Baby Beef in Colombia
« on: December 28, 2010, 05:24:19 PM »
Greetings everyone!

I ate Baby Beef in Colombia at a place called 'The Buffalo Grill' in Barranquilla.  I am trying to find 'baby beef' here in the states, but it must go by a different name.  Does anybody know what it is that I need to buy.
I don't expect the beef to taste AS good as what I had in Barranquilla but I would like to try something that is in the same ballpark.

Thanks,
Fathertime!

Hey KB!

I think you could be right.  When I go shopping next i'm going to ask around.  Today when I went to the supermarket the two people in the meat department had no clue what 'Baby Beef' was or what it could be.  I was surprised, they didn't know.

I do not think they feed them milk like we do here, thus not as pale looking of meet, but nice and tasty with a nice chimichurri and a chiante.

At Leños Y Carbon and other restaurants in Cali the baby beef (also called cuadril corazón in Spanish or miolo de alcatra in Portuguese) comes from the eye of rump.

"They" may not, but I bet you their mothers do.
