Where is IV?
« on: May 14, 2011, 02:42:37 PM »

I'm really interested to know how her long-distance 'date' is working out.

I guess the fact that she is not posting is a positive thing. Anyway, I wish her all the best with her new adventure...

This almost sounds like a 'where are they now?' kind of thread. I'm wondering what happened to Zulu? Did he ever go and meet his woman in the Phillipines?

Yes, he did and according to him it was great. I saw some pictures... I don't know if he will post here again due to the hostility he faced about his last posts.

I just talked to IV, she should be posting soon.

Thanks guys (and bg) for all the positive vibes, they reached destination loud and clear!!

Everything went great, I am a little sad he is not around anymore but happy I met him, I am aware I met him on "vacation mode" but we are making plans for me to visit next time and I am sure I'll get to see a bit of his every day life then. So yes, I am in a relationship now  :)

One of the most satisfying actions one can do on one's Facebook page is changing one's status to "In a relationship". Congrats IV.

Haha, at one point he was actually teasing me saying he would come back to the board just to post his trip report, since I know he won't I'll give you guys the short version.

I arrived at terminal 1 but turns out he was at terminal 2, thankfully it is at walking distance, we forgot to mention what we were wearing to make sure we recognize each other, I recognized him from afar but it was a cloudy day and when I got closer the sun came out and suddenly his hair looked a different color and made me hesitate, then noticed he was staring at some girl I thought he might not be alone, took a look at the girl and noticed she was in her little world with her family, long dark hair... so I kept walking and waved as soon as he looked my way.

We were supposed to have lunch at an indian restaurant after getting the rental car but his GPS could not find it, both starving we just went to seaport village and picked a random restaurant, then walked around and talked, after that we were on our way to Ensenada, that night he took me home kind of early and agreed to meet a little late so I could have breakfast with my mother (it was mother's day in Mexico).

After that the days kind of blend in to each other, ended up not cooking for him, he said he was on vacation mode so I shouldn't do anything either and that he will be happy to try my cooking when I visit him. He was very surprised with the weather because it was exactly like where he lives so he was glad he took my advice and packed a couple of sweaters, we didn't really do any tourist stuff.

The last day we spend it in San Diego in Gaslamp area, we checked some galleries, found an indian restaurant and we went to a mall where we watched a movie, he called his visit our 5 day first date.

Oh and he checked out my mom, mentioned how pretty and young she looks and said "if she was single..." so I hope that is a good sign haha

IV,

I--and a lot of people here, are very happy that your visit went so well. I wish you could recount a little more about the 'chemistry'--what sort of things you noticed liking about each other--maybe he should post! LOL

I thought it was cute and intelligent when you said:

""After that the days kind of blend in to each other"'

So we have to give you a serum which will bring back those memories for putting into words, I guess!  :D

Best wishes!!

It may be a little awkward for her to get into more details because I think she met her boyfriend on this site so he will be reading everything.

It may be a little awkward for her to get into more details because I think she met her boyfriend on this site so he will be reading everything.
Not awkward at all, he says he hasn't used the forums for years and I believe him, even if he did I wouldn't mind, yesterday when we were talking on the phone I told him about my post, he called you guys "my people" haha.

I must admit I am a little selfish with this things, I like my privacy, for guys here that have known me for a while they probably remember I did not post much details about my ex and didn't even talked about how bad the relationship was until about a year after it ended and even then I did not go into detail.

But I see no harm to talk about chemistry, maybe it will help someone out there to get a clearer idea of what is on a girls mind when they meet for the first time, so here it goes:

At the airport, the moment the sun hit his hair and made me wonder if it was in fact the right guy, I thought how pretty his hair color was, then when he looked at me and I waved I was feeling a little shy, got close and said hi with a quick peck on the cheek and immediately was glad I decided to wear heels because he probably didn't notice I had to stand on my tiptoes a little.

The feeling I got was of both being very excited and we just had small talk and laughed about the misunderstandings but glad we didn't take that long to find each other, he seemed very calm and relaxed and I was surprised his voice was quieter than I remembered, on the transport from the airport to the car rental he got quiet and I started to think maybe he was just shy in person and of course I blurted this out while I was thinking it, he said quiet and shy are 2 different things and that he was not shy at all with a genuine smile on his face, I found his personality very soothing and was not tense at all.

At the car rental he had to fill in some paperwork so I waited on a seat pretty far away from where he ended up, turns out the soothing effect goes away as soon as he does and started getting a little worried maybe he was being so quiet because he didn't like me that much and even went as far as try to remember the girl he was looking at wondering if she might be more his type than me and that had disappointed him, she was probably within the range of what he had mentioned he liked, she was just taller and a bit heavier than me but not fat, curlier hair than mine, didn't really get to see her face.

He got back with a guy next to him to lead us to the car, quite the salesman, he tried to make polite conversation with me but I just kept my distance, I don't like salesmen or people with that kind of personality that much, but after we got in and he still had paperwork for my guy to sign we ended up surrounded by them, most of them "checking the car out" this will sound like I am some narcissist but I am pretty sure more than a couple where checking me out instead, I was very uncomfortable and as nice and polite they were, I couldn't wait for them to go away.

At seaport village we got out of the car and I've never been to the area so I didn't know which way to go, he must have noticed that lost look on my face because he hold my hand and guided me to the entrance where there was a list of restaurants and asked me which one I wanted to go, since I didn't know any I said whatever he chose was fine, he chose one that had a second level with ocean view, it was nice, by then we were having a more fluid conversation and he was letting that playful side of his show, which is something I've always liked about him even when we were only emailing, so I was relieved that trait was there in person as well.

After lunch we walked by the ocean and we were holding hands again pretty much as soon as we stood up from our seats, it felt very natural, I don't even remember if I ever moved my hand to hold his, they both kind of always found their way to each other.

In fact now that I think about it, after the second day we were always holding hands, even while he was driving, at starbucks (turns out he is a bit of a caffeine junkie so we were there a few times) something funny happened, we were sitting in a cozy area in front of one of those tables where students usually do team work and this american guy walked by saying "oh here is perfect" almost at the same time took a glance our way and said to whoever he was with "you know, it doesn't have to be here, let's just go over there..." we were just talking and holding hands but I could feel sparks fly, I guess that american guy saw them and made him feel like he was intruding or something  :P

After a few days I asked him about why was he so quiet on our way to the rental, he explained he is just used to analyze people on the first few mins but that he was also tired from the long flight and might have gone into deep thought a bit too long making it too obvious, by then I had already forgotten about my previous worries but was still curious, I am kind of glad I didn't know what he was doing because that would have made me all tense.

You're definitely an analyzer, IV. It's hard to believe you're a Mexicana, you could be a character right out of Seinfeld.
