The only thing that he has done in recent memory that even kind of pissed me off was getting a little too chatty with women that I'm with....but I'm sure I've done some things he didn't like as well.

Just my perspective on the situation.

Well, not to mention that time in the Intercontinental when he made fun of you...busting your balls behind your back and painting you out to be a fool , all the while he was on your payroll (I related that story to you a few years back, remember?)...of course, I was taken aback since I had known you for years. And the list goes on...not a guy to trust in my book.  But hey, some guys need someone like JC while in Cali, so you have to take the good with the bad.

If you can show me a colombian that never talks [snip] or spread rumors.....well then I have some sea side property for sale that you might be interested in. Colombians have a tendancy to tell you what they think you want to hear.

Generally speaking I would agree with you Calipro except I have a good Colombian friend who has never talked about other gringos to me and has been completely honest and reliable in all of our interactions. Maybe I can arrange introductions next time I am in Cali.. ;)

I don't know of a single guy that has had more dealings with Juan Carlos than me and I can tell you he has never told me a lie, stole money or tried to trick me in anyway and has been invaluable getting all kinds of things done here in Cali.

You have been fortunate in that regard.

I'm very surprised by Calipro's comment also...I guess some need lame excuses as to the company they keep.  The funny thing is, CP and Zon Zon are aware of JC's behavior, but they keep going back for more. ::)

You guys sound like a bunch of teen age girls. So much, in fact, that I feel retarded continuing this post or signing on to the board again.  Life is lived in chapters and phases.

As a concluding thought for those who do not wear a skirt, and are sincere in their interest of Colombia and Colombian woman:  It is very similar to a business seminar.  The contents are true.  It is possible for anybody to do it.  But the truth is that very very very few actually succeed.

This should not be done in haste.  You should not be naive or dishonest with yourself.  And, if you fail to take full note of the cultural differences between Latin American and the USA, you are probably doomed.

(Please do me the honor of locking this thread, so as to avoid side tracks and useless ramblings)

I am going to miss Rivcardo's posts if he doesn't come back. They were really good and informative. I haven't been on this board for a while so forgive me for asking but is Rivcardo hispanic? I only ask because you/he seems to blend in pretty well in Cali from your posts for someone who is picking up spanish.

Sorry Rivcardo, but as I have stated on more than one occasion, I am here to separate the wheat from the chafe...If you feel comfortable using JC's services, go right ahead.  But I cannot with a clear conscience paint him out to be someone with character...will he cheat or rob you of money?? ...no...But, at the end of the day is he stabbing you in the back, painting you in a bad light with others, gossiping, turning women against you??  Well, in your case, time will tell...For me, I've seen it happen, up close and personal...luckily I've never paid a Colombian hustler a dime...and never will.

It's very ironic you compare your search to a business seminar...CHARACTER matters in business...It's very ironic that you also mention being naive and also the word "dishonest"...

I wish you good luck...be careful who you trust in Colombia...I will disregard the insults since I travel to Cali alot...I won't hold them against you. ;)

Thanks for the offer but I never have used Juan Carlos as a simple translator or even to introduce me to women although he has on occassion.

From a business stand point I seriously doubt if your translator friend can do what JC does.

Although If the guy has a lot of business conections and knows how to do business in Cali I would be happy to meet him.

I for one have never HAD to use someone like JC....I guess you could call that FRESH ;D

But remember, you have been warned... ;)

I think rivardco is using JC for what he is good at and unless you have already resolved your problems in Jamudi you might want to consider using JC's services.

JC helping me with my "problems" in Jamundi...what is he going to do??  Unless he can "gossip, lie, and rumor mongor" the left wing bandas into submission.  LOTFLMAO!!

I did hear he carried around what amounts to a squirt gun...maybe he can use that... ;D

Oh, and by the way...I no longer have problems in Jamundi, since I sold my property last month...without the help of a Colombian hustler. :D...but thanks for the recommendation.

I don't know the specifics of your situation but I can say with some cofidence that he wouldn't do anything personally.

sorry Dan, again you are wrong...everything I post here are FACTS...and facts that will hopefully save someone from wasting their money and time with what I consider a man with little character...from experience.  You MIGHT want to check your dictionary for the definitions of gossip, lies, and rumor mongering.

Hola DAN!

Nice to see you on this side.  I wish we could have the same quality give and take we have on this board as is the case on Russian Woman Discussion.  I speak very highly about your sites whenever I have the opportunity.  They have done much for me.

For what it is worth there is abundance in Colombia.  I am not sure why the traffic of AM men interested / coming down to Colombia (or other South American countries for that matter) is smaller and of a lesser quality than is the case with Eastern Europe / Russia.  But I am beginning to think this is indeed the case.

No insults intended to anyone in particular.  I have no ax to grind.  Just keeping it real.

ZonZon astute as always,  Because it cost big bucks to pursue the quest in Eastern Europe, also intelligent more cultured, educated women attract the same.

rivardco,

Hang in there. This site is well on its way to being the equal of RWD and it's already the foremost site of its sort on the net.

