$50 charge for 2nd bag on International flights starting
« on: April 28, 2009, 02:44:45 PM »
Both Delta and Northwest will begin charging $50 for a second checked bag on International flights starting July 1. I am sure the other airlines will soon follow suit as they always do. I have wondered when they were going to start doing this and have been expecting it but it is still a bummer since I usually check 2 bags on my trips to China.

Lot of local airlines already started that here in Houston.  When I came home 8 years ago Honey asked me to bring her bag (thats what I get for marrying a 98# weakling).  They charge me over $200 (I think it was $265) because I already had 2 bags.  Wonder what the 3rd costs now?

I just flew AA (American Airlines) to LA. PAL (Philippine Airlines) to Manila. PAL from Manila to the province. 2 check-in bags...no additional charges. Although the weight per bag was dropped from 70 pounds to 50 pounds each. I also brought a heavy carry on bag, carry on medical equipment bag, and my wheelchair all without additional charges.
