Ok I have heard this alot but is it true of colombian women

Ok one thing I have heard, seen, read, etc is this so please chime in if you have experience:

I have heard and from credible sources which matches whats in many profiles of girls but....

Generally colombian guys have their novias/wives and mistresses...girlfriends... and its super common not like here where its more for cheaters and players as we say.

This I heard is why colombian women are looking for gringos generally. In some profiles it says something to the effect: "I am tired of cheating colombian guys and want to meet a man outside that is honest and only with me"

I have seen that alot and heard it in the past when people were talking.

Is this pretty much a driving factor in why girls are so willing to find husbands/boyfriends from USA or whatever?

There are certain misconceptions which are prevalent among Colombian women. Such as gringos are cold, faithful, bad dancers, hard-working and treat women well. Then they get here and discover how many stories there are of guys beating their wives or guys making passes at them and they realize that things aren't all they're cracked up to be. The thing that is different is in Colombia women have many fewer options than men, both socially and economically. Consequently men have more freedom to play around with fewer repercussions because their wife or girlfriend is dependent on them. American women are not dependent on anyone, which has both good and bad side effects.

Another thing I'll mention is that for many Colombians, Colombian women over the age of 30 are considered to be old maids, and their prospects for marriage diminish.

Also, if they have children from another relationship, a Colombian man is MUCH less likely to be interested in her and being responsible for her children than a gringo.

One thing to remember, all these colombian guys are cheating with Colombian women!!!! So as much as the women complain about it, there are certainly enough of them enabling the men.

I'll leave the generalizing for everyone else. I'm white, mid 20s, over 6 ft, pretty decent shape, pretty decent looking.... In a bar in the midwest average looking women think they are doing me a favor if I buy them a drink, spend a lot of money on dinner, etc.. in Colombia (or Honduras, or Costa Rica, or Mexico) young attractive women pine for the opportunity to spend time with you.

That's really all that mattered to me.

Pretty much every woman I have dated or talked to from Colombia had been cheated on repetitively. And almost everyone told me the same stories of their fathers having multiple women, leaving the mother, many, many cases of abuse. Even more than a few stories of the fathers having one or two women on the side with which they have children, and help support financially. And the girls and the wives knew about the other women, but could not really do much about it because they had no real career to fall back on and/or were over 40 years old and did not have anyone else really interested in them.

I got the impression that the Colombianas pretty much expect to get cheated on. But are hoping that with a gringo they will at least be fiancially taken care of and will not be completely humiliated like what happens so many times with the Colombian guys.

The stories I have heard from young Colombianas were simply amazing. Like the sister, aunt, even the mom cheated with one of the boyfriend's of the girl. And most of the girls being cheated on were absolutely stunning. But the guys do not care. Because there are soooooooo many single girls out there who are willing to do whatever if you have a little cash to get a hotel room, or have your own apartment.


There seems to be absolutely no incentive at all for Colombian guys to ever get married. And to tell you the truth, I don't know if I ever talked to a guy younger than 35 who was married. Most of the guys that age still lived at home. And just work and party.

And I have talked to a lot of girls all over Colombia and the themes that I am describing seem to run throughout the entire country.

A couple other things I have learned is that this kind of behavior is not limited to the estrato 2-3 folks. Some of the worst cases of infidelity and abuse I have heard were from the so called "high class" men and women. You would not believe what some of these "respectable" attorneys, doctors, administrators, and business men do and say. I was on some of their email lists and some of the things that they circulated were absolutely shocking.

And yeah, the Colombianas are the ones that these guys are cheating with. It is almost like a challenge or something for these young, hot girls to steal an older guy from his wife for an affair. Or even steal him from her own friends or workmates. Like it is a competition or something.

But the young chicas many times do not seem genuinely interested in having the guy leave his wife to marry them or anything. They are satisfied with being the "other woman" and getting all the gifts, vacations, cash for school,  attention, and not have to do any of the dirty work such as taking care of the house, laundry, or raising children.

Yeah Henry, I have never heard of any guys living in Colombia crying that they are lonely or depressed.  That's for sure.

The women there are not exactly angels either, but the guys I have met there were operating on another level completely. If you talk to enough people over there, guys, girls, all socioeconomic strata, etc. and they tend to give you the same answers and information. And that information is the same as what you can plainly see with your own two eyes after making many trips to Colombia, then you will begin to see that most of they stereotypes you hear about are more fact than fiction.

I am not saying all the guys are dogs there, but the vast majority of them are. And once you get to know them and can speak Spanish well enough, they feel more comfortable telling you the real deal what is going on, and they explain the ways of the world there. The more you hang out with other Colombians the more they will reveal, especially if you do not act judgemental.

A good way for you to learn more about the culture there is to chat alot with different people on MSN, in Spanish. And not just with women you are hitting on, but try to make some guy friends, and some girl "friends" who will talk honestly about the life there. It will probably surprise you.


A Colombiana who has been cheated on will be broken hearted. For about one minute. And then will walk out the front door and have ten other guys who want to take her dancing or whatever. She will not be lonely for long as long as she is a hottie and relatively young. And even if they do not have a bunch of other guys dying to be with them right away, they will have a bunch of parties to go to and will go there with their girlrlfrinds and have a great time.

I've heard it helps to speak some Spanish, but having a Spanish-English dictionary and getting familiar with it before you land is always a good thing that would probably help you. Hard to say if it will 'work out' finding women, but there are a lot down there who are friendly and it only takes one!

Just be nice (and it sounds like you are) be careful, as you should always be when going to an unfamiliar area, and I'll bet you'll have a nice trip. Let us know when you get back how it went!

It depends on your plan. If your plan is to hang out on the street corner, grunt and point to your crotch when a good looking woman walks by, I'd say your chances of finding a wife aren't very good. If you have a plan to meet people who can help you out, introduce you to potential women in a non bar/ street corner setting, or have friends you intend to meet and help you organize your activities, translate and help you out, then I'd say your chances are better.

   Actually Robert that might work in Colombia.You have to take a different approach with Asian women though.I used to setup an abacus on the street and show off my awesome math skills to pick those women up.

My work involves working with blind and visually impaired individuals and some of them use the cramer abacus. I've seen some who can computate very abstract problems and calculations faster on that thing than most people can on any Texas Instruments calculator--absolutely amazing.

As for myself, once I get past ten digits, I have to take my shoes off.....

I think they still teach abacus in Asia. It was in common usage in Japan through the 1980s. Seemed weird seeing store clerks and waitresses add up bills on one to me. Of course I used a slide rule until the mid 70s, and could probably still achieve 3 place accuracy with one after a little practice. I was the only one in my statistics class with a slipstick.
