Chris

Welcome aboard! If you have the dream and the will, you can make it happen!  I turned myself into an ex pat, and there are a few of us on this board.

Keep researching and asking questions.  Guys will help you!

welcome to the forum

Having traveled around Colombia, I would suggest that you consider other cities/ areas to live as an expat.  The coast is VERY HOT & HUMID, a lot worse than in FL.  It is also a lot more visibly poor than at least Bogota and Medellin, including infrastructure and general feel of the place.  And you will be accosted on a regular basis by extremely annoying people selling trinkets.  Also costs for higher end condos there might be higher than in most other areas.

I am not sure what reasons you have to pick specifically the coast, and they might be valid.  But unless you have anything very compelling to stay there, consider Medellin, Cali or Bogota instead.  I very much enjoyed visiting Cartagena - it is a beautiful historic city, but would never want to live there.

Good luck!
