Author Topic: Colombian Futbol Championship - Atletico Nacional - Medellin (Read 1414 times)

Tonight was the second game for the Liga Postobon Championship, with Nacional beating Equidad of Bogota. The first game last week in Bogota Equidad came out on top 2 - 1. Tonight National was up 2 - 0, with 40 seconds left in extra time, Equidad scored a beautiful goal to make the score 2 - 1. So with the combinded total at 3 - 3 the game went to a shootout. Nacional's super goalkeeper, Gaston Pezzuti stopped the first two penalty shots and THREE of five penalty shots by Equidad !!!!!!
There will be a lot of noise tonight, and some drinking (some, jajaja). Since I have lived here, out of six championship games, five of six have been won by Paisa teams - 2 Nacional, 2 Once Caldas (Manizales) and 1 Independant Medellin. We have our Nacional - Paisa Pride flag flying over our terraza. Medellin, life is good. Is there another city in Colombia?

I downloaded your photo and comment about soccer. I think you will be buying me a bottle of Aguardiente (large) next time your in Medellin, or your photo and comment (I will edit it and make it much worse, of course) will find its way to the homepage of every computer in Baranquilla, along with the bad things you said about Junior!
Hockey is THE sport for sure. Is Vancouver still burning?

I had to laugh when I read comments that an American team (Boston) beat a Canadian team (Vancouver) - those fools should know they're both Canadian teams with only a few scattered Americans playing. The whole province of Newfoundland was rooting for Boston because they had a Newfie player (Michael Ryder). Actually Vancouver had more US players (6) than Boston (4)!

All 3 goals were nice - the one by Roberto Polo to send the game to a shootout was a nice volley.

Im in Pereira, and last nights the streets were jammed with cars and trucks, horns blaring, people waving from truck beds...etc. I was sititng in an outdoor restauranty with my date....and the noise from the street was so loud.. I could barely hear her talk!

Why?

A team from Pereria was playing Nacional of Medellin!

This moning I walked over to Plaza Bolivar and I saw three young guys in green and white striped Nacional shirts sleeping under filthy blankets in a doorway near the square.

When I lived in Medellin, my apartment was aobut 15 blocks from Estadio.....the stadium where Nacional plays their games.....on game nights I stayed IN and watched on television. I went to ONE Nacional match at the stadium...and it was just crazy......I should have known better because whn I lived in Bogota, I went to ONE Millionarios-Santa Fe match.

Maybe the most out of control environments I ve ever been in in my life (and Im including rock concerts inthe US when I was a kid)) have been those two football matches n Colombia! ......

Never again will I go to a match!

But, I ve become a football fan, not necessarily of Colombiian soccer, but of the Spanish league.

And Leonel Messi iof Argentina and FC Barcelona s a GOD!!!!! The VERY BEST footlball player in the world......and he s only 23 or 24 YEARS OLD!!!!!

Actually in the US we call it Girls Junior High School gym class!!!! Football is a real man's game here! HAHAHA!!! Just joking.....soccer or football is actually tougher than it looks.I enjoyed watching and playing some when I lived in Mexico.I was much younger then!
