Okay Ray, so we have different experiences.  But don't assume that everyone who isn't satisfied with modern mainstream culture is a Jonestown lunatic.  The examples I gave of religious communities that reject mainstream culture are perfectly valid alternatives.  If you had lived in Rome under Tiberius, you probably would have considered the Christians a lunatic group and felt perfectly content with Roman culture.  In fact Roman culture at that time was clearly decaying and suffered from feminism and immorality, just as our culture is now.

OK, you go start your cult and withdraw from society, but for everyone else out there, choose wisely and you won't have to feel paranoid thinking that your spouse will become corrupted by modern society...

Your ideas just sound so like a control freak mentality.

24 years here.

My wife watches American reality TV and laughs til she cries. Mostly she chooses to watch NHK and the Food channel.

So what are the choices for TeeVee (which I watch VERY little of).  If you're in the US, can you subscribe to Philippine / Japanese channels with Dish Network / Direct TV?

I haven't checked, but I wonder if the feeds might only be available via that damned Intarwebs...

Yes, TV japan is available 24/7 (for an extra charge) along with some broadcast international channels that have occasional Japanese language news and shows, here in Southern California. Around here there are dozens of Spanish language channels both for free and subscription, and I'm sure many other nation's TV on both cable and satellite.

I can't speak for other areas.

With DirecTV you can get TFC (The Filipino Channel) for around $25-35/mo depending on the package you order.

Dish Network has a wide variety of foreign programming to choose from. My wife and I subscribe to one of the Chinese packages available and we get 16 channels of programming - my wife really enjoys it.

My better half doesn't care much for TV, preferring to read or watch news from home on da internetz.  (I'm the telebiko in the family.)

But, FWIW, for those in the L.A. area, Channel 18 digital broadcast has multiple language-dedicated "dash" channels for those with digital antennas and receivers.  18-2 is the Japanese channel that has some Japanese historical dramas we watch together and some cooking competition shows I like.  They also have Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Armenian, etc.

Drinking too much didn't seem to be a problem. They kept wanting to give me beer with breakfast and I had to keep refusing...just didn't seem right.
Thinking back to my days in Korea, most of the guys I knew there didn't make it a daily habit to go out drinking, but they did like to cut loose now and then on the weekends. When they did, it was a good bet that they'd need a taxi to get home. Um... good call on the breakfast brew. *yuck!*

And to clarify, by gaming I meant video games. They're huge in China and other Asian countries. Go to an internet cafe, grab a couple bottles of tsingtao, and have at it with some friends. Just hard to breath because of all the cigarette smoke. None of that seems to deter the youngsters from wiling away their time at them though.
DOH!! Tsingtao... uh... hmm... the most polite thing I can say about that is "NO THANKS". In Japan, while I was visiting, pachinko parlors were still a huge addiction, especially in Okinawa. That was before the popularity of PCs and video games began, however. (mid-to-late 70's).

Hey pig,

I recommend kryptonite motorcycle cables...more humane.  If one is very trusting and secure, they have them in 30 foot lengths.  ;)

If she were an AW, the grade 35 should be plenty, but since she's a Filipina you'd better step up to a grade 70.

Here's some 2-1/4" Grade 80 I bought in Japan in the late 70s to be used in the Philippines. That ought to do the trick.

OMG, how stupid.  Don't you realize that with dragging that chain around, there's a good chance of her knocking over your TV?  Then where would you be?

Better to go with the wireless fence and shock collar combo with optional remote.

Ahh ok.

I know an American man who married an American woman. He is fully in favor of everything empowering women, except for when it comes to his wife.

He checks up on her every 30 mins or so with GPS tracking on her cellphone. She must be fully aware of this, since she works for a cellphone provider.

He reads her emails. etc etc. You can imagine.

But when I talk to him, I am the one called misogynist. I would never go so far.

Hey, if you catch her you catch her. Hopefully she can be trusted. If not, then there needs to be a change in personnel somewhere.

This is what we used in the navy for anchor chain.

It kept an aircraft carrier from drifting away, but it may or may not work for Mrs. Piglett (?)
