New Member Seeking Advice On Costa Rica Trips
« on: July 12, 2008, 08:28:58 PM »
I plan to make Costa Rica my first trip in seek of a wife. I will spend 1 week with an agency and 1 week doing adventure travel type activities. Please let me know if you have any experience with the agencies operating down there or from America.

Thanks,

Hi drell283,

Welcome to P-L! I don't know anything about the agencies in CR. I spent my time seeking the best guaro de contrabando with my ex-pat buddy Javier (RIP), AKA "The Crazy Cuban."  ;D I'm sure you will have a Great Time!

Watch your belongings at all times. Petty theft is a plague in Costa Rica and they'll steal anything and everything if you turn your back on it for a moment.

I will be in costa rica in october. What agency are you using? The only agency I found was spanish eyes but they only have 4 profiles in my age range that I am interested in. AFA is starting to have a presence there, too, but I am not interested in socials. mike

civi1968,

I'm thinking AFA, but I'm still considering Spanish Eyes. I don't think there is much else out there. I may just use the AFA introduction service. I can pay for my hotel and plane tickets with frequent flier miles and such. I could save a lot of money by paying for the hotel myself and skipping the socials.

beware, beware, of a foreign affair. Their CR socials got pretty poor reviews here in the last year or so.

Their porno division K4I (KISS 4 IMPACT) advertised having a complete porno film studio in Costa rica up until last year when the link between the two became known. THey seem to be trying to bury their past now.

one big problem with AFA is that you really have no idea what you are getting-such as the REAL occupation of their members, etc.

Same owners of both companies from 1995 until at least 2007. They managed to stink up Europe pretty good. THeir high priced executive search is a crock as well per one of their Ukraine office managers that is living here now. Married- but no thanks to AFA. Is their success rate above 10%? Doubt it. . . .

FOREIGN AFFAIR IS FAKE!!!

I placed advertised there about 2 months ago, and still have 836 mails still unopened.  Many of them have repeated writing to me - exactly the same headline titles.   I recognised about 5 girls who already know me, but still wrote to me there!!!

I heard a lot of bad things about AFA and the seedy side of their business from a friend who knows a former employee. In any case, most of their latin profiles of women 30+ (I am 40) are either not attractive or have 2 kids. 1 kid is ok but 2 is a bit much.

Does anyone have any experience with Spanish Eyes in Costa Rica? I'm pretty much set with Costa Rica as I already have a plane ticket.

I looked at costaricanbrides.com. Now that place looks shady. Advertises free pass that takes you to a pay site. The multiple misspellings on the website and will not list their prices unless you join. I am looking in to Spanish Eyes. Please let me know if you have anything else to add.

Thanks,

Well, I've been to Costa Rica twice.  Both times with AFA.  My experience with them was OK.  No problems or false promises.  The first time I met a very attractive TICA who was 50 yrs old.  And she was real high class.  And very genuine.  The only reason I broke it off with her is that she actually had a far better life there in Costa Rica than I could ever offer her here.  The second trip was a little different.  Once again the TICA I ended up with was outstandingly beautiful.  The best description I could give of her is that she looked like a Latin Sophia Loren.  The main problem for me was the age difference (I was 60 and she was 33) and she had 3 young kids.  But would I use AFA again is the question.  The answer is .... maybe.  I have found a web site that looks interesting, but you have to pay $50 to join.  It is called My TICA, or www.mytica.com.  Try checking it out and see what you think.

AFA had their porn studio down there operated by their wholly owned affiliate K4I. Does that mean you get to meet their actresses? Probably. AFA likes to run dual purpose marriage and sex tours- which girls will you be seeing? Will you know the difference? Can you tell them apart-or do you trust the agency. . . . ::)

... no, I am not promoting any site.  I haven't paid the $50, and I won't pay the $50 just to get access to view the profiles.  The site looked genuine, but I believe that if they really have something to offer, they should at the very least let you see who is there.  They may offer a "preview" of who is there, but I firmly believe that they, or any site, should allow free viewing of who they have on their site.  They may seem genuine, but $50 just to view - no thank you.  It would be interesting to hear if there is anyone out there who has had any experience with them.  And as for myself, I have been to Costa Rica twice and I believe that it is one of the great secrets of where to find a good woman and future wife.  I know enough people down there now that I would not have to use any agency to meet some nice ladies.  And another little thing about AFA.  Yes, my experience with them was actually good.  But consider this little fact.  We have all heard about their association with the porn industry.  Well, the hotel that AFA uses, The Sleep Inn is actually a very nice modern hotel.  But it is also located right next door to the Hotel Del Rey, which just happens to be the biggest prostitute hangout in all of Costa Rica.  It has been referred to as an adult Disneyland.  The stories I could tell you of what I saw there .... But given the apparent history of AFA, it is not that big of a surprise that this hotel (Sleep Inn) and its location were selected.  But again, given all I know about this, would I use AFA again - just maybe .... most probably not, at least not for their tour.

I take it from this statement that Costa Rica is as far south as you have been thus far?

... yes, Costa Rica has been as far south as I have gone.  I have one friend who went to Colombia and found his wife there.  She was beautiful, nice, friendly, intelligent .... everything that you could ask for.  Unfortunately for my friend, shortly after bringing her up here she was diagnosed with cancer.  She ended up dying after several months.  But at least they had about two years of happiness together.  I believe that my friend fully intends to go back to Colombia to find another wife.  My only problem is the financial part.  Right now I am in such a financial state that I pretty much cannot travel anywhere.  I have already resigned myself to the fact that I will have to spend the rest of my life single.  But I would strongly encourage anyone who is looking for a wife to look to the south.  In my opinion, the Latin women make far better wives that the FSU women.  Especially if you want a real family atmosphere.  The Latina would be my first choice.  And from everyone that I have talked to that has been to Colombia, it really is a lot safer than most people think.

well sorry for hammering you but your first post kinda read like a soft plug for mytica. I don't know anything about you so I can't really comment on your situation. Maybe posting an intro of yourself in the introduction forum might help with that.

Other than that the economy will hopefully eventually turn itself around and maybe you'll get your shot to travel down south again. If you have a job and your ducks in a row (which can be a challenge right now)... travel is pretty cheap.

... that's Ok ... after re-reading my original post, it did kind of come off like I was giving a soft plug the that site.  I will be a lot more careful how I write things from now on.  Just so you all will know where I am coming from, I will take your advice and post an introduction.

I'll let everyone know that I vacationed in CR. I did not use an agency or do a wife search while there. I also went to Bogota, Colombia and used Latin American Introductions. I think that the women of CR can be cute, but do not compare to the Colombianas. I did not get to know any Ticas personally so I can't really tell you much about them. I don't think that they posess the education or job skills that the women of Colombia do. I will be returning to Colombia in February.

A wise man told me, don't wait  too long between visits or the girls will lose interest and move on. that was my mistake. I waited 2 months to go back.
