Married and happy,... what next?
« on: May 23, 2006, 08:50:51 AM »
My fiancee from Vietnam and I were married here in Virginia on May 12th, and everything is going great. We just got our official marraige license in the mail, and now I"m not sure what to do next. Can anyone who has been through this give me some direction, and some help on what needs to be done (forms to file, ect) ? :D

Congratulations Noah! I wish both of you the best. I am now doing the waiting things as my wifes visa is processed. I had no clue about how the paperwork was to be processed, so I hired an attorney. Once again, best wishes to you both.

Thanks for the congrats. Everything is really going well, and now the next phase of paperwork begins. I honestly have no idea what I"m doing, so this is a bit stressful. Ray's posting was really helpful.
If anyone has any clear idea of what to file 1st, and any advice it would be appreciated.

I'll post a link to some wedding photos soon if anyone is interested. Thanks!

Noah,

You need to file for her Adjustment of Status (AOS). Did you read over the forms I listed for you?

You can find some detailed info on filing for AOS here:

Good luck...

Sure. Try this:

http://www.planet-love.com/forum/index.php?topic=312.0

The reason that the link didn't work is because the forum's domain name was changed from goodwife.com to planet-love.com.
