Ray is that a stick or a club you have there??
hey you should be proud of me being that i love to procrastinate
today i called the NVC in Portsmouth
did a change of address for my wife
(form AR-11 is only for aliens that are already in the US so it wouldn't work)
also while i had the guy on the phone i also extracted the mailing address for the
"choice of address & agent form" which i had Marily fill out while i was in the PI.
i then jumped on VJ & got the 411 on how to get my tax transcripts for the last 3 years.
called my pals at the IRS & ordered those transcripts on up
then i went down town & deposited my $88 so i could go on-line as soon is i returned home & pay for the AOS on-line.

so ease up Ray this little piggy is on the case

Piggy, didn't you get emails from NVC with the subject line "PAOSF I-130 UNIVERSAL" &  "ACL UNIVERSAL"?
If you did  - read them
If we were all forced to wear a warning label, what would yours say?

The both contain DS-3032 & instructions.

Since you made the payment - the next sets of emails you will receive will be from the Dept of State.
One telling you that the payment is "IN PROCESS".
One telling you that payment "IS PAID"
And one containing the cover letter to include with I-846.

The email cycle will repeat itself after you pay the DS-230 fee.

You may get a checklist email.

The final email you will get will be one with the subject heading "STD P4 APP"  - that will be package 4.

Marily filled out  DS-3032 but what about the other documents? DS-3032 could have been done via email.
If we were all forced to wear a warning label, what would yours say?

Piglett, Don't worry about us giving you a hard time. It's kinda like the day my wife starts not keeping an eye on me and acting a bit jealous of other pretty women 'too close' to me. When it stops, THEN we need to worry!

But watching how your USCIS paperwork's unfolding, I'm afraid you have some of my own bad habits. But it helps for us to come to grips with them and face them head on. I did, although:

"For WHATEVER reason, it took me the LONGEST time to realize I'm a procrastinator!"

Is the world starting to change the direction it turns, or am I wrong--is our 'resident cheapskate' 'El Pigglet'--'Zeeee Pig'--'His Pigness'--'His Highness of Swineness'--- of P-L is this the SAME guy who's actually coming UP with ideas for expensive things to send over to to the PI--TO people we figured would never see even a single sentimo from him?.

The way things are going around here, Ray's gonna end up writing warm and fuzzies for Hallmark greeting cards!

Maybe we do need a flame war!--(NO-not really)

By the way a sentimo's a coin worth so little, (I think 50 went into a single peso and figure, about 45 peso's will get you a dollar) they stopped making them--even THERE--the ones they might chance to find, having a nifty little hole in them, can make good spacers, or short term washers for leaky faucets but little else.
Whether you think you can or think you can't--you're right!

Neither. It's a rusty fire poker.

Well, it's about time you got busy on that visa process! Good for you.

BTW-STOP telling Piglett about the 'no weight restrictions' on balikbayon boxes. I'm afraid that eventually, he's going to comprehend what we've been trying to tell him and then he'll be putting himself and his lovely asawa in those boxes, instead of springing for airline tickets!

Man...I've been so busy with work and getting her settled in that time is slipping by fast. Her mom is flying in tonight and the wedding is on Saturday and still so much to do...we've been running all around and then this morning we were both like "holy crap, we're getting married in a couple days!" Doesn't seem like she's been here that long. Although the process seemed arduously slow while it was going on, all of a sudden it seems awfully quick.

Well jm, it’s about time! I was just thinking the other day that you guys must be pushing it pretty close to the 90-day deadline.

That’s nice that her mom can be here for the wedding. Did she have any problems with the visitor visa?

Are you going to take your bride sailing for your honeymoon?  ;D

Advance congrats and best wishes to you and your bride,

The only problem with the visa was that the day they went in the consulate said the computers were down and they weren't sure when they would be back up. They had to wait around for a few hours but fortunately got in (otherwise would have had to get a new appointment which would have been too late). They got through customs wayyyyy faster than my fiance. We were a ltitle late getting to the airport and arrived at the international arrivals entry point right as they were getting there. Took my fiance almost 2 hours to get through but only about 15 minutes for them.

We're putting off the honeymoon for a bit, at least until she can leave the country. She'd like to go to Indonesia...I thought a Caribbean cruise would be good....we'll see.

We're very close to the time limit...pushed it out a bit so that my parents could be there, then a bit more so her mom could be there...we're within about a week of the limit.

Wedding went off fine. Better than we expected really. My parents helped out a lot with the final preparations and it was simple but very nice with loads of great food. I'm in the process of collecting photos (we had several amateur photographer relatives who took a ton of photos) and who knows how long that will take....

Only hitch was one of her aunts (who lives in the US) was constantly criticizing her over the entire weekend. Just about drove my wife nuts. Even in the car when my wife was providing her a ride to the wedding. We didn't get much time to ourselves either because we were showing her relatives around. Was nice after they left and we got a few hours to just relax.

We're a bit behind on the AOS but should have it out next Monday or Tuesday.

Now that we're almost done with the US immigration process, we're getting ready to start the Australian immigration process so I can move over there with her. We're planning to move sometime mid-late next year. Sounds pretty good and I can even practice Australian law pretty easily it turns out, but we're worried they might require her to provide something similar to our affidavit of support which would be very tricky. It's discretionary whether they ask for it and we're hoping we have enough savings where they won't ask, otherwise could get very expensive as we'd have to pay a company to provide an assurance of support. I'm burned out on my job quite a bit though and looking forward to a bit of a change....plus this summer has been the [snip]tiest weather in decades here in WA. Almost winter again and we never really had a summer. I think we're setting some sort of record for immigration fees paid in a calendar year though.

jm,

Congrats and best wishes on your marriage.

Actually, you’re not anywhere near done with the US immigration process. There is still the Removal of Conditions a couple of years down the road and then the (optional) Naturalization process a year or so after that.

If you fully intend to move to Australia permanently and never return to the USA, then you don’t have to worry about the rest of the immigration stuff after the AOS.

BUT, realize that she will potentially lose her permanent residency status and her Green Card will not get her back into the US. Staying out of the US for over a year usually automatically causes you to lose your residence status. Also, extended stays out of the country for even 6 months may affect future immigration/naturalization status.

Without current residency status, your wife will need to apply for a visitor visa to even make a short trip back to the US.

Before you start planning to move overseas, make sure you fully investigate the US immigration consequences for your wife. If you want to keep the option open for returning to live in the US at a later date, then you may want to wait a few more years until she can gain US citizenship through naturalization before making the move. That would vastly improve your future options.

Are you guys thinking of eventually going for Australian citizenship?

Ray
