Re:
>>I am starting to wonder why I buy anything new nowadays<<
Hear, hear! I bought the top of the line 2006 Lexus, one owner, driven by a little old lady ( I know the family) who paid, with tax, tag and title, just under seventy thousand dollars. The only option she didn't order were the power closing doors.
I figure if you can't open and close your own doors, you ought not be driving anyway....
I paid twenty eight grand for it, from the Lexus dealer, who certified it 'as new', after an exhaustive 161 point inspection, with a three year or to 100,000 mile guarantee then attached. They had the Lexus shop totally repaint the front and rear bumpers, which merely had superficial scratches
Because it was just over the 50,000 mile mark (just broken in, really) they totally replaced the brakes, the battery and put top of the line Michelin tires all the way around. When we go to dealer for anything--or even for nothing but window shopping--they do my wife's nails for free, give hand massages, feed us for free, have video games, a putting green if you want and any kind of non alcoholic beverages you can imagine.
I paid less than I would've for a new factory new Camry V6, the wealthy old lady took the $10,000 a year depreciation hit, and this purely Japanese, banzai built cruiser moves out from zero to 60 MPH in 5.4 seconds and above 80 MPH, lowers itself 1 & 1/2 inches for aerodynamics--faster than most 2 door sports coupes. Even my teenage sons think it's 'the bomb'.
Yea--like Fathertime says--never buy new (unless it's socks and under wear anyway)
