New England social
« on: December 23, 2011, 10:07:56 AM »
to the Planet love crew,
i am a proud American with a wonderful colombian wife. It has been suggested to me that maybe a nice gathering of like minded couples and singles who have experienced this kind of international relationship search, (either successful or still looking), would/could be a fun and enlightening time. I'd like to hear from others who may like to participate. It would be for starters my wife and i attending and people could at least meet us and hear our stories in person and see if international matchmaking  may be the right approach for them. It could also be a good way for the wives to network and meet other girls in similar situations. For we know how important it is for them to have their network of latina amigas,,,,, When the women r happy so are the men!!!  That being said MEN,,, the support network for the ladies when they come to this country is very important to a happy wife, and therefore a happy marriage.
So i am suggesting that this social could also be good for the future of those who still are looking,,, because if the girls know they wont be totally alone here and can have some connection to latinas that live here and have gone through the process of getting here and starting a new life  .. It would be a good "selling point" for them to feel more comfortable about the big change that they will be making to come and live here.
My wife has developed a nice network of latina amigas that has made the transition much easier for her.  I am stating that it was,, and is very important to our relationship and our happiness that she has these friends. It can not be understated how important these friendships are to her and therefore to me as well!!

So lets organize a friendly social get together and meet and share experiences and notes.  And hopefully make new friends!!

To all you guys out there still looking  let me know if you'd be interested in something like this. It could make things much smoother and easier for you if you could tell the girl(s) you are communicating with that you already have a network of latinas she could be friends with here in the states. It may even be possible to organize an support network via emails and such for her before she even comes, so she knows we are for real up here and we can provide a good rewarding life for her in the beautiful USA.
To those still looking for a girl this social can also help provide you with the contacts you need, to make a realistic go of it in S. America on your search for a mate.

thoughts,,,,ideas,,,,,post em!!!  thanks stnmasn

well Masn some of the members here have wives from other places than S. America, are we free to come check out your get together? My wife is still waiting for her CR1 but should be here in the spring. I'm in central NH so i guess your not too far away if your in VT. where would it be held? would it really depend on how many you had from each state? for example 4 couples wanted to attend from NH & you and your wife. i guess it would logisticly be better if it was held in a central location so as many as possible could attend. maybe each couple could host it in their area. that way every couple of months there would be one within say 100 miles that most members could attend. I guess if your the guy who is putting all if this together you get to figure all of this out ......have fun with that ;D

take care

Pigglet's point was the first thing that crossed my mind "colombian" does not equal "international"... but doesn't matter where they are from I am sure they would appreciate to know they can take a break of speaking english and have a nice normal conversation in spanish every now and then or just talk about funny things that happen in a relationship due cultural or language differences with a new lady friend that will understand her situation.

I for one I am in love with northeast area of the US and it's people from the little experience I have with it and from what I've heard about it, I would love to visit sometime, those girls that end up there will be very lucky, until winter hits that is  ;D

Nice idea stonemason, I am single, still looking. But I live on the west coast of the U.S.A. (Calif) so attending such an event is not possible. Otherwise it sounds interesting.

I.V.: I think Piglett's lady is from Asia, not Latin America. Of course, you are correct that Colombia is merely one country on a very large continent.

I see you like the northeastern part of the U.S. I agree, it is a nice area. But you bring up a point I often wonder about.

What areas of the U.S. would a woman from Latin American WANT to live in? Does she prefer an area with a warm climate or not, etc.? I realize if she is truly in love, she will go anywhere her guy is.

In your case I.V. you live in Baja California if i remember correctly. So does the prospect of moving to say California bore you? Since you already live so close where as the northeast U.S. is a bit more exotic and far away?

IV i think you would love it up here in the northeast till after the 1st snow. after a day or 2 of that you would probably be ready to head southbound ;D

then again if you were dresses for it ,it mite be OK.
people from the Philippines think when it's cold out you put on a coat. here when it REALLY cold you put on insulated boots thermal underware ( both top & bottom) a couple of sweatshirts then a hooded sweatshirt then a good warm coat.
now if your car is parked in a heated garage & you intend to drive straight to a nice warm building you may not need all of that but for outside activities you will on the coldest days.

