Well today I am bored
also JLO and I just celebrated our 5 year anniversary.

Some of you remember my story (most may not)

I decided to go this route after finding this very website and reading about South American women
many thanks to Pete E, Surfscum, Red Clay and all the old hard core vets

I decided against Colombia because I knew I was a sucker and could get played. I decided on Peru because I felt that the women might be more sincere (no agency tours, games etc)

Anyways - if there is anyone looking for some direction, I will try my best to help

I also volunteer Red Clay (this will be news to him also) for advice

Hi

Well its finally November and I am know only 25 days away from meeting face to face with mi bebe. I have never been to a latin country. I have been learning basic spanish and have a book. I have been fortunate because mi bebe speaks english.
I was only going for 6 days and I changed my trip now to 9-10 days. I am counting down the days!!!!!!!!!!

So far everthing has been going great. For those of you who dont know my story - I have been writing and calling one girl for about 8 weeks now. We spend hours on the phone. She gets a kick out of the fact that I call her while driving. I tried to explain that driving is more calm here and that I NEVER use my horn unless an emergency and she thought that was unusual too. I used matchingsys.com and spent only $25-$50. She comes from a great family and is super sweet!
I am glad I found nobelcom.com Helo Lima card because I can call the house for 10 hours for $20. I go through at least a card a week.

I am totally into this girl and the feelings are mutual. She has seen me tons of times on the web cam and I have seen her a lot. We talk about everything in e-mails and on the phone. Her whole family knows about me and I talk a little on the phone with them.

I want to thank the people on this board for inspiring me to look "international". Also thanks to Tommy for a lot of help and turning me onto Rosatel.com! I couldnt be happier right now with the way things are going.

Just for old times sake I visited my old haunt Yahoo personals. I had to laugh when I re visited what I had to deal with before. WHat a hoot. The lists of demands these women have are a mile long. That I dont miss!

Her cousin is marrying a gringo from Oregon and he is leaving Lima tonight. I am going to try to get him to post a trip report here when he gets home. He was there about a week.


I know this post is just rambling but hey this is what happens when a 36 year old chubby balding guy finds something this special.

Here's one for you or whomever: Don't you have a bank account here in the US that you fund to forward money to your family in Peru? I believe they have an ATM card for withdrawals, correct? Is your bank aware of that arrangement and did they accept the idea without any hassle?

So I'm curious about visiting some sites in Peru. Classic tourist stuff, Machu Pichu, Cuzco, & Titicaca, and I'm just wondering about altitude sickness. Have you visited the sites, and did the thin air get to you? Did you stay at a hotel that pumped in extra oxygen, and does such a thing actually exist? I didn't know whether to believe that on or not. I took a course in Meso-American anthropology at StL County community college, Forest Park, many years ago, and was thinking of it all out.

Also congrats on your site-vet status, or more importantly a successful relationship outcome.

We have been to Cusco and all that (not Puno though)

the altitude can get to you.

The best way is to go down from Cusco into the Sacred Valley and stay a couple days there. There is a lot to see in that area.  Its not worth losing sleep over anyway. just go
You might want to wait til it drys out a bit though - there are tons of people still stranded in Aguas Calientes

I had to run off and join the military to get my adulthood kickstarted. I saw a story about the landslides, but haven't been following the story closely, wonder how long it'll take to square it away. 2. From 0-100 what would you have rated your wife's English ability when she arrived to the States and what it is now?

3. Do you have any regrets at all? Anything you would have done differently?

4. Did you have any children from prior relationships? If so how was the interaction between the children and your wife?

I have received input about Peru.  It comes from different sources, and it almost always is contradictory.  Some people say there are attractive girls.  Some people say that the women, generally, are less attractive - but more sincere - than Colombianas.  Most people say the women are not so refined and educated. 

The only thing everyone seems to agree on is the weather in Lima is crap.

I would love to hear the real deal ...

Who are "most People?"  

On my first trip to Lima Peru six years ago, I had seven dates lined up before my plane even landed. Many of the women had a college education ( including my third date who became my wife) and only a few spoke basic English.

Many more women ( but not all) in my multiple trips to Cali sadly fit the description "not so refined and educated."

Lima Peru reminded of the women I dated in Bogota in terms of refinement and education.

In regards to your comment about the weather, after making at least ten two week trips there over six years, everyone is correct. It is crap!!!

Peru's racial structure can be classified as 45% Amerindian, 37% mestizo (mixed Amerindian and European), 15% White, and 3% African, Japanese, Chinese, and other.
In other words, you won't find many Shakira or the paisa types roaming around but there are some attractive women in Peru.

Never got into the Colombianas. When I dated them, I always got the feeling they were trying to put something over on me. But clearly there are some good ones out there as witness all the guys on this site with successful relationships with Colombianas but I found the Peruanas to be more down to earth, good hearted and sincere.
Glad I decided on Peru. More things to see and do there vs Colombia. The Peruvian food is great, quite possibly the best in the world.

Yeah, Lima has crappy weather. Humid in the summer and winter. I prefer the drier climate of Ica, in southern Peru.

JLO didnt have too many problems adjusting here. She misses her family. She always misses her family. She talks to her Mom and other family at least twice a day. She was 19 or 20 when she came to St Louis.

Her spoken English was pretty good when I met her. This helped us a lot and helped the relationship go smoother (before marriage) It also helped her adjust quicker. There are not a whole lot of spanish speakers in St Louis. She is not finishing up her class work at St Louis Community College and she will transfer to University of Mo.

No regrets. It would have been fun to go and "party" a bit in South America before I met her, but she wouldnt have liked that and would still hold it against me to this day.

No kids. If you have children I can tell you that you better look long and hard for the right women. Single Father No More seemed to find a true angel who is willing to work her A** off. Thats not easy.

My best advice is always to remember that there are two people in this relationship. If you think you hold all the cards because you are a gringo - remember that the balance of power will shift when she moves here and marries you.

Long term you are better of with a QUALITY PERSON with CORE VALUES (I leaned this in my first marriage)

I dont leave the house in the morning and wonder is she will be flirting with guys at school or "making friends" like that - I dont have to worry

And dont think you know everything - you will never 100 percent understand South American Latin culture.
You will never understand everything about women.

trying to just understand Latin culture can make your head explode.
