Thanks but it's not me or my tastes that dictate it, it's human nature or rather women's preference for tall guys. I know not to bother with women above a certain height (say approx. 5 ft 4 inches) because women any taller have no interest in a guy like me (unless they are really ugly or fat).

That is just reality.  Yes, there EXCEPTIONS to this rule but it is very rare.  That is fine with me. Still plenty of attractive girls under say 5 ft 3 inches.

Yes, most women prefer taller guys, BUT in countries like Peru you ARE tall. The average height of Peruvian men is only about 5 feet 3 inches.

Those rules may apply within the U.S., but when you start dating outside American territorial domain, you can take everything you think you know about women's nature and what women want and chuck it all out the window.  The rules are very different.

But in the end, it comes down to what you want.  If you prefer women who are a bit more petite than you, that is your preference and you are perfectly entitled to seek that out.  Don't think along the lines of "well, this is all I can get."  Instead, shift your gears into "what am I really physically, emotionally, tempermentally drawn to."

Bob_S, I just read your response, sorry if I came across the wrong way. I was referring to physical attraction, nothing more.
There are women with those attributes you mentioned in every Latin American country, in every country of the world for that matter. But to find those qualities combined with natural physical beauty, I couldn't think of any any other country than Colombia, maybe in Brazil as well but there you are faced with a whole new language to be learned, a language you can only use in Brazil and Portugal.
Colombia has or had some very attractive native tribes and combined with either African or European influence throughout the centuries, which ever skin color turns you on, it isn't easy to find  beauty in such numbers with well balanced bodies in any other country.
In my book, hotness, beauty, and attractiveness are three separate and not necessarily related qualities.  Vegas strippers are some of the hottest women you will ever see, and the Miss Universe contest has the best collection of beautiful women you will find in one place, but none are what I would call attractive.  For the very definition of attractiveness can be found within the word itself: attract.  If a woman has qualities that make you drawn to her, and make you want to be around her all the time even with your clothes on, then she is truly attractive to you.  If you see a woman you'd like to hump and dump, then clearly she is not truly attractive because you'd have no problem with the dump part.

Oh, and here's the weird thing about the true relation between beauty and attractiveness: when you spend time with a woman and start finding her attractive, you will also start noticing how beautiful she is, even if you didn't see it at first.  I kid you not.
...a wife should be always a reasonable and agreeable companion, because she cannot always be young.

First choice are always local professionals from well to do families. If they get ignored by them and their reputation isn't spottless (his family will send a private investigator after her to obtain her entire dating history) they may take a look at foreigners who obviously have money and are attractive. Tall Order may strike out and get lucky just like some other foreigners did but I see very little predictability.
Everything is so much easier in Colombia. Decent, attractive and professional women appear in very large numbers and many colombianas are attracted to foreigners because they are tired of putting up with the infidelity of their own men.
Your success depends mostly on your knowledge of Spanish and your personality, less so on your attractiveness or stature. Many Latinas have a child and if she has a growing daughter she wants to be sure first of all if she can trust you around her. She is worried about many important things affecting her life with you, economic security being one of them and if you are going to be a faithful husband and thousands of women feel more secure if their husband isn't that tall or handsome so every woman in the neighborhood wants to sleep with him.
Comes to mind Mickey Rooney's success with tall beautiful women, his 8 marriages to movie stars, Eva Gardner being one of them and beautiful models. He wasn't especially good looking, he weighed 137 lb. and is 5' 1 tall. He has an overwhelming personality, that was basically all he had to offer.
Believe nothing of what you hear and only half of what you see.

I thought this would be a short lived thread, but seeing how it's gotten so long, here's my little contribution. According to the chart below, (which copied kind of oddly here, but shows average height of men AND women) there's no shortage of short women (or men) worldwide. There's a lot of nations in C. and S. America with relatively short women.

Not shown here, but what's amazing to me is how a number of nations have taller people than the USA does, and how much taller the Japanese have gotten from just after WWII up to about 1995, when they began to slow down in getting taller. Also, there's a huge disparity in height when you compare how tall South Koreans are stacked up against North Koreans--not that too many of us are headed to N. Korea. You guys will have to dig those stats out yourselves if you want, although again, they are amazing....

Willie Shoemaker didn't seem to have any trouble dating and marrying tall beautiful women either:

Gavan, very true, there are attractive women in Peru and you will find them in every Latin country, but will they be waiting for Tall Order?
First choice are always local professionals from well to do families. If they get ignored by them and their reputation isn't spottless (his family will send a private investigator after her to obtain her entire dating history) they may take a look at foreigners who obviously have money and are attractive. Tall Order may strike out and get lucky just like some other foreigners did but I see very little predictability.

Yes, what you say is true, but attractiveness always matters to some degree too (unless you go after women who are 100% pure interesadas (gold diggers) and only want to use you). All I am saying is that by going to a country like Peru, guys who are considered short in the US or Europe can suddenly become "tall" and this is certainly an advantage. Other purely physical advantages for foreigners here include things like blue/green eyes or blond hair, which are considered very attractive and exotic.

Willie Shoemaker didn't seem to have any trouble dating and marrying tall beautiful women either:

Weathly celebrities are outliers and not the norm......Shoemaker won over ten triple crowns during his career.  Fame and success will trump height.  But I am talking about the odds for a normal, middle-class guy.

At the risk of starting yet another round of disbelief posts, the vast majority of women aren't really interested in fame and success, but they are attracted to the same kind of men that also tends to attract success. Ask any women if money is an issue and they'll say no, but they are attracted to the strong, confident personality that also tends to be successful in most fields, from business to the arts, to sports, to successfully running a plumbing contractor business, or being a high-demand computer programmer.

Guys that win the lottery or inherent money seem to be just as popular...

Women attracted to men who win the lottery are just for rent anyway, even if you fool yourself and marry one.  And women who are for rent are ultimately not attractive to men who think with their big head at least as much as their little head.

How many guys do you know who won the lottery or inherited a lot of money? I'm guessing that you're just guessing.

My karate instructor is a short man.  He has a tall girlfriend.   He isn't a wealthy man or celebrities.

Anything is possible.

Does it make you feel better that I am deaf and have an hearing girlfriend.

There are some pretty hot chicks amongst the Mbenga of the western Congo basin. They're really short. Bantu shouldn't be that much harder to learn than Spanish.
