Good deal on acquiring 75,000 or more FF miles
« on: October 28, 2010, 07:30:08 PM »
I'm not a big proponent of credit card use, but this is a pretty good offer--just cancel the card before twelve months comes up and incur no annual fee. Cathay Pacific, which flies to the PI and is linked w/ Cebu Pacific, are FF afiliates w/ AA, among other airlines:

STILL ACTIVE To Oct 31-- 75,000-200,000 Mile Citibank Aadvantage Card Signup Bonus-No Fee
Now a Direct Working Link:

http://creditcards.citicards.com/...72FED4CDC2

Good idea to print out a copy for proof and to message Citi from "my cards" to confirm bonus terms.

There is a screenshot of the 100K offer attached which can be printed out for proof.

Recently the offer was sent out to a few select high flying American customers. As things developed it turns out that anyone who uses the link gets the 75,000 or 100,000 mile bonus. The offer links are not targeted. As soon as you fill out the online application, write down the application number you're given and phone the number also in the WiKi to get instant approval and confirmation of the 75,000 or 100,000 mile bonus.

CitiBank Visa personal and business and CitiBank AmEx personal card offers for 100,000 miles are: 1st year fee waived, 50K after spending $750 in the first four months, and another 50K after spending $10,000 in the first 12 months. Links in the WiKi.

The terms of the 75,000 mile Visa offer are that the first year's annual fee is waived and you must charge $1500 on the card within six months
Whether you think you can or think you can't--you're right!

That is a good promotion, I did sign up earlier in the year when they first run the promotion.

I am both a Citibank customer & one day Citi sent me an email about it. Since I was already an AA member - I signed up.

I got 75K miles after spending $1,500, there was also an other bonus miles but I forgot what it was. There was also double or triple point with certain purchases.

AA is part of the Oneworld Alliance ( AA, Cathay, British Airways, JAL, etc,) so my miles on AA is good to "travel" on the other alliance airlines.

I am also a member of Oneworld's CX Asia Miles, BA Executive Club & JAL Milage Bank as well as OnePASS, SkyMiles & KrisFlyer.

Just a fyi, for Latin America - Iberia, Mexicana & LAN are members of Oneworld. And for Asia - JAL & CX. So you can "book" on AA to travel on these airlines.

I don't think you have to be an AA frequent flyer member for this deal--that they sign you up when you get this card. You don't need any prior Citibank business either.

Back when the economy was roaring, Citibank, as an incentive to get me to sign up for one of their credit cards, loaned me $8000, interest free for a year. I just had to make a small monthly payment until the last month and then I paid them off.

If I had been late on a payment, I would've been hit with a hefty fee, so I arranged an auto draft from my bank. I imagine some people fell on hard luck, spend that money and then had a hefty interest rate after a year.

They have super accountants, called 'Actuaries" who figure out the odds on all this and they inevitably make money as a result.

After 12 months, I cancelled the card--too many credit cards, or several signed up for in a short time, hurts your credit rating and imagine this--acc. to the govt. and auto insurance companies--makes you more of a risk, so your car insurance rates can be raised also.

I put the 8 grand in a money market account and got some nice extra 'run around' money.

My how times have changed.....

Yep, you do not have to be an AA FF member for the deal.
Just stressing that you can use the AA miles you are "rewarded" with to travel on another Oneworld Alliance member if you do not want to travel on AA or AA do not fly to a city that you plan on traveling to.

Well Robert between the year 2000-2006 people were throwing around free money like the world was ending.   For a person who was looking for the cracks in the system and how to make money for nothing, it was easy pickins.  Like you said though, it is pretty hard to find those deals out there now.  Although citibank had a promo recently for 200 bucks for free for opening a NEW checking acct.  I opened one up for my wife and about 9 months later we closed it, with the 200 dollars free money.  I think they are still doing it this promotion but for only 100 dollars now.  Amazingly they told me I can sign the wife up again if her previous acct. has been closed for 90 days.  I just might take em up on the offer, if I'm in the bank again.

I remember when Sony had their $200 promotion for their card. At the same time there was another promotion going on for the PS3. I got the PS3 & the only thing I end up paying was tax.

I have a PS3, XBox 360 & a Wii at home (all are package bundles) and the total price for all 3 - I paid less than $100. I got them all thru some kind of promotion.

Yup, Citibank is running a free $100 promo now for people signing up. $200 was obviously sweeter, but if you, your spouse or GF sign up, it can add up...

I want one of those American Express 'Black cards" (The Centurion Card) I am waiting (hopelessy, I'm sure) for them to waive the initiation fee, which is $5000 and  also the annual fee, which is $2500. It comes with tons of incredible perks, but no credit card's worth paying that much to sign off on getting, I don't think. I don't need to impress anybody that much....
