trip booked. Accommodations etc?
« on: July 10, 2011, 11:41:13 PM »
I'm going to colombia. I'm planning to use Jamie's service. It just seems like a better use of time than relying solely on dating sites, which I will also use once i've met up with my 40 or whatever chicas from jaime's...

I don't have a predetermined itinerary. I'm still trying to figure out what works best for me in terms of entry/exit points to colombia. Once i'm in BAQ, I think i'll use Jaime's accommodations, but i'm open to other suggestions.

I'm also interested in places it stay in Cartagena when I'm done at Jamie's if things don't go well with any of the women I meet. I have some potentials dates from CC and LAC lined up for when I'm there so I'd prefer them to be girl friendly... I don't know if that's a problem at most hotels down there... It's hard to book an apartment w/o specific dates, which I can't know ahead of time because I can't know how things will go in BAQ, so I'm thinking hotels are better. In terms of pricing, I don't want to pay $200 a night but I don't need to slum it either.

I would probably like some place to stay up near Santa Marta and Taynora national park as well. They look interesting, time permitting.

I don't think i'll be booking anything in advance. I want to stay flexible as primary reason for trip is to meet wife material.

I searched and there's some older info on the site, but a lot can change over a few years so I'm asking again.

Thanks

The two hotels I have stayed at the most in BAQ are Hotel Atlantic Blue, which is within walking distance to Jamie's place and Hotel Caribe 79. Both are moderately priced and the staff are super cool. Neither has a pool however. But if you wanted to have a cool date with one of your favorite girls, you could go to Hotel El Prado for the day. I forget how much it is, but it was reasonable and it included brunch. I stayed at Hotel El Prado also, and the rooms there are not as good as Atlantic Blue or Caribe 79 IMO. And the location is not as good.

If you go to Cartagena and want a moderately priced, romantic place in Centro Historico I recommend Hotel Tres Banderas. Something more expensive? Casa del Curato.

The best deal in Santa Marta/Rodadero is Hotel Betoma IMO.

Jamie's place is cool. Just make sure you follow any advice that he or his translators give you, because if you search the archives here, you will see more people who regretted not following their advice than those who followed it and got into trouble. I would also advise you to pick a lot of "borderline" ladies from his site because it was incredible to me that many of these borderline girls looked like knockouts in person.

Good luck!

I'm definitely staying at jamie's place while i'm in baq. It's worth it to just continue seeing girls that drop in. Not sure whether or not I should keep the translator beyond day 3... I'm not anywhere near fluent yet but i'll hopefully be able to get by.

What's the "oceanview" actually look like?

Looking at the hotels for SM and CTG now. It's surprising how much some of these places cost. You'd think they were in NA for the quality/price (not a good thing). I can do better in some major NA cities in terms of price/quality (via sites like ubid or hotels.com though).

hey chameleon,

it is smart to stay flexible and not book anything in advance...you don't know who you are going to meet just yet...shoot if you are meeting 40 plus gals from Jamies you have a good chance of finding a couple you want to investigate further...the translator idea is good too, after a couple days you should be able to determine if you want to continue using one or not...after you get acclimated i'd say communicating without an interpreter is better, even if it is 4 times more difficult for you...having the 3rd wheel around just does not make things very romantic.
good luck,

What's the "oceanview" actually look like?

If you really wanted the best ocean view in Rodadero Beach in Santa Marta a great hotel for that is Hotel La Sierra. It costs more than Betoma, but if you request a room with a view you will get an unbelieveable view, especially when the sun is setting over the water. Wow! And you will see all the palm trees that line the board walk. It is pretty awesome. But the downside to that is noise which is non-stop until like 4 in the morning. It is OK when you are in party mode, but after a few days tends to wear on your nerves.

Hotel Betoma, the two times we stayed there, had pretty good views also from the balcony, but it is like a block from the beach. And maybe some of the rooms do not have any view, I am not sure. But it is quieter and much better price.

Another option if you want the good view is to go to some of the apartment places right on the beach like "Edificio Karey" or "Iroka". There should be someone downstairs or in front of the place hawking rooms "por dias". I have never done it but others on the old Poor But Happy site have with good results. And the views and prices are really good based on some pics I have seen.

In BAQ of course there is not a real "oceanfront" per say. You can see the muddy river from some of the higher buildings there and I guess that is kind of cool.

In CTG, the beaches are not as impressive as Rodadero. In Centro Historico where the real charm of CTG is, there are not any views of the oceanfront. In the other parts, there is Laguito, which is a lagoon without anything to really see, but the side facing the ocean proper (Boca Grande) I have never stayed at.

My wife and I stayed at the Estelar Santmar in Santa Marta. It was reasonably priced at the time and we were right on the beach.
