Hair vs Shaved
« on: March 25, 2011, 01:53:29 PM »
Ok.  I am 33, and in the early stages of a trip to South America searching for wife.  I have blond hair, which is quite fine and straight.  It looks pretty decent I have a history of women liking it.

However, even thought I am not balding at all, I prefer to shave my head due to ease of maintenance.  And I have done so for so many years I can't rememeber having hair very much.

So my question to the experienced travelings...  Hair or Shaved?

Will I have a better chance attracting women with a full head of blond hair?  Or are shaved head popular?

Also, if I do grow my hair out for a trip, am dooming myself for a life with hair as any wife I'd attract would be upset if I shaved it?

Post pics of both, and let the women on the forum vote.

In my opinion its all about self awareness and self esteem...if you are comfortable in your skin the ladies will react positively to you. I'm 80% bald and keep the remainder of my hair close cropped and I've never had any lady mention it as being good or not good.
I know a man in Manizales who does well with the ladies and he has shaved his head all the years he's lived here and he's close to your age. he currently has a steady live in girlfriend but still still could hit it off well with other girls in town.
I have a 50 year old English friend in Pereira who shaves his head and he has more girls than I can remember. Just last weekend he met two 30 somethings in the dance club and spent all evening with them and the next day with one of them. He has never mentioned to me his cue ball head being a problem with getting dates.
My advice, wear it or don't wear it proudly, the girls will like you just the way you are most comfortable with yourself.
IG has a good suggestion, post pics and let the ladies chime in. I'll bet you look just fine the way you are.
If you are unhappy change something. Quit your job. Move. Leave your miserable relationship. Stop making excuses. You are in control.

Good advice AndyLee. I think you should go with what you want and are comfortable with.

I would go with others have said, go with what makes you comfortable. I can't imagine it being a complete deal-breaker
 over your hair...

Me, I now have wayyy too many greys creepin' in so I keep my hair shaved almost bald. It makes me look a little younger
as those pesky greys don't look so prominent and I'm not going to bother dyeing it weekly. My lady likes the greys and never
cared one way or another, so for me it's just trying to keep from looking like an old grandpa. 8)

Even though there are blonds in Colombia, a natural blond with blue eyes is regarded as a nice novelty. I like to keep my hair in a military boot camp cut during the summer but if I were going to Colombia I would let it grow out but still keep it well-groomed.

i've been to colombia with both a shaved head and with short blondish hair, although my hairline is receding...i know my wife likes it better when my hair is grown out, but i like it better shaved....In my opinion if you have blond hair let it show, although I don't think it all that important either way.

Yeah, well fathertime - you're such a looker you don't have to worry about your hair. I bet you give then that look in your avatar and they flock to you by the dozen.

Thanks Jeff, I've always felt it was a very becoming picture of me.  I noticed quite an uptick of interest from the ladies on Jamie's website when I led with this pic.  :)

It's right up there with Derek Zoolander Magnum. Just remember there is more to life than being really, really, really good looking.

I'm just glad we're talking about the hair on your head.  From the title, for a minute there, I thought the, um, "Brazilian" argument had reared its ugly head again.   :-[

OP

i can only speak about my experiences in the Philippines
however there & Colombia seem to have some things in common
the ladies in the PI were wild about my blue eyes
so if you throw in some blond hair too even if it's cut really short (maybe 1/4inch) there will probably be sooo many hot babes that "attack you" you mite require special police protection  ;D :D ;D

have a great trip

If that is how you feel keep shaving it, growing your hair just to attract a woman and then shaving it for the rest of your life once you are married makes me think of those women that use extra padded bras, if they get their guy thanks to it, when time comes, the guy will be pretty disappointed.

oh dear, I think I have become fluent in guy speech! to balance it out let me give you a female point of view, I think balding is the only valid excuse for a man to shave his head since it actually takes more time to maintain, I do not find it attractive but I am sure that women that go for the "bad guy" will appreciate the look.

I wonder if a shaved head is related to military service? Or as IV points out, the bad boy image?
Quite frankly I think it looks cool on some guys and dorky on others (me for example). If I lost or shaved all my hair then they'd really know how big my ears are :-[
I might also point out that here in the village occasionally I'll see a little boy  with a shaved head, the result of having lice. Usually the first day or so he looks a little crestfallen.
Funny thing, I don't recall seeing any little girls with shaved heads, apparently they don't get lice?

No sir ... at that young age, they have cooties; which apparently not even lice can live with.  :D

IV didn't exactly come out and say it, but it does give off that cholo vibe - at least that's what the younger Mexicanas I know say. All the women I know like longer hair - except the cholas, of course.

I'm going with Utopiacowboy on this.  If you have blond hair I would definitely grow it out as Latinas go ga-ga over blonde haired guys.  If you have blue eyes that is another BIG plus.  While we are in the looks department if you have a mustache say goodbye to it as 99.9 percent of Colombian women hate them.  Buy some name brand clothes, leave the shorts and flip flops at home, get a manicure and bring along some nice shoes.

I hope you are practicing your Spanish and that you take your time looking for a wife because at your age you can afford to do so.

Here is a photo of what would be a popular hairstyle in Colombia for you.
