Boost mobile...   $55 month on unlimited talk, web, long distance, text and international texting ,and unlimited 411,  no fees and no taxes. Which means, you can text, send and receive to  just about anybody in the world for free, which works great for me, since I send and receive about 20 text messages a day from Colombia, Mexico and few other countries. I used to have t-mobile and Verizon, which charge for sending text messages internationally, which put my bill usually over $ 100 a month.

they arent too bad on calling colombia either $ .15 a minute

I have had them for about 7 months now  and no problems with coverage or phone service.

Boost rocks. When I got off AT&T I tried verizon pay as you go and they dinged me with all sorts of hidden fees. Boost has b ene great and their coverage in my area isn't any worse than verizon or AT&T. I think the digital coverage is actually better. Out at a remote island on my boat with no bars I can still text and browse the web.

I don't know if it is available in your area but you can get unlimited talk text and web for $60 a month and only pay 10 cents a minute to Colombia.

i find that boost is still the better deal for me , due to a few reasons, i  never had a problem with their service or coverage and i can text to Colombia and Mexico for free  until my fingers fall off

I think virgin mobile is a better deal..saving 5 cents a minute really adds up.....I'd like to text more to Colombia but I don't really enjoy one sided conversations. I have sent quite a few texts to Colombia over the years and I think I can count the texts I received back on one hand. jajaja

Colombianas have just enough minutes to call you and hang up so you can call them back...I have no idea how many pesos it takes to make an international text from Colombia to the states but if you plan on actually texting until your fingers fall off you better plan on buying your colombiana a hell of a lot of minutes or get used to talking to yourself. jajaja

well, through Tigo, its like $.5 cents per text, dont know about movistar or comcell, which im pretty sure they are more.

best thing to do, is buy somebody  a Magic Jack, and they call you, which can be done from any computer with internet, even in a internet cafe.

I hate magic jack....terrible sound quality....I have www.ooma.com in my apartment in Cali...it is the best and cheapest VOIP on the market...better sound quality than vonage and much less expensive....also use www.didww.com that gives me a local land line number in Colombia and I can have it ring my skype phone and or my cell in the states. That way anybody any where in Cali can call me just like they are calling someone next door. You can get a local number for every city in Colombia if you want anyone in Colombia can call you without being charged long distance.

well, that can be a good thing and a bad thing, while dating a girl, had so many people calling  the apt phone that she got pissed, thought they were all girls, and i was dating every girl in colombia, finally had to cancel the house line just to kill the drama.
