You're never too old.....
« on: November 25, 2008, 09:40:44 PM »
My father, who is a WWII vet and just turned 82 found a new sweetie in Latin America and I'm as proud and happy as I can be for him.

My mother passed away in the 80s and he hooked up with a ball busting, liberal feminist with a mean streak of insanity in her family. They were together/apart/together/apart/fighting/enjoying/fighting/enjoying/love/hate/love/hate and on and on for 25 years.

Last year he said screw it - he couldn't take it any more, and just about this time of year, he packed everything he owned in a Suzuki SUV, and an 81 year old guy with nothing other than his social security headed SOB (South of the Border for those of you in Rio Linda.)

Here we are less than a year later, and he's found paradise. He has a home, a life, lots of (Spanish speaking) friends, and a dog named Tesoro, plus he's found a widowed sweetie who's educated, calm, friendly, respectful and adorable. She's also more than 20 years younger than he.

So here you go, Joe S. father of Jeff S. with his cutie Latina in Mexico. Not bad for a 60 year old abuelita, eh?

Good for pops.  I suppose with the half plus seven rule, he could have gone for a 48 year old.

Hey Bear,

That was almost me as well! My 25th wedding anniversary would have been this year. I got out at 12.5 years. I just got my annulment from the Catholic Church yesterday, so I am one HAPPY SOB!!! It's time for a big Philippines church wedding.  Time to start choosing god parents!!! ;D

Jeff S,

That is the first time that I heard of a gringo's father following the footsteps of his son in the foreign bride endeavor. That is awesome! Congrats to your father and his cute lady! I bet that he is now wondering why he put up with it for so long. I know the feeling, at least to some degree. And he is 82- wow, good for him. Like you said, you are never too old.

Great news and thanks for sharing!

Hope she doesn't convince the old man to replace you with her in his last will and testament.

Red flag.

Hey Mike:
Good to see you stopping by. His ex wife took him for anything of value, so whatever he has she's welcome to. He's already left anything I'd want with me before he took off.

Go Navy! I always tell the young pups that if they ever have the urge to join the armed forces, to choose the Navy. I had a bunch of uncles in WWII, two in the British Navy, one in the Canadian Navy and one in the US Navy - they all made it through in spite of seeing a lot of action in the Atlantic.

Congrats to your Dad Jeff!   Totally Cool, I wish my Father who is 80, would also see the light.  His wife is a demanding BBBBBBBBBBBBB, she has my Dad convinced that juliet is no good for me.  F in b!

I told him to do this 20 years ago. If I were him, I would have bailed out when I was 60 and he was putting up with the horse caca he had to. But then again, I've has an Asian sweetie taking care of me for 22 years so I'm well aware that there IS a better way, and it's right there, just waiting for you to make just a little effort.

Hey Fester,

Congratulations! I think we made Ray's Christmas a little brighter!  Too bad he doesn't get a recruitment bonus! ;D My son was going to join the Coast Guard, but Ray asked me if he could swim. I told my son that and the light bulb turned on.
