Sad News in the Philipines

It's unfortunate this is everywhere.........

MANILA (Reuters) – A powerful blast ripped through a bus terminal in the southern Philippines Monday wounding four people, an army spokesman said, blaming the attack on a rogue faction of Muslim guerrillas.

The explosion, believed to have been caused by a crude bomb, also shattered glass panels of nearby commercial establishments in North Cotabato province, Major Randolph Cabangbang, an army spokesman, told reporters.

"Nobody specializes in such terrorist operations other than the lawless Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) group," Cabangbang said, adding it was the second bombing attack on Monday on the southern island of Mindanao.

Two crude bombs exploded at dawn near Iligan City, damaging a 100-meter (328-foot) bridge linking the Catholic-dominated urban center to Muslim towns on Lanao del Norte province.

Cabangbang said government engineers were still checking the structural damage to the bridge and re-routed traffic to avoid an accident.

Security forces have been battling three rogue MILF field commanders in the south since August 2008 after talks on carving out an ancestral homeland for Muslims in the south of the mainly Catholic state collapsed.

The conflict has killed 300 people since then and displaced tens of thousands from their homes and farms.

The funny thing, it is the "ancestral homeland" of many other groups which long predate the arrival of Islam to the shores of the Philippines and Mindanao...but they are peaceful people so they get overlooked. Perhaps the MILF and Abu Sayyaf Group should hop a few islands over to Indonesia where they can live happily ever after in peace...NOT! They are HELLBENT on taking over and destroying the Philippines! They are criminals who love causing trouble and even harming fellow Muslims. Overall, the Muslims where I live in Mindanao are nice people, who work hard, and want nothing to do with the terrorist groups causing all of the negative headlines!

The 'MILF' (Moro Islamic Liberation Front) were the original "MILF's." It was founded in 1981 when they broke away from the MNLF (Moro National Liberation Front) who became involed in peace talks with the Philippine government. The MILF continues to push terrorism (mostly against innocent civilians) and an armed insurgency against the government.

Thanks for setting me straight.  For some reason I was under the impression that Raquel Welch was the original MILF from 1 Million B.C in 1967...

Hey Swisskid,

You are correct, Raquel Welch was the first MILF (at least in my book)!  :o But that was before they were called "MILF's" and the more recent rage of "MILF" porno movies.

Not my time!!

I've even had a copy of Playboy with Marilyn Monroe in it.  I think I was 5 when I got it out of my parents room.

This thread has taken on a much better direction.  You guys have reminded me to focus on the more important things.  If this is the sort of catalyst I am, then I need to post more often!