We'll get there.

Take care,

Hmmm... I was looking for those definitions, and stumbled onto this one:

Quote
In psychology, compensation is a strategy whereby one covers up, consciously or unconsciously, weaknesses, frustrations, desires, feelings of inadequacy or incompetence in one life area through the gratification or (drive towards) excellence in another area. Compensation can cover up either real or imagined deficiencies and personal or physical inferiority. The compensation strategy, however does not truly address the source of this inferiority.

Not every gringo in Colombia is interested in poor barrio girls with no education. My wife comes from a fairly well-to-do politically connected family where everyone has gone to college and is a a lawyer, engineer etc. You can go to Latin America for the same type of woman you would seek in Eastern Europe.

So tell me Dan, when you look in the mirror, you don't think YOU look good??  I'm sorry for that... Keep googling internet psycology sites...of course, plastic surgery sites could be a better option for you.

And as being the owner/adminstrator of this site, I'm very suprised you would lower yourself to using "insulting innuendo" in your post towards me...you might want to edit it, just to show you practice what you preach.

Believe me UC, if rivardco is running with this guy JC, barrio girls and maybe just a step higher is his only option.  Plus, his lack of FLUENT spanish speaking skills will doom him in the long run.

Is there anything less attractive than a MAN who thinks he is pretty?

Not to me, and not to quality women I have met and dated.

The truth is all a guy HAS to be is NOT UGLY - then almost any woman is open to him.  PROVIDING he has an attractive "inner world" - energy; optimism , industry, a happy and gentle manner top that list  But the list of character attributes is long.

And as for me, I let more woman pass by than I go for - by a mile.  I am patient and not in a position of need. Women, in the USA, in Colombia, anywhere,  have always generous to me.  And I am thankful.  I love women ... I respect them too.

I am not on a tour to get three dates a day.  I am not LOOKING for a beautiful poor girl (however, I have met some).  Similarly, I have met several privileged girls (who have reminded me of the Southern Belles of the South ... not for me, either).

I am not LOOKING for anything! I think that is the first mistake most men make.

Ok, so is that why you spent the first few weeks on this forum displaying different avatars with your picture, trying to prove that you look good and much younger than your age?  Didn't you make various posts bragging that all the girls say you look like you're 31 instead of 40 something??  Get real, your looks are just as important to you as they are to me...

And furthermore...all things being equal, inner beauty, personality, etc...women will go for the more attractive man EVERY time.
You being a businessman should know that studies have been done showing that more attractive people have an advantage over less attractive people in business.

It cracks me up how INSECURE you guys are regarding your looks and being proud of your looks, and yes, admitting that you are handsome and that it can used to your benefit in EVERY arena in life.

Let us, at least, try to be clear -

No, pal!  I did not come out and say I am a pretty boy!  That would make me a man that must squat when urinating - I am not.

I made the truthful statement that I appear younger than I am.  I did not make that statement to the board for self aggrandizement.  It is relevant as a bio of the traveler. Others, jumped on that characterization and started the teen age girl posts.  I responded by posting a string of recent photos of myself with celebrities and other beautiful woman to silence the static.  It worked.

"And furthermore...all things being equal, inner beauty, personality, etc...women will go for the more attractive man EVERY time"  Of course - if ONLY all things are equal.  THEY NEVER ARE.  So, if a woman lacks the perception to tell the difference of a pretty man who is a PIG; and a so - so looking guy who is a KNIGHT; it is her fault.

"You being a businessman should know that studies have been done showing that more attractive people have an advantage over less attractive people in business."  This is more true in government and corporate cultures than entrepreneurial cultures.  Last weekend, I hosted several guests in Costa Rica.  One guy makes 60K per week.  Another, just sold his company for 10s of millions of dollars.  Both are physically unremarkable - and they know it.  but they have a personality, and a self awareness that many women find truthfully attractive.  We all have to deal with the card God deals us.  And we also must not be negatively affected by such gifts ... the knife can cut both ways.

And, of course nothing is wrong with being handsome. It is matter of how you wear it.  It is just like being intelligent.  The truth is I am smarter than most people I meet.  If I were to behave in such a way to telegraph this in every conversation ... that would make me a horse's arse. Rather, the challenge of being intelligent is to communicate with everyone effectively.

Es verdad.

I did not jump to Juan Carlos' defense with great force to demonstrate all the reasons why I consider him to be excellent.  That would strain credulity. I think it is best to give a clear opinion, as others must do, and let people find out for themselves.

But, these forums have taught me to be direct and not withdrawn in my advise giving. There is a temptation to go to far ... but we must not.

I am sure Rivardco will un-cover new ground.   I recall there is a December event this time of year in Cali called "Toscas"??   a makeshift party area of tents / bars/ restarants / filled with events, etc...

I went one year and it was great in front of Chipe Chape, last time I went they moved it, it was dead.
