She didn't scam me, she flat out lied to me.

What’s the difference? In this case, same thing…

Meet her in person face to face before you send any money.

Excellent advice!

Shes basically a wonderful person.

She’s a liar. She lied to you, she lied on her visa application, she lied about the visa requirements, etc., etc… Why do you consider a committed liar to be a “wonderful person”?? Why do you even now continue to believe her stupid bull shyt??

Yes Ray she is a liar but you sir are incorrect. A medical examination is required for a visa.

You are a blunt and outspoken person and typically I appreciate that in someone, but in the future please try to make certain that what you are saying are the facts and not just your opinions.

Bill- you are misreading. The visa that your former prospective girlfriend was travelling on should have been a non immigrant visa. Non immigrants do not require a medical examination. The section that you are linking to states clearly it is for immigrants. So- either your friend was the beneficiary of an approved petition for alien relative or not. NIV vs. IV.

Then I stand corrected and Ray I apologize for the tone of that last post. That fact is that its done and now I'm done with this. I don't want to dwell on it any longer. It's bad enough living it. Maybe I'll post more on this another time but for now I'm done.

Bill you are incorrect - no medical exam or police clearance is needed for a tourist visa. As your link indicates, they are both needed for immigrant visas but not a tourist visa. My wife's parents both recently received B-2 visas and I did all the paperwork for them - the only thing that is required is to fill out the DS-160 online visa application form. You then take documentation which shows strong ties to your home country to the interview (real estate deeds, car registration, bank statements, etc) - but at no time is either a medical exam or a police clearance asked for or required.

I already pointed out in a previous post that the Manila Embassy was closed on December 27th - so no visas were issued that day as it was a non-working day for
embassy staff.

Yes, what's done is done. Would anybody else like to get in line and kick the guy? Yes, some of us had worries and concerns and we shared them with him and then we tried to give him advice on everything under the sun to prepare for her coming here to visit.

To say or to insinuate that he lied to anyone here, is an insult and wholly inappropriate in my opinion. Was it you who was hurt here? The guy's taken his lumps, he's no dummy and certainly deserves better than what he's received.

I don't consider pointing out/correcting incorrect & inconsistent statements in the story which Bill still considers to be true as getting in line to kick the guy when he is down. By making light of such things, hopefully others who may read this thread can learn from Bill's unfortunate experience.

I fully agree, Capstone, and it has been done more tactfully by some than others. I think even Bill has done so (trying to help others) in telling people in his words that as he sees it now from experience, there's really no substitute for going there. It sure as hell isn't easy for him to come forward and say so at this time.

I just have watched this whole thing unfold and thought to myself it was akin to a feeding frenzy at times.

Bill,

She is not a "wonderful person"

Robert,

Bill is a stand up guy but he needs the pixie dust to be blown out of his eyes.

He is still seemingly under her spell, I mean this woman is a criminal, he is the victim and he wants to eventually meet her!!  For what?

Bill

She is a crook, she lied to you, took you in confidence, manipulated you and stole your money.

Stop this cycle now, please.

She NEVER got a visa, She NEVER intended to come visit you, and she is a hardcore scammer that needs to be exposed.

Put her name on the board, expose her so that no one else will suffer a similar fate.  I gaurantee, she is chatting up more men and setting up her next victims right now. This is her job and she is very very good at this.

Don't continue making the same bad decisions, you don't owe this crook anything.

Do the right thing, expose her!

Bill,

There is no need to apologize. Yes, what’s done is done, but I don’t get the feeling that you are done with her yet. Are you?

I think it is important to the readers here to recognize a scam when they see one. I know that you still have strong feelings for her and you continue to make excuses for her and refuse to accept the fact that you have been scammed by a pretty face. If you look at the facts here, then it is hard to deny.

1. Visitor visas do not require medical exams and/or police clearances, despite what she told you.

2. The Embassy was closed on the day you say her visa was issued. Rizal Day is normally celebrated on Dec 30, but was changed to Dec 27 for 2010 by presidential decree. I had read that earlier, but forgot all about it until Capstone reminded us. The Embassy is closed on US and Philippine holidays and does not conduct normal business on those days, including the issue of visas. If you saw a visa, then it was a virtual certainty that it was a fake.

3. If the visa was a fake, then any flight itinerary or plane tickets (or receipts for same) that you saw were almost certainly fake also. IMO, she took your money and enriched herself…period. It doesn’t matter how much money you sent to her, but it does matter that you accept the fact that you were ripped off so you don’t make the same mistake again of sending even more money to her.

