Return of Lower Asian Airfares

I have to go out of town to work for a couple weeks next month and my wife is thinking about making a trip back to China during that time so that she won't be stuck home by herself. I was pricing tickets this morning and found that fares are back down to their pre-summer prices which is great. I found a roundtrip from Atlanta to Hong Kong for $990 which is not bad at all - the same flight last month was running $1200-1300. I think that I am going to go ahead and snag it while I can.

I have checked myself using expedia.co.uk for next month's travel from Atlanta to Hong Kong, and it says £675 with Continental via Newark.  £675 is slightly over $1,000, so I am guessing he is going to fly with Continental

For me going directly to the airlines website will give me a better price that the search engines - I  use the search engines for price comparison.
Delta/continental came close to the price Cap quoted. Usually China Airlines have good prices for "after peak" period- but I am coming up blank on them.

I did a quick search for my route are getting the following:
August $1271
September $1083
October $1083
November $1067
December $1271
January $1067

That is for JFK to Manila round trip via Cathay/OneWorld Alliance.
It will be even cheaper when they offer deals of the month fares.

The fare was on Delta - I went ahead and booked it. Atlanta-Detroit-Hong Kong is the route - the plane for both legs is a new 777 which is good. I have flown the Continental ATL-Newark-Hong Kong route that Gato was referring to several times in the past and like it but Continental is no longer in the SkyTeam alliance so I don't fly them anymore. I am a Medallion SkyMiles member with Delta so I try to keep all my travel with an airline that is a SkyTeam member - 17,000 base frequent flyer miles per trip plus my medallion 150% bonus makes it out to be 25,500 miles per trip, so the ff miles add up really fast.  For my China trips I now fly either Delta or Korean Air out of Atlanta.

I try to do the same.

For me it is Oneworld Alliance.
There are 3 airlines that I fly - Cathay (Asia), American Airlines (Domestic) & British Airways (Europe). Japan Airlines is also a member but I haven't flown on them recently.
I also accumulate points/miles when I use my AA & Citi cards.

Right now, I am shooting for Oneworld Emerald status - even if it is will only be for a short time..
