Hello. If you have met a woman or women in Cartagena, like I have, I want to hear about your experience. I wish I had the guts to spread myself thinner (Baranquilla, Santa Marta, etc.) but I have too much time, friends and emotion invested in Cartagena. Let's talk!

I dated a girl from Cartagena and talked to a lot others. It seems like the situation with the girls there is a lot different than the average girls from Barranquilla or Cali. The girls I met were all working in hotels, restaurants, etc. in Cartagena itself. Almost all of those girls lived very far away from Cartagena because the rent and real estate prices are so high in Cartagena. So these girls take buses for 45-60 minutes one way, every day just to get to work.

Another thing is most of these girls are "hit on" daily by tourists. So they are a little jaded if you come up to them with some worn out lines. Although they seem to be very sweet once you get to know them. Two of the girls I talked to openly discussed previous "boyfriends" they had from Spain and Italy and how these guys got them apartments and boob jobs. These girls seemed truly hurt and disappointed that the guys ultimately dumped them after a few years of playing with them for a couple months here and there. But who knows? Maybe they just missed the cash and other "perks".

In general, I think the girls are very sweet and super sexy. And if you like morenas...you will feel like you are in heaven. There are some of the most exotic looking girls I ever met living  in Cartagena.

Like all women, they like to shop, go out to eat, and dance.

Most of them at least told me that they were looking for a nice guy to settle down with and they would treat the guy like a king, with cooking, taking care of the home, and spoiling him on a daily basis.

Just watch out for them though....if they work in anything that has to do with the tourism industry, which most of them do, and they are pretty....they have been hit on many, many, times before. And have a lot of "experience" with foreigners.

And they tell me that the guys from Italy, Spain, Germany make American men look like boyscouts when it comes to partying and kinky things.

Those are just things that I heard from talking to about 10 different chicas, and dating two in particular.

As far as the North-American men are concerned, the "gringos" (I'll tell you abaout the history later) from Spain, Italy and Germany may make me and others from the U.S. look like boyscouts (drinking & kinky), BUT from what I have been told, I have not yet been OUT-CLASSED. I am not there to have sex...which I can get anywhere. I bet none of the Spaniards, Germans or Italians are sponsoring a group of school children with the help of Macy's.

Yes. The real estate in Cartagena is surprisingly high but that is because the drug money purchased all of the prime real estate (on the coasts) in the 1980s. This is the same on the coast of Florida.

Some women may be into the attention & gifts but others are turned off by horny Eurotrash or norteamericanos for that matter.  One woman from Bogota told me about the German who came to see her and how upset she was that he groped her.

I had hoped to visit Cartagena because a low cost airline has service to that city from mine, but I haven't found a good source for meeting women.  A search on LAC yielded less than 200 hits and there seems to be few on Colombian Cupid.  Loveme.com (AFA) has a lot of profiles on their site but I don't know if they're up to date or if you can contact the ladies without using their tour package.

cartagena is a bit jaded. i agree.. most of the beautiful women there have had some experience with foreign men. this also applies to colombian men from elsewhere in the country... having a girlfriend in cartagena is a normal thing. the city is expensive due to the large number of tourists there and i found that the expectations of the women have adjusted accordingly.

meeting a "good girl" in bocagrande or laguito is a rare thing. you have a better chance in the barrios far away from the lights of the old city. or better yet.. in another city.

although they pretended to be interested in something serious on the internet... they turned out to be part-timers at best.

cartagena is a visual delight... an interesting place to go... fun everywhere... but ask yourself a question.. would you expect to find the love of your life in las vegas or miami beach?

Yeah, you are right. The Europeans appear to have less "class" than us. But they tend to blow lots more money there and be more "fun". I was talking to a lot of the guys working in the hotels I was staying at while there...I stayed at three different ones during my stay.....and they told me that pretty much the first thing the Italian guys do as soon as they set their luggage down is to ask where can they buy coke and find black hookers.

It seems like the Europeans are very into the cocaine scene, partying all night, dancing to electronica music, things like that. The guys from US are seen as more calm, serious, better husband material, at least when compared to the Europeans and Colombianos.

And whether you are looking for sex or not, the girls there assume you are. At least that is what they were telling me.

About the drug guys buying properties there??? I don't know about that. I was looking at real estate there and the real estate offices I went to were almost completely dealing with Europeans in the historic area. And in Bocagrande, Laguito, Castillo Grande....more Americans, but still lots of Europeans. They told me the Colombians usually get places in Santa Marta.

No I am not married to a Barranquillera. I was engaged to one, but cut things after about 16 months, before the visa was approved. I am still talking to her, but also a few other girls from Barranquilla and Cartagena who are good dandidates. And I talk to many other girls from the coast as "friends" just to see how they think and learn about their customs and cultural differences.

As some have been saying, Latin-Wife appears to be a good source to meet women. One problem: Most of the ladies are from BARRANQUILLA. If you wish to continue to travel to that city, fine. The woman there are pretty. In fact, I may meet two or three on my upcoming trip later this month.

AFA does not keep up-to-date pics and information on their ladies. The photo of my ex, which is at least 3 yrs old, is still posted on the AFA site.

The best way to meet ladies? Meet up with a local or a contact like me and JUST GO!!!!

My ex was not able to come through on many of her promises she made. She was not mature enough to manage a home.....a husband....and I have two children who are with me much of the time. She was good for the fun things. But when it came to the responsible things....she had a little bit of a hard time. So rather than take a risk, I cut things. Many of the "red flags" that Raycjs mentioned in one of the recent threads, I saw also. So I slammed on the brakes sooner rather than marry her and try to do it later.

There are too many women out there to "settle" for anything that does not feel right to you.

If you gut is telling you it is not good, then just move on to another girl. Especially if you have children. It would be pretty hard to explain why your new wife is leaving after 6 months of marriage. I think you should little to no doubts about anything if you are bringing a foreign wife into the scene. Especially if the children are young.

I met a nice girl (an accountant not a working girl) from Cartagena on line about 9 years ago. Unfortunately, the timing wasn't great for me to travel to meet her in person. I was pretty much broke from a divorce. We kept in contact now and then. But life kept getting in the way for me. Plus I wasn't really serious about her just friends.
She wound up moving to Bogota.
I still wave to her when I'm flying over to Peru.

I live in Florida and I have a girlfriend in Peru, KingDphax. At the end of the month, I am embarking on my 5th trip in 13 months.
There are some deals to be had with Spirit Air especially if you are in their $9 club. My last trip to Lima, I paid $238 round trip from Ft. Lauderdale.
If things don't work out for you in Colombia, you might want to give Peru a try. Some nice ladies down that way.

2nd, if I go to Peru, I may as well go to Brazil. But then again, Brazil is getting a reputation for prostitution. Although it is a necessary evil, I don't wish that cloud to hang over my head when I get off the plan.

This statement seems to show a certain lack of knowledge of the realities involved in the process. Also a definite lack of the finances involved in international travel and the rules of visa issuance.

The odds are that they arent coming to visit you in the US and probably wouldnt visit you in Cartagena either- for several reasons. We arent even addressing the question of why you would travel to Colombia where you say you have 2 or 3 prospects lined up and then suddenly suggest flying in imported talent.

I take it you have not had any real experience in the area.

Are you researching for a new book or what?

He can mean that those who agree on his invitation are the ones showing a red flag, or the ones that don't.
