3 x 400 = 1200p /50 = 6$ /day or $180/month

It's no big deal, but you may want to check that math again Bear...  ;)

What is it with Asians and rice. The word for meal in Japanese is go-han. It's same as the word for rice. In Japan they revere their rice. In fact by old monetary standards, the US dollar was based on gold or silver, in Japan it was based on rice.

I had a good friend come from Japan to visit the US a number of years back and he was shocked that rice here was cheaper than dog food. A 25 lb sack of rice was on sale for $8 while Purina dog chow was $10. 10 kilos of rice in Japan was US $30 to $50 then.
I didn't eat a grain of rice the whole time I was in China and never saw anyone eating it. I guess they offered us rice at one small restaurant but we got "man'do" (a type of bread) instead.

Yes, in China, rice isn't very common except in the far south - Vietnam too. In Northern China, the noodles are the main starch. In Japan, though, rice is #1 with noodles a distant second. In fact, Japanese consider their famous noodle dish "ramen" to be Chinese food, though you'd have a very hard time finding anything resembling ramen in China. They do have noodle soups, but not like the Japanese versions.

The word for bread in Japan is "pan" from the Portuguese (same as in Spanish.) They'd never even seen bread before the Portuguese traders showed up. Now Japanese bakeries, though are excellent. In China though, especially in the north, the sesame bread and onion pies (kind of like a tortilla with onion pieces in the dough) are both popular and delicious.

Hey Heruamen,

I would probably plan on spending around $300 or so per month on food. More if you will be eating at restaurants a lot and entertaining people. If your fiancee likes to cook and eat a lot of rice, packaged noodles, and vegetables at home, it should be far less!

We spend around $20 per week for food. But I don't think that includes our Coke bill!  ;D

Yeah thanks for the number Dave that website was not helpful at all and when i called the store number it just kept saying the line was busy.  And also there were no prices on the pizza so i will try to call that 800 number you gave at least its free to call. And thanks for the $300 quote on the food.
