Spirit Airlines
« on: February 08, 2009, 10:53:03 AM »
I was talking to my translator in Barranquilla the other day.  She told me that Spirit airlines either is or will be going to BAQ.  She also told me American Airlines has stopped service to BAQ.  IF Spirit Airlines starts service there that would be nice.  They are very cheap.  Anyone know about this, or can give more information?

Spirit Air is adding a route to Medellin  beginning March 1, not to Barranquilla as far as I know.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but the airport outside of Barranquilla is not an international airport, so a connecting flight has to be made from an airport receiving international arrivals.  Spirit currently flies to Cartagena & Bogota.

Barranquilla is an international airport with direct flights from Miami by Avianca. Spirit air does not fly there yet.

I did talk to one of the attendants at Fort Laud.-Hollywood Aprt about Spirit flying to BAQ and she mentions that flying to there is a strong possibility given that so few airlines from U.S.   that flies in and at the same time the fares are much more cheaper than Avianca and American.  I fly on Spirit on a regular basis to LGA and flying out of Myrtle Beach, SC to CTG or Bogota under $400 RT is a steal.  Especially if you catch their specials.

But I will give you a warning Spirit will nickle and dime you more than a overzealous police officer. LOL!!! I had to throw that in considering my last speeding ticket :'(

Spirit is taking the travel of Central and South America travel by the horns. :o
