Should a Short Guy Stick to Peru???
« on: January 10, 2012, 09:37:31 AM »
I love latin women.  I am physically very fit, have a full head of hair, and women tell me I am guapo (handsome) often.  But I am only 5 ft 7 inches.

I am also college educated, a steady job/income, good character, and speak decent Spanish.  As a "vertically challenged" guy I prefer women from 5 ft to 5ft 4 inches (max). Nothing against tall women, but I will leave them for you tall guys.

Should I stick to Peru or is there enough of a supply of good looking, short women in other Latin American countries?

You know what is totally funny... I have been looking in Colombia... And I want girls that are 5'3" and taller LOL... I think you would be okay in Colombia as well..  It pretty funny that you and I really are looking at the almost exact same cut off... Just on opposite lines... Good luck in your search

I don't know if you should just stick to Peru, but I can tell you that at 5 ft 7 you will not be considered short here at all. I am 5 ft 8 but people call me tall here all the time. My novia's brother is about the same height as me and he is also considered tall by Peruvian standards.

Yes, I know about the PHILLIPINES.  But no thanks. I prefer Latin women...and i know Peru has also an Asian influence which is fine with me.

I'm only 5'9" (and a half! ;)), 136lbs.  My wife (colombiana) is about 5'3" and 95 pounds.  I feel like a giant around her.  There aren't a ton of women on the coast as slim as her, but there are many her height or within a couple inches either direction.

My advice:

Forget about this height junk and focus on their character.

Pick a country based on the people and culture, not on the average height of their women, and you'll be much happeir in the long run.

Tall order, Peru has few attractive women compared to Colombia. Most of them have indio features like long noses. Colombia has it's share of short women, fewer on the coast, like Whitey stated, and in every other Latin country, short women seem to be in the majority. Some latinas prefer taller men but not all, as long as he is somewhat taller then she is, no problema.

I don't think you need to stick to Peru if height is one of your criteria.
On the other hand if you find Peruvian women attractive, why not start there? If you have decent Spanish then I recommend you go to places a little off the core gringo trail.

You are looking for 163cm max. From my observations the average Colombian, Peruvian or Venezuelan woman would be under this height. A 160cm woman in Colombia is about normal there, from what I have seen. I expect anywhere outside of the Southern Cone and Southern Brazil you would find the majority of women under 165cm. Obviously we are talking about millions of women so there are going to be some big variations.

From my research here are the average female heights of some countries:

2008 figures:

Argentina
    161.03 cm (5 ft 3.4 in)
Brazil
    158.0 cm (5' 2.2")
Colombia
    158.65 cm (5' 2.4")

Other sources (various years) state:

Argentina 1.608 m

Brazil 1.588 m

Chile 1.572 m

Colombia 1.587 m

Mexico 1.510 m

Peru 1.510 m

Oh?  You mean they are on average less honest, less kind, less caring, less trustworthy, and overall less decent women?

From what i know, the taller girls are found in places where there is an Euro and Afro streak in the population's genetic mix, whereas the shorter girls are found in places where the Amerindian gene pool is less "diluted" so to speak; figures seem to back this up.

What's interesting is a theory I recall reading somewhere that this may be due to the colonialization process - many of the indigenous menfolk in the Latin countries were massacred by conquistadores, and the surviving women carried the lion's share of the gene pool with them to the next generations. This in turn resulted in a lower average population height by way of some genetic process.

In any case, I guess i'm the wrong guy to chime in - I'm not at all attracted to women below 5'7. A very photogenic starlet of 5'5 versus a plain looking girl of 5'9? - for me, no contest whatsoever!

True, in the areas of Mexico you find taller people are either somewhat white looking or mulatos. The rest of us are extremely mixed with a minority of indigenous people that are incredibly short. The only place that comes to mind where this is not the case is Guadalajara, lot's of shorties with dark hair and eyes but they don't look indigenous because of their nose shape and skin tones (mostly morenos claros)

But anyways TallOrder, it's ok to have height preferences just like many here have weight and age ones, just don't close yourself to the idea of something different and stop giving so much importance to numbers, you might be pleasantly surprised.

Thanks but it's not me or my tastes that dictate it, it's human nature or rather women's preference for tall guys. I know not to bother with women above a certain height (say approx. 5 ft 4 inches) because women any taller have no interest in a guy like me (unless they are really ugly or fat).

That is just reality.  Yes, there EXCEPTIONS to this rule but it is very rare.  That is fine with me. Still plenty of attractive girls under say 5 ft 3 inches.

"Oh?  You mean they are on average less honest, less kind, less caring, less trustworthy, and overall less decent women?"

Bob_S, I just read your response, sorry if I came across the wrong way. I was referring to physical attraction, nothing more.
There are women with those attributes you mentioned in every Latin American country, in every country of the world for that matter. But to find those qualities combined with natural physical beauty, I couldn't think of any any other country than Colombia, maybe in Brazil as well but there you are faced with a whole new language to be learned, a language you can only use in Brazil and Portugal.
Colombia has or had some very attractive native tribes and combined with either African or European influence throughout the centuries, which ever skin color turns you on, it isn't easy to find  beauty in such numbers with well balanced bodies in any other country.
To find an attractive woman with the above qualities in Colombia is not an easy job and a job it is, not to be taken lightly. Whitey figured it out some time ago, I for one am still learning.
So most of us are suffering with patience until we have found the right one.
