IIANM, I do not recall Bob's his saying that the subject was closed or otherwise. He said NOT to use that term and to chill because zulu was only talking about 2 ladies (which was base on his limited experience) & not about all the ladies. And for the poster(s) to better clarify their post(s).

This is an open topic - we just cannot use that term.

Everyone have the right to express their opinions & thoughts as long as it falls within the guidelines provided by the forum admin/owner. So RA, Fuzzy & others are expressing theirs.
If we were all forced to wear a warning label, what would yours say?

I also think it is important that the newbie readers out there be aware of anything that is considered offensive to Filipinos if they are contemplating traveling to the Philippines and eventually becoming a part of the culture through marriage.

There are many things that can get you into trouble over there, including seemingly harmless "slang" terms, so this thread can serve as a valuable educational tool for the uninformed.

I don’t think Zulu was aware of the highly negative connotations of that term and I don’t think he intentionally tried to insult anyone by using it. Hopefully he learned something valuable from all this.    :-*

Peace to all,

Ray

Is "flip" also considered offensive? I've just heard it used by low class kanos, so I assume it is.

Let's discuss "Pinay City Girls"

This thread is wide open and I have posted specifically on that particular subject.

Bob made a determination (rightfully so) that slang I used was inappropriate for P-L after other members found it highly offensive.

I agreed, conceded it was a poor choice of words, and we moved on.

So, I repeat, there is no reason to continue to discuss this issue concerning one slang phrase.

It's dead.

But we weren't just discussing "one slang phrase", were we?

Nothing is dead just because you say it's dead.

Zulu, you don't have to reply or join in any discussion that you don't wish to. But if other members want to discuss this issue further in an adult/civil manner, it isn't your place to stop them.

Except young Filipino Americans tend to use it without offense like Black Americans use the so called "N" word. So don't be shocked to hear it

I didn't hear any particular slang words where I visited, but I was in a very conservative province city most of the time.  They may have used them in Cebuano, but I don't speak or understand it.

I will agree that some words or slang are simply inappropriate and highly offensive in certain contexts and should NOT be used.
