Beauty queens?
« on: October 08, 2011, 11:19:21 AM »
Yesterday I was talking to some classmates and they mentioned Miss Mexico beauty pageant, it seems one will be held right here at my city soon to start the selection process to pick the representative of our state, in fact I can see the hotel it's going to be held right from my bedroom balcony.

It reminded me there has been a couple of guys around here complaining about shorties, as you know this pageant has height requirements... also education ones, they obviously have to be height-weight proportionate and decent looking, as well as being single with no kids, has anyone considered giving ladies like this a try? I mean this pageants are everywhere, that's how each country picks who will represent them in bigger ones after all, but being at such small scale when they start, you wouldn't need much more than stay at the same hotel and try to chat one up in the gym, pool, bar or whatever and I am sure they will not be that busy, some might be giving it a try just for the fun of it, in fact it is the most likely that the ones you consider 10's will not be chosen.

I was very surprised to see there are 2 other categories besides Miss (18-24) this ones of course are not miss universe candidates and they might have children, I would guess some are married though 25-38 and 39-50

Good point IV, I am a typical gringo standing 172.5 cm. By American standards I am medium height but in Colombia I tower over a lot of  people. I'm still amazed if I sit in the back row at Mass and when it comes time to stand up I am the tallest person in the church. I have to be cautious walking down the street or in businesses and houses because I always bump my head on something. Yesterday after I parked my motorcycle I turned to walk down the sidewalk and smacked straight into a low hanging sign advertising the parquedero.
Sorry IV, this has nothing to do with the topic in your thread, I just like bragging that I'm the tallest guy in church 8)

I know how you feel , Andy . I'm about 189-190 centimeters, and it seems that Colombians ( latinas in general) ,and Asians, revere this sort of thing. I think they even like this more than a full of head of hair , which I have, but the comments on the height were constant. When I travel to Europe ,it is a normal thing to see someone the same height.  I have to say, the European women didn't have the hips, waist, or bum that I require to fuel that fire, so I had to choose in terms of what makes my loins stir, uncontrollably. I like 'em bit tall and slender , but with those child baring hips, so I don't think I would do too well with "shorties" in a beauty pageant.

I dated beauty queen from Neiva for a while. I wouldn't recommend it. Not that she was a bad woman....it's just most Latinas are already overly infatuated with physical beauty. Beauty queens and pageant contestants are absolutely obsessed.

One point IV made is that it might be possible for a gringo to go to the hotel  where the beauty contestants are staying and try chatting them up as they come and go throughout the day and night. Hmmmmm, yes that could be a possibility. Any place there is a gathering of beautiful women there will also be friends and family members who are also likely to be attractive.
My first Colombiana girlfriend is a former Miss Antioquia from Medellin and still quite beautiful even in her late 40's. She was a handful emotionally, though. Very temperamental, demanding and neurotic. I was happy when the relationship started and absolutely delighted when it ended.

I remember several months ago DL joking that he was thinking about going to Barranquilla to the hotel where an introduction agency was having a big social with 100 women and he was going to hang around the lobby and check out the action.

That was something along the lines I was thinking, except in a place where there are no agencies, that would be the closest opportunity you would get to find a bunch of attractive single women in one place and since they wouldn't be that serious about it they would have the time to talk to you, assuming you are charming enough :)

I would guess women who are obsessed with this beauty stuff will be found further down the road in this contest, but if you keep an eye on the very first selections I am sure you will find plenty of ladies with "good child bearing hips" who will most likely be rejected for that very reason, but still fill the requirements asked: not too short (min. height 1.64cm... that is almost 5'4), no kids, educated, they also tend to bring a friend or relative their age for moral support, so you never know.

Then again Venezuela might be an exception, I've heard they train them for this stuff since they learn to walk, but most of you guys don't go for that type anyways.

Innocent Vixen:  Thanks for thinking of us guys.  Can you share with us some of the details: what city in Mexico, name of the hotel, and the date or weekend when the hotel will be hosting the contestants?

Just a trivia note:  7 of the last 10 Miss Universe winners are Latinas! You are in good company IV ;)
Second trivia note, Venezuela has produced more Miss Universe winners than any other country, possibly because they do proactive training beginning in the womb? :)

I_V you always are a treasure trove of ideas and yes the vast majority of the guys here are not looking for self-obsessed beauty queens, we would in all probability be attracted to a close relative of one who has to put up with the emotional roller-coaster of having a sister or cousin who thinks the world revolves around her aspirations. You know the level-headed but loyal type of personality. Say, what a great plot for a telenovella! That type of plot shows up in the movies here in the states all the time. jajajajaja

Believe me, it has been done to death in Latin America, too! The gorgeous but long suffering sister who is tragically attracted to the guy who is nuts about the selfish and self centered mega drama queen who treats him like dirt.

I looked up the website and there is another 2 soon, it's in spanish though, but here is the link: http://bellezamexicointernacional.org

you will see 3 posters there for each contest, click on them and you will get the hotel, date and exact location, the phone numbers provided are for the candidates though so I wouldn't use those!

Ensenada, Baja California: (my hometown) is a semi-touristic place focused by events or seasons like car races, sailing races, cycling races, gourmet events, gets filled with crazy teenage gringos in spring break, every tourist that visits for the first time is surprised because of the weather, not exactly cancun, but nice enough. No airport, closest one is Tijuana but if you are in the US you are better off arriving to SD, you still have to drive south for 2hrs.

Mexicali, Baja California: Border town, not as bad as Tijuana but very extreme weather, I know it's the hottest weather I've ever been to and it's supposed to be very cold in winter, Nobody goes out much because of the weather. There is an airport but again, if you are in the US you have the option to arrive to Calexico airport.

Los Mochis, Sinaloa: This is my mother's hometown... I'll be honest, not touristic at all and not many english speakers out there if any, Sinaloa state is famous for being full of mafiosos, but funny enough that state is also considered to have the most beautiful women of my country, most girls that have represented us at miss universe are either from Sinaloa or Guadalajara. A bit hot but not too bad in winter. There is an airport.

As for other countries I wouldn't know, I am sure BG could provide some info about Brazil for you guys if you ask nicely :)

The two best looking Mexicanas I have ever met are from Los Mochis. One was Miss USA and is working regularly in US movies. She still looks great even well into her 40s. The other, in her 20s, is married to a gringo who she met in the US.

I just got back from Morelia Michiacan. With three big universities, the place is literally crawling with young, beautiful women. That said, some of the town can be dangerous. It's best to know someone to help you figure out where to go and where to avoid.

I have some doubts about the personality of a women who would even compete in a beauty contest. There are plenty of beautiful women out there focused on things other than how everyone else perceives them. I'm not talking about getting dolled up with make-up and nice clothes to make them appear more attractive to others, I mean the concept of allowing themselves being publicly judged against others on their appearance - or caring about it in the first place. But to each his own.

Good idea Andy and should be a cake walk considering Colombian beauty contestants have the reputation of being available on a "prepago" basis.
