ColombiaCupid
« on: February 03, 2012, 04:15:22 PM »
So I've got a profile on there and my pictures, but I have basically very little in my personal description, yet I'm getting a lot of 'interests' and a few emails from a ladies that seem attractive and interesting to me.  Just wondering if anyone here can chime in about experiences and/or successes using CC to find quality prospects? I'm very impressed with how many attractive women are on there, but I'm wondering if it's all just meant to get naive guys to sign up for subscriptions.  Any advice or tips?  I'll be putting more effort into my personal description soon, and I expect that might help my cause on CC quite a bit, but for now I'm pretty surprised given how little effort I've put in.  My plan is to get a handful of potentials to later meet this year or next.  Is this realistic? Any other sites I should consider?  Thanks everyone!

it was a rough chop for me using that site.

I met a handful of real women - attractive, eligible, with the ability to stay focused and build a relationship online.  99% were flaky.   The more I looked at in under a bright light, the more I realized, I could meet a boatload of CC girls in any Exito or university in person - with better results.

Hello Johnson

My surname is Johnston with "T" :)

I have experience with CC.   I found my ex-prometida as well as my current novia via CC.  I have had so many "interests" and received letters from different kinds of ladies.  You would have noticed that many of them who send you "interests" do not read your profile.   Most of the letters are very brief - 1 line and give you their e-mails.

I have had few ladies wanting to meet me, but when I arrived to their city (Cali), they made excuses not to.   It did not matter to me because I already had my Plan A.    One lady wouldn't want to meet me because it was heavy rain that night.  Rain or not, I knew she wasn't genuinely interested in me.

These 2 ladies (my ex-prometida y my current novia) were more serious and I was very confidence that they would show up which they did.

CC is a good way to learn, but remember that CC is FREE for these ladies.  Some of them are cam prostitutes, while some of the others 'work' on CC just to learn money from these men who foolishly send money.

In the bottom line, are you prepared to eliminate 1,000 ladies in order to find your Miss Right?  This is the real work of Thomas Edison, the light bulb inventor who had eliminated thousands of different ways that didn't work.

CC doesn't really cost you much money, so why not try out for 1-2 months.

I wish you the best of luck

Johnson, key to remember it's free for them and an "interest" means nothing. That's why it's worth paying the monthly fee so you can exchange emails, skype/msn addresses to find ones that are interested. There are good ones on there you just have to weed them out...

I see, sounds like I'll just have to roll up my sleeves and get to work.  Thanks for the heads up on the cam-prostitutes, Astrid.  Zon, I wish I had that opportunity, unfortunately I'm a single dad here in the States. I'm hoping to make a trip at the end of this year or next, it's good to know there is much better potential being 'in country.'  Can't wait for my tour of duty... unfortunately I may only get 2-3 weeks max.

ok,  if your not going for a while, dont bother wasting your time on cupid, because by the time you get there, most girls will be gone,

better to sign up a few months before, also, match.com . latin version is also a good way to go and Badoo.

No way Badoo!!

I met Astrid in CC in December 2009 and met her in real in September 2010 - 9 months later.   Nothing wrong with it

A friend of mine was impressed after meeting my wife and he began his own search without asking me. He started on CC and he has been at it a few months and he has been very disappointed with the results, claiming an extraordinarily high number of scam artists and prepagos/putas.

He got tired of sorting through them and playing the games, so he decided to give up the idea completely.

I think CC is great if you have a lot of time on your hands to sort through the women.

Gato... duh!  :-[   I knew that too, and for some reason still typed Astrid. Anyway, it's sounds like some can make it work and others end up where I'm worried it may go... a bunch of money/green card diggers.  Gato, did you have to sort through a lot of crap before you found Astrid?  How did you know she had potential early on?

Alabamaboy, so did your friend totally give up?  is he just looking only in the US now?  How did you make it work?  Is there away of attracting a higher percentage of quality ladies through CC by specifically listing what your looking for and the intent of your profile on CC?

Well after dealing with CC and then seeing how my relationship is going these days, and after finding out how much it is to travel these days, the visa hassles, and all the other costs with one of these relationships such as your lady probably will want to travel home frequently....he decided it was out of his ballpark in regards to cost and overall hassle. He is going to take his chances with the local girls here, who are mostly Mexican women who are either first or second generation here in the States.

Jeeze... I'm already discouraged.  That was one of the things that caused a lot of headaches for me with my last colombian wife, always wanting to fly back for the holidays.  Is this true for any other guys with colombian wives living in the US?

Some people give up easily, unfortunately.  If Thomas Edison had the same personality as your friend, then the light bulb would have never been invented.

Unfortunately there are and will be many gold diggers  (diamond diggers), but there are still genuine women waiting for you!!

Yes, I had to sort through a lot of crap before I found my Astrid, and also before I found my ex-prometida, Liz.     It wasn't easy to find a potential lady, but you will know when you get there.

I have eliminated all time wasters, not genuinely showing interests, on multi-chat in MSN/Yahoo, not answering any simple questions, so on.

I don't blame him!  At least cheaper weddings in Colombia than in US   :D

I don't understand. Are you looking for a Colombian wife that does not want to visit her family?

I think it was easier for him to invent the light bulb than it has been for me and others to go through this process with a Colombiana wife.

Once a year is reasonable. Every three months or so is insane. But you need to discuss this with your lady in detail, because even though it is obviously insane to think this is an option, your Colombiana wife may think she is married to a multi-millionare and think it is possible. She may think that it is silly to save for your retirement or kids college fund rather than burn up every penny so she can go back and see her family whenever she wants.

A common thought process I see these Costenas making  is: "why save for tomorrow when we can spend today?"

Hey V_Man, I understand and can appreciate wanting to visit family. I guess an every other year arrangement would be agreeable with me, especially now that my financial/vacation situation is better than it was then.  I would even look forward to it if most of the trip was on the coast.  I guess I should consider looking for Mrs. Right in BQ?  As long as she is willing to travel elsewhere and not expecting every vacation to be to Colombia, I'm good with that.

Problems with these ladies are that they don't think properly, and never really thinking about the future.  They are just "money grow on trees" ladies.

My wife wants to fly back every December, and that's ok with me ... I love Barranquilla in December ...

Definitely the best time to go in terms of climate...

My experiences with CC are pretty good. I've met a lot of girls from the site. I wouldn't even attempt to use it to build a relationship if you're not in Colombia or going soon though. I mean, nothing wrong with finding some prospects a few months beforehand but starting a relationship and making a bunch of promises that might not end up meaning [snip] when the time comes always seemed like a waste of time to me. As for the flakes, from my experience, half of the girls that would normally pull a no-show are much more willing to actually keep a date when you tell them you're in Colombia upon initial contact.

I'd stay away from the extremely attractive women on CC if you can help it. Not only do they get tons of messages they usually make no attempt at reading or responding to, but they are usually on the site because they can't find a guy with enough money to cater to their expensive taste in Colombia (or they've gone through all of them). Exceptionally beautiful, young, attractive women are for the most part expensive anywhere on the planet. Besides, with the level of beauty in Colombia it's much easier to date a 10 by our standards (which is a 7 or 8 there) than a 10 by Colombian Standards...which is usually an celebrity's girlfriend or wife here in the states.

I most definitely agree with Zon. If you know Spanish you can just go to your local Exito or Carrefour and approach women. Colombianas are NEVER standoffish. The won't make you regret approaching them like American Women. At worst, you'll get a lie like, "I have a boyfriend" or "I lost my cell phone recently" if they're not interested. I have never approached a girl in Colombia and didn't at least get a warm smile, a handshake, and a "It was nice to meet you."
