Cheap Flight from Colombia

Been looking for some inexpensive flights for my girl to come see me from colombia.


I've been online lately, and I am finding some outrageous rates from Cali to NYC.  From $600 to $900, one way, when I have made the trip for under $500, roundtrip, on more than one occasion.


Any links for cheap rates, links, or advice people?

Occasionally, it is actually cheaper to purchase a round-trip instead of a one-way. She could always hang on to the return ticket just in case she wants to go back home when she finds out that you snore like a bear and fart in your sleep…

If I remember correctly you live in New Jersey and your girl is from Cali, right?
 
Not sure how okay it would be with you or her, but cheapest option. Bus from Cali to Bogota, LAN or Spirit from Bogota to Fort Lauderdale, bus from Florida to NJ...or you could rent a car on a weekend special and go pick her up. I'm thinking you could do that all for about more or less $400 all inclusive.

Better still Bus from Cali to Armenia and a flight on Spirit direct to Ft. Lauderdale. Greyhound or Amtrak northbound into N.J..
I was able to find a Friday 17FEB 2012 weekday  one-way Armenia to Ft. Lauderdale for about $218 excluding baggage fees.

This past saturday the 21st I purchased a round trip ticket to cali from boston with just 1 stop in miami . it is with american airlines and it cost $633 after taxes. I didn't think that was bad. I bought it for April 16th thru 26th. That is what the prices are looking like that far out in the future.  I bought it on the american airlines website though I found the same prices through onetravel.com..... travelocity and some other bigger names were all much more expensive.

nah I bought the ticket already.  too layovers, one in Bogota for an hour and half, and a second in Orlando, and she'll be in my arms at EWR at 8:30pm.  Price = $492.65 on onetravel.com




The trick was I had to be flexible about the date.  I had been determined (for reasons I'm not entirely sure of)  that I wanted her to be here on Sunday the 12th.  When I opened up my search to the whole week, I found that flights dropped in price significantly on Friday and Tuesday. 


She's a big girl and handle it.  The hardest part will be convincing her that the 3 1/2 hour layover in Orlando won't be enough for her to leave the airport and go to Disney to see Mickey

Glad its working out for you guys Osa. Good thing that it's not costing you an arm and a leg to finally get her here either. There's plenty of Spanish speakers in Orlando, so it shouldn't seem too 'foreign'. I imagine she'll have enough time to get through customs--immigration?
She won't be sitting too long in Bogota and you don't have to drive from N.J. to Orlando and back--hopefully giving you more time for 'better things to do'! Get your place ready man!

I am glad you aren't going to torture your girl with a bus ride, then a flight then another bus ride. That seems like something a coyote would do to his client. Or something you would do to an enemy!

What airline(s) are you using?

Yes tuesday is supposedly the cheapest day of the week to fly.

Trying initially to book Tuesdays, allowing the search to vary dates of flights within a few days of your first choice, using multiple search engines and checking after midnight, when new, lower priced tickets sometimes open up, are all good moves. Sometimes though, it just comes down to dumb luck.

I don't have to worry about how much plane tickets cost, or bringing a girl here for that matter. The man asked for a cheap option, so I gave him one. Do you think riding the bus in Colombia would be safer just because she's from there?

Tell her that there is a special event on that day & the park is closed to everyone without an invitation. 


The POE at MCO is a hit or miss but with 3 1/2 hours that should give her more than enough time to get through immigrations & catch her connecting flight. Just make sure that she have your contact # should she need to call you.

USA is stranger to her than in Colombia.
