ok, so i chatted with her today and explained she is welcome to come and visit if she can buy the plane ticket.  guess we will see how things progress.  at least i know she is a 'she' cause we have spoken several times via skype.  keep you guys posted.

She will probably tell you that she is a bit short and try to get what she can from you...if she responds.  Happens all the time!

think i am aware enough to tell the difference, so dont worry about this.

Don't count on it unless you check in person yourself!  ;D  I have seen some "tuck" and flash the webcam!  :o  Maybe I should post a pic of one of my "HOT" ladyboy neighbors! I am a principle sponsor of a local Philippines Miss Gay pageant, and I can assure you that some are quite believable...or perhaps "unbelievable!"

Hey Rob ... love the new profile pic!

Thanks, Whitey & Zulu,

That pic was just taken on my wife's cell phone a few days ago, down on River Street, during October fest. Usually not cool outside this time of year, but it was that evening.
WHITEY!!--Been meaning to write you a note, but I figured you two are still 'settling in' and all that good stuff and I'd give ya a while. My family's not too far away from you up thataway, and I hear it's chilly at night these days.
Isn't it greaatttt getting into to bed with your love when it's chilly? It's downright precious when you wake up all warm & cuddly under the covers and it's cool in the rest of the house!!
We love that kind of weather! Make us wish every morning was a Sunday.
Never forget--you're living the 'good old days' right here and now!!
Whether you think you can or think you can't--you're right!

Knowing what I know about the Philippines I can't see how any guy can meet a woman online and marry her after not spending alot of time together. I know it happens it is just a big chance to take. I would not send any money to a woman I had been chatting with for only three weeks.

I wouldn't worry too much about the ladyboy possibility. I always had a fear of finding out the hard way a woman was really a man in a dress. There are some in the Philippines that are hard to tell. A friend of mine actually knows some ladyboys and she explained to me these ladyboys know it is not good to lead a man on by not being up front. Sometimes when a man finds out the truth he dumps the ladyboy and proceeds to beat the crap out of him. She also said many of the ladyboys there had plenty of boyfriends who knew the truth. Not my cup of tea but some guys go for it.

Besides this case---anybody heard and if so, free to comment on Jaystone's situation? Hoping for the best....

It's not too common for someone to admit when they're confronted with a difficult or embarrassing situation --one that some folks here could possibly even help them with.

I wonder why the ones who do solicit advice tend to not report back?

Probably the same reason many newbies don't intro themselves. Sometimes this forum isn't very user friendly if you know what I mean.

The Asian board is like one big happy family.  We occasionally get together offline to grab a beer or for meet 'n' greets with the family.  It's very user friendly if you're a grown-up who knows how to play well with others.  The Latin board however often requires you to have a thick skin.  But if you are pursuing Latinas, that is pretty much a requirement anyway, so get used to it.

If you deal with Latina babes with a weak hand, you will be eaten alive!

They may love the idea of an "rich" American husband, but they are socialized to being ruled by the man.

If they see a weakness you are toast.

I think the Latin Board reflects this machismo persona (unfortunately).  As long as members are not name calling, insulting wives and are grossly disrespectful you should not expect to be handled with kid gloves by the guys in the Latin (or Asian) Forum, ain't gonna happen!

there are times when a new member is really messing up
how do we know....well because one or more of us have already done the same stupid thing.
so how would you react if it was the other way around? i would hope you would do what was needed so the poor guy doesn't end up getting screwed.
what do i mean by screwed?
how about divorced from his new scammer wife who just barely got off the plane & now he is responsible for supporting this chick for the NEXT 10 YEARS !!!
i myself would rather have my feelings scrapped up a little than being on the hook for a decade....but that's just me.

Piggy it says;
Your obligation to support the immigrant(s) you are sponsoring in this affidavit of support will continue until the sponsored immigrant becomes a U.S. citizen, or can be credited with 40 qualifying quarters of work in the United States.

Although 40 qualifying quarters of work (credits) generally equate to ten years of work, in certain cases the work of a spouse or parent adds qualifying quarters. The Social Security Administration can provide information on how to count qualifying quarters (credits) of work.

The obligation also ends if you or the sponsored immigrant dies or if the sponsored immigrant ceases to be a lawful permanent resident and departs the United States.

Divorce does not end the sponsorship obligation.

Two key words...qualifying & generally.

Mr. Pig,
I also understand that the Govt. has never enforced this support aggreement, and never goes after money from the sponsor if there is a split.  Maybe the other guys have heard different, but my understanding is that this just doesn't happen.
The divorce court might use the doc. but I don't know anything about that.

Pig, what if she never works?

If she doesn't work (or never completes 10 40 quarters of work) and keeps renewing her green card every 10 years, then you will NEVER be off the hook (unless you die).

So I thought, too.  But one of our resident lawyers a number of years ago posted a link to a case or two where the woman sued the man for just this support.  It depends on the circumstances.  If the woman was a green card shark, she'll just disappear and the man is off the hook.  But in the case posted, the man was physically abusive, so when the woman left him, she used the affidavit of support to sue him for support so she wouldn't have to go home to Russia.  The story is buried pretty deep in the archives.  It's rare, but the affidavit does get used sometimes, usually as a tool of revenge.  Or so it seems.
