Jamie is of European decedents, but many agencies owners are American!!   CSM from America, CSH from America.  LLM owner from America too?   You will find that many agencies come from America.   

There are also plenty of Colombians of European ancestry.  But Jamie, who runs the agency in Barranqilla, is definitely an AMERICAN guy (i.e., from the United States) of European ancestry.

Well I tried online and the prospects were not that great so I am forced to either settle with some ungrateful american bitch... The last one faked pregnancy to get me to keep talking to her... 2 days after I talked to her and let her back into my life she convieniently started...  Or keep wasting time online... I am chosing the Agency route because I feel like I just need introductions not a lot of help... I am chosing the agency because of the the girls on the site and they have been responsive...  I don't  wanna go to an agency where I have no attraction to any of the girls... To me that would be a complete waste!  I have a certain look that I appreciate and desire... It's not Shakira its something pretty normal... But we all have things that attract us to a woman... To me its all in the face..I think the picture of the kid is an accident... I really doubt with the laws that they would be selling introductions to 4 year olds... If thats the new think I would like to set those sick puppies up for a date with a Colombian Neck Tie Specialist!  I have heard good and bad with ACG so I will keep people informed in how things are going... They told me certain things that I would like to see happen preparing for my trip... If those things happen I will say that they did... If they don't then I will be honest and say they don't... Yay!  I get to be the Guinea Pig for this experiment... Better than being a Gerbil for some other human experiment LOL!  I will have more to say about proof one way or the other in the coming months... But I told them I am not gonna move any money till closer to my trip time as I want to do this comfortably and get to know them more over time.

LatinSharpei:  I am pretty new at this game too.  I made my first trip to Colombia last year where I used an agency (but not in Cali).
 
 I would offer the following suggestions:  By all means get the most you can out of ACG. But do NOT put all your eggs in one basket.  So I would also: 
 
1. Sign up on Colombian Cupid about 90 days in advance of your trip.  Try to line up some dates this way. You'll find that with an actual ticket and travel dates in hand, you can line up some dates/introductions.
 
2. Also, keep your eyes wide open once you hit the ground in Cali. That is, be open to meeting ladies in public places.  Not likely to be the most effective strategy from a statisical perspective but still VERY possible.
 
When I went last year, I had several dates lined up via C.C. and I also got a phone number/e-mail from a 26 yr old gal I met in public.  I wish I had done more of this. 
 
I am probably stating the obvious, but I think with the limited time we have to vacation, it is best to MAXIMIZE your time and have as many back up plans as possible.

He seems more "hands on" also. Agencies owned by Americans are often ran by Colombians so you still have to deal with Colombian business practices.

Yes, I went to Colombia in early 2011.  I met several girls with one that I liked enough to pursue long term. I was planning a 2nd trip but in the end decided she was not the right one for me. So I ended the relationship before it went any further.
 
I hope to make it back to Colombia (or somewhere esle in Latin America) later this year and Cali is very likely the next city I will visit.

did a little research today and now im back to medellin...maybe laureles area.......im not really looking for a wife on my first trip but would like to meet a few possible candidates...CC sounds interesting..I may just join that now and have 9 months to correspond and meet maybe 5-6 women wwhen i get there.

I spent a week in Cali a few months ago. It was my first time in Colombia. I did not use an agency and I did not visit any so I can't comment on agencies.

I liked the girls in Cali. I think you could find a gem there. There are all types.

On the other hand A women I was talking to a few months ago that lives in Cali said that there are very few gringos there..Last thing I want to do is go into a bar or club and be the only gringo...

In my week in Cali I saw one gringo on the other side of a night club dance floor one night. His "dancing" made me look good. Hahaha! That is the only time I saw another gringo in Cali. Maybe I just didn't hang out in gringo central for long enough to see any.

Personally I think this is a major advantage of Cali. However each to their own...

I hope to return to Cali sometime this year but I don't have a fixed plan yet.

If I was looking for new dates in Cali, I would chat with a few online via CC about 2 or 3 months before arriving - whether I used an agency or not. In other words try to have 2 or 3 different ways to meet girls so that you have plenty of options.

I think it is too easy to be all on edge about the possible things that can go wrong. The likelihood is that you'll have a great time. Try and relax a little. Many woman are defintely interested in meeting a gringo.
Learn as much Spanish as you can. That is really what matters.

Women in Medellin are a rough bunch - incompletas, insinceras.  There are a boat load of pretty girls that will do anything for a benefit.  But, to look for a wife?  Hmmmm  Not good. 


Also, don't start corresponding with women 9 months before you see them.  Colombianas that are online have the attention span of a bee.

Sounds like you fall in love with pictures. Seeing women in real life is entirely different than pictures. One agency doesn't only recruit women with small noses and another with big eyes. They ALL have good looking ones, ugly ones, chubby ones, slender ones, ones you like th elooks of and ones you don't. Picking an agency because they happen to have a great photography and photoshop skills is pretty silly IMO.

I feel the same way, but this is certainly not unique to Cali.  You'll barely spot a gringo anywhere in Colombia except for a few places like airports, a couple hangouts in Parque Lleras, the old city in Cartagena, and the backpacker types in hostels, Taganga, and Parque Tayrona.

Oh ... maybe if you're really lucky, you can spot Jim and Calipro hanging out in the food court at Chipichape mall, scoping out the young caleñas ....

Gato - I am sorry, but I only have a fragment understanding of your situation.  Whenever I read that the woman originates from Medellin, I sort of "block it out" - hahahaha   only 1/2 kidding     Are your married?  Do you live in Medellin?  I find it immensely difficult to believe an attractive young Paisa is in a long term relationship with a person from a different country.  I intend no offense.  I am just curious.

Guys..I am headed to Cali for 3 weeks in April. I am going to remodel the kitchen in the apartment my wife and i own there. I am also going to get the ball rolling on MY approach to the marriage agency idea that i have.

  I am a builder from northern New England and  I am your typical white gringo, although untypically i speak fluent Spanish and I LOVE Colombia...and I LOVE Cali. My wife has a very large family there with whom i am very close.

 My sister in-law is the manager of a VERY NICE hotel called Hotel Calima Real.   it can be viewed at  www.hotelcalimareal.com   they have many Americans and Europeans that stay there and i highly recommend this hotel in Cali. They have a very good and informative website where you can even see the restaurant menu as well as the many other amenities they provide.   Enough with promoting her hotel.

   What i am getting at is, if anybody is interested in having an American there in Cali  to help them get their bearings, keep them safe and to help them in their search for a Hottie i will be there in April, again in the fall, and again for Xmas.
 
 I also have access to the resources of the one brick and mortar marriage agency in Cali and I am able to keep them focused on the task of contacting and bringing the girls to you, and making things happen. With me there they know they can't be slacking off! With me at your side things will get done and you will be taken seriously, not taken advantage of!   

I also intend on starting my own agency in 2112 but for now i am going down there on the premise of personal service and support from an AMERICAN who knows and loves America and Colombia. I love the women and country of Colombia and I want to share with other men how GREAT it is down there!!!

As i said I am from  northern New England, i will be leaving from Boston and am happy to meet there and travel and guide any men interested in having an experienced American connection in Cali. Interesting post.  I wonder how your caleña wife likes norther New England. Which brick and morter agency are you refering to? The only one I'm aware of is allcolombiangirls, the agency being referenced in this thread. Are you refering to that one or some other?
