tourist visa/ american embassy, incredible!!
« on: April 03, 2009, 05:03:25 PM »
Just commenting on the system and how it seems to work, sort of.

Friend of mine, just went the American embassy in Bogotá for a tourist visa, but was rejected. Now before you say” duh, of course, they are difficult to get”   her whole family went  8 months ago, mother, father, little sister, aunts, uncles, cousins, all received a visa but not  her. The reason they wanted the visas, the whole family was planning on visiting Florida, Disneyland ect for 2 weeks, big family vacation. Now, this girl comes from a well off family in Rio Negro, her family has money and lots of property, but for whatever reason, which they really didn’t give a real answer, she was the only one who didn’t receive it. She has a degree in bus admin, speaks good English, has a good job, is not dishonest, and has no reason to stay in USA. has no criminal record ect. So it’s beyond me how her whole family got them, but she did not

Now, another girl I used to know, from average family, no real assets or property, spoke no English, both girls about the same age. I would guarantee that the 2nd girl,  that if she got a visa, she would never come back  because she had no job, didn’t finish her university and really not much of a future in Colombia, But guess what, she received a visa.  Incredible!!!!!!!!

I had been considering having an amiga try for a tourist visa but from the tales I've heard, the odds seem worse than a coin toss.  There's a non refundable $131 fee for the application.  I'm no gambler but I'd rather take $131 to a casino.

basically, they can deni for any reason that seems to fit them for that day. it seems also to depend on the person interviewing the prospective visa applicant, if they had a bad  night, or are having a bad day, forget it, your not getting a visa.

Is she single? Because they will deny a tourist visa if that was the case. Were there any other single people in her family ,over 18 that recieved one?

You are correct, it does depend on the person interviewing you and what kind of mood they are in that day. The thing is when AM's fiancees get denied the AM thinks they actually have rights!

You think that is incredible? Two cousins go to the embassy to get their tourist visa.
One of them is a spoil girl has it all, early 20s he parents are wealthy, has not finished her studies,2 years before her parents put a car and one of their apartments under her name  and money in the bank for her. She applies and gets her visa.
Second girl hard working girl late 20s, has worked for a government institution for almost 5 years, has her own apartment. Applies and gets her visa denied.
Two months later the first girl's mom applies, she shows bank accounts, has worked for a good compnay for 16 years, has a 14 year old kid . Applies and gets her visa dined. They even joked with her, they told her why don't you try travailing to Spain first?

I guess it is true what some people say down here, It is a lottery.

Hey mudd congratulations!!! I knowing you, I am sure you will do a pretty good job in Med

If a person doesn't know what he/she wants, he/she generally doesn't want what they got.

Sometimes we substitute the physical connection, or even the occasional emotional connection, for the real relationship we want to be in.
