Mk1,

The 12th of October is El Dia de La Raza in Colombia. Their equivalent of our Columbus Day, but usually much more important and celebrated in Latin America. There is a Barrio 12 de Octubre in every major city in Colombia for this very reason. So although I'm pretty sure you're referring to Medellin, you'll have to clarify yourself.

Doce de Octubre is comuna 6 in Medellin.  The most northwest comuna in the city.  Borders Bello to the north and Castilla,  comuna 7 to the east.  Inside comuna 6 are the barrios Doce de Octubre No.1 and No. 2.  In general it is a pretty rough area,  not a place where a gringo is going to hang much.  About two months ago, five people were shot and killed at a local futbol game there,  gang war related.
I do not think that one can define a person just from what area they come from.  There are different dynamics at work everywhere here,  personally,  I would not accept nor would I reject anyone solely on the basis of where they are from.

Yes that's right, very rough area.  It is next to Pedregal where my girlfriend lives.

That is a low thing to say to me in the context of this board. I realise it is a joke, but I'm not laughing.

Gato, I remember you posting the same thing about you and your girl breaking up. How's about an update?! Have you all finally met in person?

I thought he's been over there and even had a photo of him with his gf--"Astrid' a while back as his avatar.
I thought they broke up too---issues with her children's father, complications and such. If he wants to play coy with the forum, oh well--no matter, except if he expects to be taken seriously when it counts.
Whether you think you can or think you can't--you're right!

Rob, you're right. Now that I think about it I do remember Gato's avatar with a picture of him and a young lady so perhaps I'm confusing him with another board member. Whether he wants to share the details of the current status of his relationship or not is definitely his decision.

Gato, I wish you the best either way. Hang in there!

Maybe jealous over short term memory loss?
