That's clear Zon.I think I get where you are coming from. I can see the benefit to this type discussion.I'll give you my take.

I've gotten to experience different cultures in my life and am glad I have.I have lived in another country and travelled to many.Something I have learned is that every country/culture has a "social veneer". In other words there is a way that people behave which is the cultural norm. Most of the time this social veneer doesn't reflect the reality of that country. In Colombia the people are happy, friendly and fun loving. The women are affectionate and down to earth.I am reminded of the social veneer that exists in the southern US called Southern Hospitality. The reality in Colombia is many lie, cheat and steal just like anywhere else in the world. You may see more of it Colombia just as you would see in any third world country.Colombia has been an unstable poor country for many years just like some other countries. In a place like Colombia survival is the name of the game so people do what they have to to get by. Some resort to whatever they have to and the choice is not an easy one.

These people are more in touch with reality.Countries like the US have a man made shield and are not exposed as much to the  reality of having to live to survive.I say it is reality because it seems that survival of the fittest seems to be the way nature intended.Strip away the "man made shield" here in the US and we would be nothing more than animals where the strong prey on the weak.

So there is a different world under the veneer in Colombia just like anywhere else.I always approach a country I don't know with that understanding. As an experienced traveler my advice would be to keep an open mind towards the people there. You already know that things aren't as they appear.I've always found where there are negatives there are also positives.Something else you seem to have found out as well.

I think Colombia is a great place to find a wife.I did. While there are women there that aren't really good wife material there are plenty more that are.I liked looking there because the good ones are easier to see than ina culture like the US. The conditions in a place like Colombia makes it easiier to see a woman's real character. You can see what a person will resort to for survival which to me also reveals one's character.

Good, solid points = "The conditions in a place like Colombia makes it easier to see a woman's real character. You can see what a person will resort to for survival which to me also reveals one's character."

And, that leads to an question that rolls around in my mind from time to time.

I have passed on many women that were "just fine".  Then, I have passed on many women that were "excellent / better than fine" because of their background.   Yes, one of the women I am thinking about was / is a prepago in Medellin.  The other was / is a web cam model.   Both of these women were very honest with me, and wanted me to be their novio exclusively, and wanted to change their life.  Both had qualities (cheerfulness, honesty, intelligence, beauty) that would have made them 9's in the USA.

Where does "damaged goods" start and end?   I guess that is an highly individualized question.

In some circles a beautiful, intelligent, honest, and loyal woman is called a unicorn.   While I am not busting out of my britches to get married - necessarily, I am a unicorn hunter - hahaha

That's a good question and an even better answer. It is highly individualized. Why can some men experience horryifying  things during a war and not seem affected but others are severely affected? It all comes down to how the individual processes and/or deals with the events. It's the same with women and abuse. So I would sum up by saying I would not call all women who have been abused "damaged goods".

===  Of Course, I do not think ALL women in Colombia are Prepagos.  That would not be real world.   However, I know that MANY MANY women in Colombia take on lovers, sponsors, multiple novios for mixed reasons of attraction, fun, escape, and the benefits that a man provides ===

Ok then,
Now pretty please don’t make such outlandish and stupid statements…all the women of Colombia cncompass a lot more ladies than those that you seem to always ‘accidently’ seem to surround yourself with.  If you want this thread to be about the 'unvarnished' truth, that truth should start with you.

So Zon now says all woman are not whores? I was wondering because that was what I read in the first post. I feel F.T. you pretty much summed up what the problem is... if you surround yourself with a certain woman that is all you will see i.e. damaged goods as Zon would say!

But the unvarnished truth is what I am hoping to see here.  And comments like this "if you surround yourself with a certain woman that is all you will see i.e. damaged goods as Zon would say!"  simply forward the notion that there is a small sliver of bad girls, otherwise the coast is clear.

I am a single guy and am attracted to pretty women. I also like to dance and party ... I have many friends that own bars / clubs.  I also have friends and clients that own web cam studios and model agencies - there is no lack of physical beauty in my trips to Colombia.  I also have made friends with professors and several universities.  I am outgoing and it is not difficult for me to introduce myself to a woman at any time, in any situation - no matter how clumsy my Spanish is.  ( I have not tried church groups HAHAHA )

The point is that, although my survey group maybe imbalanced by beauty, it is not imbalanced by class or occupation.   My observations have general application among females in Colombia.

Lord ain't that the truth! We got so many shades of grey here it seems like nothing is ever true 100%.
If you are unhappy change something. Quit your job. Move. Leave your miserable relationship. Stop making excuses. You are in control.

Well Zon, with your statements you could be classified as a "black and white kind of guy". You insinuated that since alot of sexual abuse goes on in Colombia abused women wouldn't make good wives. That's what I got from your posts anyway. And that "all women are prepagos" type of comment doesn't make you look too open minded either.Oh yeah but you say that was for "effect".

How do you know that alot of things these "black and white guys" write isn't for effect?Well, I'll let you in on something Zon, if the world(not just Colombia) is anything it is not black and white. Most people understand this.To explain or even describe these grey areas you are talking about would take posts that were at least 10,000 words in length at minimum. Many here do not want to write an encyclopedia to explain something. We are not all RobertAngel! hahaha!

Actually this entire thread is ridiculous, come on all Colombian girls are whores because they have been sexual attacked when young? So all the whores running around here in the U.S. are whores because they were attacked when young? If you hang out with nothing but whores, cam girls and oh models I guess you could get jaded and think "yea these poor girls from Colombia are all whores!

I floated this thread past my wife who yes is a Colombian woman from Barranquilla and all I got was a funny look like are you serious. The last monger we had here that use to make that same statement use to tell everyone he was looking for a wife too. So Zon you get what you look for if you want a woman that has no morels that is what you get and please don't fall back on you connections because we all know what you do for business.
