Even if you brought this woman/child to the USA, do you think her family's 'needs?' would lessen? Do you think she'd be able to find adequate work, given her education and English ability? Even when working, would it ever be enough for them?

These are typically issues that rear their ugly heads if not clearly addressed BEFORE marriage (and even then, sometimes) when you decide what will be acceptable. You're being milked before you're even engaged. If I recall correctly, your Mom was OK with all this before. Sounds like Momma knows best--and she's been involved a bit here, has your best interests in mind and not being emotionally in love, can be more objective.

My ex-girlfriend (the one whom I was engaged to) had a black eye in March 2009.  She told me she was robbed and 2 men punched her.  Her story did not make any sense but I chose to believe in her!

6 months later, a friend of her friend wrote to me in my Facebook, telling me about her.  When I asked her how did she get the black eye in that March.  She told me that her 'lover' punched her at the night club because he found out that she was seeing me!!! lol   Well, she deserved to get the black eye.

The point is that I knew something was not right ... but I chose to believe her.   I hope you do not fall the same way as I did even though you already knew...

Have you priced a ticket to thailand recently? I'm not sure you are at a point financially to take on this process.

If you're in DC it would probably be a lot cheaper to just book a flight to Costa Rica or something... there are some decent hostels with private rooms real cheap too.

been there done that too, but after i cooled down i took a 2nd look at everything & decided to head rite back in & give it another try.you know what they say about falling off a horse" you have to climb rite back on & ride again. so don't let one bad woman make you miss out on having a great lady to spend the rest of your life with.

those Thai chicks can be tough , ever think about a PI lady?

And as for the flight cost, bcc, honestly, it's not like it will kill me to fly to thailand.  $1600 USD, no biggie.  Honestly.  There's no holiday time to go BACK to anywhere though.  One week in a year.  So what, in another 365 days, I can go back for 3 days maybe to see someone again?  What's the feckin point?

Illegally sneak into the US across the southern and say "Me no peaky Ingles!" You can get a free college education and any job you want! If you don't want to go to school, just claim that you have a degree  from the Universidad de La Habana, like many Cubans (businessmen, doctors, assistant school superintendent, ex-mother-in-law and her siblings, etc.) that I know of.

 Hey Bob, she never did come up with the "photos of the injuries" she promised me a few days ago....  And she hasn't tried to contact me ONCE.. and in our last conversation there was a high pressure demand on me to send her money "for her phone" (to the tune of $80 I may add.)

I AM 99.9% sure she is a scammer now.  Since I declined to send money for her phone, I haven't heard from her in days...

So yeh mate.. I'd love to meet women from Asia who could get the visa to travel here.. Hell, I'd buy her plane ticket and set her up in a hotel, suits me just fine..
