Benjio's post, for me, is 200% correct and is how I feel also.. I'm a black man also, with a little spanish/caucasion mixed in from my moms. Someone mentioned benjio was ranting...as a black man I took it as his strong opinion on what's wrong in our black communities and our black women.
He is "spot on" concerning the state of our health in the black community. Granted, that could apply to a lot of differant ethnicities, but is a proven statistic, the poorer you are, the unhealthier you may be due to you not affording good health care. And food loaded with fat/suger is always cheaper than healthy food and is prevelant in our black communities.
I've strictly dated black women all my life and was married to 2. I can assure you, that there isn't a more opinionated, in your face, attitude galore, group of women on this planet. As benjio alluded to, I believe its about the abundance of single black family homes...black women take on that roll of running the house, but in a relationship they try and do the same. I for one, am not your dam child, and it will be a cold day in hell before I have a women disrespect me. Black women(not all, but most do this).
After my divorce 3 yrs ago, after I caught her cheating on me with another married guy, I vowed not to date/marry another black female. The attitude, the cheating...that was it.
And her reason for cheating, I worked to much
...lmao...guess I shoulda been a bum, then I would of been cheated on bcuz I didn't make enough money.
I look forward to my trip to baq and too meet a differant culture of women who's mindset isnt about attitude, and twisting their neck all around, pointing their finger in your face and getting loud and boisterous to make a point. I once had my 5'5", 130 pd ex wife tell my 6'3" 275 pd ex military war vet behind, that she was gonna kick my ass. I just walked away bcuz your military training wants to kick in and "take her out..., but restraint is also taught in the military and restraint is what made me walk away. Black women will push you to those kinds of moments...maybe that's why we have so many black men in prison and a huge percentage of domestic violence.
My 9 year old daughter will not be brought up like that...I teach her respect, politness, yes sir/ma'am, no sir ma'am. I teach her to work hard and have pride in what you do.
And benjio..I think you'll agree with me on this, physically a black women has the looks, but I feel latino women have surpassed them in every aspect of that. They are just naturally beautiful.
Also I noticed on jamies site, the darker the colombian women, the more I am sure she wants a light complected gringo...and I'm usually right when i first glance at the photo then check her profile....have we as black men got a reputation with colombians??
To end this...my ex wife has a 22 yr old son....the time I was with his mother I tried to instill values in him that were truly missing. His response to my question of what he wanted in life..."I want to be a rapper"...are you kidding me. He is a btight young man, who now is serving 20 yrs for armed robbery. His response to me a few years ago...maybe I shoulda listened to you.  Ya think. Just another reason I'm upset about our black communities.

Amazingly, in Colombia, I have now found it is very difficult to find darker women that are interested in black men. Dennis and I have talked about this a lot. In my opinion they have some type of inner self loathing that makes them prefer lighter skinned, or even white men. I haven't looked at Jamie's site in probably a few weeks, but it wasn't uncommon to find most of the dark women specifying a preference for white men. A Colombian friend of mine from Cali agrees with me on this, and explained his theory to me when I was there last year. He said being dark in Colombia is hard. There's a lot of discrimination that comes along with it. Darker women would rather be with the lightest guy possible to try and even out the playing field for themselves and their children (which would obviously have a good chance at being born with lighter skin). I don't know if that's true or not, but up until this point, I can honestly tell everyone that most Colombian girls that are interested in me have a lighter complexion. If that ain't irony I don't know what is.

 I have had similar experiences to benjio in the US as have many of my Black male friends.  I agree with the sociological analysis.  Growing up in a female headed household makes women incapable of sharing the leadership of the household.  Multiply that by 40 years of such households being the majority, and the NORM is to marginalize Black men.  Remember that Tip O'Neill identified this as a pathology in the Black community IN THE EARLY 1960's!
 
 As for the complexion thing in Latin America.  One lady, whom I was not dating, just a casual acquaintance, half complained / half explained her theory on the matter.  She felt that most men preferred a racial mixture in women.  Pure European women were not attractive, nor pure African women.  Brown skin (not white, not black), brown wavy hair (not straight blond, not very curly), and curvy bodies (not very narrow hips or very flat behinds) was most attractive.   I have come across dark skinned ladies who had the 'good hair', 'good skin' obsessions going on.   Always straightening their hair at a salon and avoiding the sun so as to not get darker. 
 
 Still, there are plenty of ladies who are looking for a good and decent man without regard to the skin color he comes in.  Many women realize that there are already too few good men to go around and getting super picky will only mean they stay single longer.

Do not go to Colombia or really any part of SA trying to show that look. You will be very disappointed and embarrassed at what you receive . The DR, different, they like that vibe.

I try to see everyone the same in my life and judge the person, not the race. You will do fine in SA as a Black man. One of the hottest Paisas I ever met married a Black man from Kansas City. She really dug him and he was a really good guy, so keep on keeping on the search.

That's funny. And the tats are not just reserved for the girls in their teens and twenties ... many a middle-aged ... errr ... cougar ... has a little ink to show off. The problem is they didn't consider the effects of gravity and what was once a sexy little rose on their boob has grown into a long and viney weed on parched, sun-dried skin.

Ditto, Traveler. But still, there are women in Colombia sporting tats. Why the women want to look like whores is probably best answered by a psychological professional but low self-esteem and using sex, or advertising the possibility of sex, to raise value comes to mind for some reason.

i think it would get really old after a while
i would rather be with a woman  that i can be myself around. in my case that turned out to be a lady from the Philippines but I'm sure there are some good ladies in L.A.

Lion tamer...I like that piglett..a perfect/accurate description in dealing with most bw's. A lot of my black acquantinces who I've known for years, got tired of trying, but never succeding in that role and now date/marry any other ethnicity except bw. Sad that we have to go that route, but I need calmness in my daily life with my girl...not bw ghetto drama. Dealt with it for to many years.

I have a (white) buddy getting very serious with his bw girlfriend and she is somewhat of an anomaly as far as I can tell, she's shy, easy going, and very feminine, especially considering she grew up in the inner-city in the South. She's also a health nut, in great shape and doesn't go in for any weaves, acrylic nails, strange piercings, tattoos or, as Dave Chapelle says, ho uniforms. She's a real sweetie. I think you probably have to go to South America or the Caribbean to find many like her.