Bill, you accepted the fact that she is a liar, but you still want to believe what she is telling you is the truth. The FACT is that you don’t know the REAL truth either but you have every reason to distrust EVERYTHING that she now tells you.

The solution to that dilemma is simple…just shut her out of your life now and save yourself even more heartache.

I don’t blame you for feeling piled up on but once again, ALL of the advice and opinions offered here in this thread were not only intended for your benefit, but for the benefit of all the readers here. Remember that this is a public forum with a large following.

And yes I tend to be direct and blunt when necessary. Robert berates me when I am blunt and Zulu berates me when I am not blunt enough, but I really don’t care either way. That’s the way I am.

Good luck in your future, and please accept that there are “sweet, innocent looking” young ladies in the Philippines who’s ‘job’ it is to separate you from your money and they have no shame whatsoever in telling you any and all forms of lies to accomplish that end, even involving their entire family in the deceit. If you think that is only my opinion and not fact, then ask Dave H or someone else now living over there. He sees this stuff every day.

Peace, out...

Ray

The damage have been done and Bill need to take some time at this moment and mend his wounds. He needs the time to clear his head, to rethink, to re-energize, to recollect himself & his thoughts. He needs to see what happened and say "damn, this s**t did happen to me", then pick himself up and move on. Then hopefully, he will tell his story so others can learn from it so that they will not make the same mistake (s).

I would also like to add that Bill previous stated that this was not just a one-on-one with her, he also chatted with her family - if that was the true family. And that would be an an extra if that was her true family.
If we were all forced to wear a warning label, what would yours say?

Kfc,

Glad you mentioned her so called "family".  She is a real pro, but considering the amount of cash that was probably exchanged, they all had a great payday!!

Expose this con artist and her phony family!

correct the poor guy just got his teeth kicked in
he needs some time to open his eyes & see the big picture
we have all been chatted up by scammers but some how Bill found a pro.
8 months is 1 hell of a long time to wait for a payday, but i guess in the end she got what she was after (his cash)

walk it off Bill
all other scammers will now seem like children
you will be able to see them coming 5 miles away in heavy fog (i hope)

Does a scammer, even a pro, have 8 months to wait for, let's say for discussion, $2,000, for plane ticket money and a visa app. fee? Only Bill could answer this as well, but let's assume there was little doubt this girl was only talking to him.

It seems to me a bigger piece of this puzzle is: we do not know yet what she supposedly lied to immigration about (and to him) that was such a deal breaker. Hopefully, he will tell us this soon.

Here's the missing fact so that we can maybe shut this down. He lied about his gender. I have some fairly risque pictures and there is no way you can tell. He had a bogus birth certificate and all of his paper work was false. A person he had been having some problems with turned him in to the Philippine authorites and he was arrested at the airport for fraud before he ever got on the plane. This is the story I got from him or her or whatever. Maybe this is all bull sh-it too. I don't know. The fact is that its a lesson learned. If this is the real story then it's a lot better that this happened than had he/she made it here. Now I simply want to walk away from it.

Am I enamored with him? No. That doesn't stop that fact that I got to know him pretty well short of the lie. I honestly think it would be interesting to meet him when I eventually find the right one and go to visit.

$2000 is what my wife who is a nurse in Manila makes in a year
so yes a scammer will wait 8 months for a years pay (she just did)

My jaw is on the floor. But I credit Bill for coming clean about this because it may help someone else later. Not only that, it may help Bill later on because now he should know the flags he might have missed when he tries again.

And for what it's worth, Bill, you mentioned before about going there to "her" country first. I think you are lucky that this never came to pass in your case because of what could have happened had you gone and found this out. At least now, you know you are safe.

...  because if i just got taken in by a L.B. i dam sure wouldn't post it here. ...
You're killing me! We're all sitting around on the edge of our seats asking, begging, and demanding the truth to satisfy our curiosities and maybe help someone else and then have the audacity to say ... "damn, I wouldn't have posted that."  ???

ouch!!!!!!!!!!

Earlier in the week, I watched a youtube video someone sent me & at the end were links to other videos.  I watched one of them & said to myself "holy crap & poor guy" and now I am seeing something like this unfold.

Let me try to find the video.

Yes big credit to you Bill for telling us the story.

Where is Dave H?
He is an "expert" on that subject.
If we were all forced to wear a warning label, what would yours say?

Honestly Pig I feel better now that its all out in the open. I don't know that this is even the truth but its what he sent to me in an email. Now all I want is to be left alone about this so that I can go find a corner lick my wounds and heal up. I'll survive. I'll keep looking after some time, but for now, I'm taking a break and this time I'm truly done with this thread.