Now I'm not sure about the whole speaking Spanish thing ( because i only know a couple words) :-X
however i thought it would be interesting for ladies from different parts of the globe to be able to get together & share the different experiences they had with each other.
i think all of them being in a strange foreign land mite have quite a bit in common....but i could be wrong.

take care all

Yes Deseo, Pigglet's wife is from Asia, that is why I mentioned just talking about someone that knows of your situation, I have nobody to talk to (well except Braziliangirl) that will understand my situation since women over here usually keep their distance from foreigners and expats and tourists keep their distance from us!

I can't answer for all latinas out there, if I had to I would guess a lot of them would like to go to a somewhat loud and warm place with plenty of latinos like Florida, something like an improved version of home.

As for me, yes I live in Baja and palm trees do get a bit boring after a while, I love nature and I've always loved big trees and lots of green, also I used to be an architecture student and love old buildings, not to mention I am old fashioned and I am pretty quiet for a latina so I feel a small town in that area would be like heaven to me, but yes I would not marry a man just because of his location!

Another thing is the people, no offense but I usually find california people to be a bit strange, too many out there are into party and very immature and for some strange reason it is harder to have a decent conversation, we just don't seem to click as easily, even sense of humor is a bit different it seems but keep in mind my experience is only from men I've met online.

well IV from what i have encountered while traveling all over the country as a long haul trucker, city people are a different breed than most country people. i have met some fine people who lived in rural areas of California. maybe you have only encountered city types. they can be stuck up & rather stand offish, but i don't wish to say they are all like that because it's just not so, however some are.

you need to get up to the northeast in late Sept.
the leaves are changing colors from the cooler weather & i think you would really enjoy it. being from here i am used to it but i have talked to people from many different places & they all say how much they love the northeast in the fall.

What a beautiful image pigglet!! yes that is the kind of beauty I like from over there, from my travels I've never seen that, we just don't have that kind of trees over here and even the 2 times I've been in PA was not around the fall, I could still see some interesting colors among all that green though.

You are right, most of my experience of people in CA has been with city guys and when visiting my relatives that live in small towns I haven't had the chance to talk to non-latinos, but I must say latinos in big cities of CA can be a bit scary, some other inspire 'pena ajena' (to be ashamed on someone else's behalf) the few I encountered up there were at least what I would call normal.

I would not call californians stuck up, if anything in the extremes of being too laid back or too superficial in my experience, they also don't seem to read too much, the ones that do seem to be very business minded "work hard play hard" type. I like the wittiness and healthy dose of sarcasm that I've found in the northeast, the balance of simplicity and good manners, I could go on and on.

Funny enough I wouldn't be surprised if I end up with a guy really close by like in San Diego or something, turns out I am terrible at long distance relationships.

hi folks,

i was kinda thinking that a more central location might be a good solution...concord nh. for us is bout 2 hrs.   that is a haul for us but we would make a day of it or something..my wife loves the outlet malls in tilton.   but i was thinking concord or maybe even salem nh.   another popular town with my wife w. lebanon is easy option for us also. just ideas...i dont know what would be the easiest for the majority?
And yes piglett  other nationalities would be more than welcome..

Piggy!

I've been in a road trip to 3 states in New England in early September once. The foliage hadn't started yet, but I felt in love with everything, especially the small towns. The weather, the sunsets, the scenic roads and the colors were wonderful already. Not sure if I would survive a winter there, though.

About the New England social thing, depending on when this social will happen I'm interested in attending, even if there aren't many singles, it would be nice to gather with people with more experience.

I am 2 miles east of lake winnipesaukee so Salem is about 1 hour 20min, Concord is about an hour & tilton is probably an hour & 1/2. I don't worry much about doing a little driving because a few years ago i drove 10 to 11 hours everyday, a 2 hour drive is a vacation  ;D

well 1st i think i should address your last point.
i probably talked to 10 ladies before i found my wife
in other words 90% of the ladies i chatted with my feel like they are not good at long distance relationships. the truth is there are many many more ladies looking for a good man then there are men looking for a foreign bride. most guys just don't have the guts to step up & show up.

well ladies you both need to come on up here & we can all hang out for the day. I'm going to say that due to the fact that winter is already here it mite be wise to wait till spring.
that's just my 2 cents worth but this is Masn's deal so it is really up to him in the end.
(no point in me making a pig of myself , he he he  ;D :D ;D )

also girls, if we all know in advance, the 2 of you could line up some local guys to come meet & us male members could all play the protective uncle role for you 8) we can check them out to make sure they have jobs & they don't live in their moms basement.
most new england guys would be intrigued with a foreign woman flying in to come see them, i know i would have.

uncle piggy ;)
