read in  my local paper this morning that the US govt will allow just about anybody to travel to Cuba, as long as its for " learning" . you have to sign up with a museum or some kind of school.  would be a fun trip to take.

Other than to see old cars, why would one want to go to Cuba? I've got a friend who was born there, left with his family when he was 10 yo, just as Fidel was taking over.  Seems like a year or two ago the US government gave the OK for former residents and/or people with relatives to travel there.  He said that he couldn't bear to go back and see the way it has become.

i have a friend who used to go to Colombia but now goes to Cuba. his reasons were....
1, a lot cheaper
2, a lot safer, no crime, no narcos, no shootings, no Farc
3, nice island with nice beaches
4, cute girls
5, closer
I'm sure their are more reasons, but those were the ones i remember he said

With certainty, its a beautiful country. But if you don't have a relative there, I don't know if I would want the attention of the trip. IMHO, it would just create too many questions every time I re-enter the motherland.

every year, they relax travel to the island. if you go through Mexico, its not a problem and many direct flights. i know a few guys who go this route.

when old Fidel kicks the bucket, which will be pretty soon, that place will really open up. they know they cant sustain the current model of socialism, even they know it doesn't work.
