Citibank is quietly providing home loans to illegal aliens at better rates than they offer to citizens.
A major U.S. bank has funded its first home loans to undocumented Mexican immigrants in San Diego County in a move that targets a lucrative, wide-open market while providing new grist for the debate over illegal immigration. The local program, which uses tax identification numbers instead of Social Security numbers, is similar to programs run by small lenders — and two state agencies — around the country that have distributed millions of dollars to undocumented immigrants over the past few years.

Banks Find Mortgage Clientele in Undocumented Immigrants
Dalila and William Timal look like any other couple signing a home mortgage. They've picked out paint colors for their new four-bedroom house in Indianapolis and can't wait for their 18-month-old son to play in the yard.

But they differ in one way from many others you'd see at a loan officer's desk: Neither is a U.S. citizen or legal resident. The Timals came to this country from Guatemala in the late '90s and illegally overstayed their visas.

They're the beneficiaries of a new program by Cincinnati-based Fifth Third Bank, basing mortgages on an individual taxpayer identification number, or ITIN.

Protesters at Hammond bank: No loans for illegal immigrants
On Aug. 16, Bank Calumet announced a Hispanic initiative more ambitious than any in the area. That included the launch of a Web site in Spanish and low-cost ways to transfer money to relatives or friends in other countries.

Also at the event, a Hammond couple were introduced as the first to secure a mortgage through Bank Calumet's pilot program by using an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number.

Fifth Third Bank and Harris Bank also have done Individual Taxpayer Identification Number loans, but not in Northwest Indiana.

Virtually all local banks now accept the Individual Taxpayer Identification Number and a Mexican-government issued identification card called the matricula consular to open savings and checking accounts.

Illegal immigrants are issued Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers by the IRS so they can pay taxes and file tax returns. Only legal immigrants and U.S. citizens can get Social Security numbers.

Embracing aliens: Wells Fargo offering home loans to illegals
Well Fargo & Co. has become the first major California real estate lender to directly offer home loans to illegal immigrants and foreign nationals as a result of its new pilot program in Los Angeles and Orange counties.

The concept is gaining traction nationally, with a handful of U.S. banks eagerly selling the American dream of home ownership to an untapped market of between 10 million to 12 million undocumented workers.

Some undocumented workers and foreign nationals pay taxes in the United States but are not eligible, because of their legal status, to receive Social Security numbers, which are required for home loan applications. But Wells Fargo will begin accepting a different form of identification--a nine-digit Income Tax Identification Number, known as an ITIN--to allow these potential homebuyers to obtain home loans. The Internal Revenue Service issues ITINs to individuals who do not have a Social Security card, including illegal immigrants, for tax-paying purposes.

To qualify for Wells Fargo's Celebrate HomeSM program, a borrower must have paid their taxes for at least two years using an ITIN number, provide proof of residency for two years, and have had a bank account for at least six months. The program offers 90 percent financing on fixed and adjustable-rate mortgages for up to $600,000.

Home Loans for Illegal Aliens?!
The American dream of home ownership, complete with the white picket fence, is alive and well for those who break our laws and break down our fences to get in.

Last week, The Washington Post published a rosy front-page tale headlined, "Illegal Immigrants Buy Into Homeowning Dream." The article detailed how illegal aliens in the Washington, D.C., area are successfully hooking up with cunning mortgage brokers and complicit lenders to secure home loans. Despite federal laws making it illegal to violate the borders, overstay visas, and recruit, harbor and encourage illegal aliens, the Post notes that the illegal alien home loan schemes are "legal."

A 25-year veteran of the mortgage industry in California confided to me recently: "It boggles the mind to think how many illegal aliens are homeowners in this country thanks to these programs, all fully insured by our government. Because of fear of lawsuits for discrimination I can also tell you that a lender may have a borrower who speaks little or no English who claims to be either a citizen or resident alien and it will not be questioned nor any proof required. Since FHA does not require any such documentation, a lender cannot cite their regulations as a basis for the request as they can on conventional loans."

Think about it:  A U.S. war veteran would have to have his credit pulled to pre-qualify, but the illegal alien has it even easier because no credit history is required.  He can qualify for a FHA-backed loan which has terms nearly as generous as those offered to veterans.

Yet, his only war wounds came from belly crawling under a fence to reach the U.S.

I absolutely love that picture, by the way.  It needs to be blown up and hung from the rafters during the Senate debate.

But what happens when an American citizen attempts to exercise HIS freedom of speech by protesting the home loans to illegals? Susana Findley, a Gary native whose parents were born in Mexico, said illegal immigrant workers arrived here for the same reason federation members' ancestors arrived: To find work and a better life.

"But those racist immigrants forget about that," said Findley, nodding toward the federation's camp.

Several counterprotesters arrived earlier than the scheduled 10 a.m. federation protest, setting up shop at the corner of Calumet Avenue and Ridge Road.

When 63-year-old Chicago Minuteman member Rick Biesada arrived and pulled out his protest sign, he claimed that two counterprotesters yanked it from him. When he yanked it back, the men assaulted him, knocking him to the ground, he said.

The Lindenhurst, Ill., resident was treated by paramedics at the scene for a gash over his eye and dizziness, spending a few minutes inside an ambulance before returning to the protest.

"I wished he fell to the ground harder," Findley said.

Will President Bush call these unhinged attackers "vigilantes"?

Yes, those are students raising the flags as such on the grounds of their own high school.  Congratulations goes out to the school "authorities" for allowing them to do so.  I think the term for what afflicts them is "appeasement."

Bank of America is now giving credit cards to illegal aliens. When i heard this myself and my cousin went immediately to our BOA and closed our accounts. We also heard about Wells fargo catering to the illegals so we now have our accounts at Chase bank.
