If I'm on the payroll, then where's my f'n check.  LOL

Just six minutes after my post, you rush to Jamie's aid again.  Just six minutes.  You certainly seem very focused on this topic.  Your sales pitch could use some subtlety.

BB12 - You mention "we" in your posts.  Are you talking about "we" on the forum, or are you representing a group?

Also, I'm assuming that you are an American woman, what is your take on this way of finding a mate, given what you know?

Just curious.

You are not curious.  That's not your motivation.  Your posts are paid advertisements for Jamie's agency - that's your motivation.

yes im a female, and of course read articles like that one. it is scary to meet someone and all of the sudden he is looking for a wife overseas. i am sure half of the article was made to cause a stir, speacially between women. Mr. Baillie wanted to feel entitled. what is that? he wanted to have someone take care of the house. hire help? i'm not a feminist very far from it. we are very interested in her part of the story. trully interested in how a young girl pretty and hardworking goes into this agencies. to find love?

I would be scared too since you could very well end up on the dust heap why? I went out with a American woman for 5 years, I did everything for her. What did I get in return?
1 I got a headache... 29 days a month
2 No I do not want to get married.
3 No you cannot move in with me, I promised myself I would never let a boyfriend move in with me again
4 Buy a great big house and I will move in with you, bringing my huge dog my 3 cats my hamster my ect ect
5 do you wish do buy us supper tonight I am tired and don't want to cook. 30 days a month
6 Hey hony can you make my car payment this month?
7 Waaaaa I am sooooo depressed!!!

Do you get the point I did and it only took 5 years..... to top off the whole sorry affair within 1 month she had another guy move in with her.

My wife comes from Colombia yes we have fights but I would do anything for her, she is very smart and she is a very good cook!!!

We're not all after the same women.  We are all after a simular ideology of women though.  Someone who will nurture us and allow us to nurture them.  Someone that will respect us and we will respect them.  Etc, etc.

Most North American women cuase too many headaches, and can be classified as "convenient feminists".  They want to do everything that benefits them, and they want us to do everything to benefit them.

In other countries, it is easier to obtain these qualities in women than here in North America.

Hand over nearly $1400.00 to this guy and you get three days lodging and the chance to sit down at Chinese restaurant with groups of ten woman up to a total of fourty. What do you think the profit margin is here? My point from thr beginning is that this guy has enormous motivation to troll this board for customers (or suckers, you pick) willing to hand him that kind of money and anyone who thinks he's just a nice guy here who just wants to give out helpfull advice is a fool.

Fuzzyone,

#1 If I posted everything that I've done or know about Colombia my posts would monopolize this whole site and soon you'd become bored with me.

#2  ANY gringo who trusts his Colombian girlfriend to work in an agency is a COMPLETE fool.  EVERY young Colombian woman that I have known to work in an agency has NEVER been true to her boyfriend, whether he be Colombian or gringo.  I'm sure if Jhorrny's gringo boyfriend ever gained access to her e-mail account he would find out that she is corresponding with many gringos.

#3  Any colombiana who accompanies a gringo to his room for a "photo shoot" shouldn't say she is in a "serious" relationship.

#4  If I owned an agency, i wouldn't hire young beautiful women to work for me, especially those who are in serious relationships or are married.  It only complicates things as demonstrated by Steve's behavior in the article.  With Colombia's high unemployment rate there are MANY more options.

sorry Fuzzyone, but like always the truth hurts...it's funny how insecure guys like you always bring up the word "troll"...get a life!!!  Also tell me one thing I've ever posted that is not true or wasn't my sincere opinion...I'm sure you have plenty of time to search the archives of my 20 or so posts.

You say I post crap...well wasn't I the one who advised Pete NOT to have his girlfriend mention him in her visa petition, and that she would be denied??  what was the outcome??, and YES her mentioning him killed any chance she had at the visa, whether Pete admits it or not.

Finally! I have been waiting for an opportunity to speak on these forums hopefully logically, with a woman about the perceptions of this quest before the hard core AW haters ran her off. For some reason, some guys get defensive and start attacking whenever a woman comes to the board with a differing opinion.

I have a question for you. Why does it seem to be the obvious conclusion that men who seek foreign brides are looking for someone submissive and a servant? That seems to be the general opinion being spouted from those on the outside looking in.

Also. what is inherently wrong with a woman supporting her husband? Especially if he supports her as well? Why is it considered demeaning to be a functioning member of a family unit in this day and age by American women?

Ray, I would like the opportunity once and for all to have a serious discussion with an open minded woman as to why some men may seek foreign wives. Not everyone has the lowly opinion that foreign women are somehow less than their American counterparts.

Not everyone is in this because they believe that they can somehow control foreign women. Some of us want true partners which many Americans have forgotten how to be.

solely brought in this topic because I read that particular article. i so think it is a FANTASY of the latino woman, it is very funny and that's is probably lots of this relationships go wrong. I ma a latino woman. i know how exactly how we are brought up. why Colombia in most cases? do you think if you meet a latino woman raised in California or elsewhere in the united States or Europe she is not going to bring the values she learned at home with her. I don't think is about going to a country and sitting down with a table full of girls that you'll find it. i t sounds to me unfortunately that yes it is sexist to pay and get a girl that you know (well, that you think) will be a good wife.  In Mr. Baillie's case (that being my reference) his instincts were pretty bad i don't think he is a bad guy i think he does have very low self esteem. "For a young muscualr, syccessful, good looking ney loft livinbg photographer in NYC"  he went and picked up a cooking cleaning sex machine and brought her to ny to feel empowered.  as a woman Im appalled.  Im sure also the article exaggerated on his words, since we mave to make it more exciting. but it is pretty bad. im sure he has many suitors. i actually know that. this services promote girls in need. i still find funny that all happens in Colombia what's up with venezuela?

The guy in the article may be indicative of individuals who truly don't understand or respect the depth of this process., but not of those who weather the lessons and continue to search. I actually got into this because of my relationships with Latin women here in the states. To make a long story short, when I felt that I was ready to be a husband, and began to look for my future wife, I considered the women I had known prior to that decision and the Latinas stood out above all others as the type of women that I felt would best fit within the type of family that I wanted to share.

I figured that if these women were so exceptional even with the chaotic influence of what passes for dating in America, then I could possibly do even better by going to the source.

As far as agencies, and group dates, that may work for some or many, I can't speak for others. I prefer one on one meetings, and having discussions with one person at a time. All agencies don't operate the same way, and not all clients need the same level of hand holding if at all.

As far as why Colombia, the easiest answer is opportunity. There are probably more agencies in Colombia than anywhere else in this hemisphere. Do you know of any agencies in Venezuela that you might be able to suggest here?

I would also like to say something about your comment about it being sexist to pay to find a wife. I don't understand. In a society where you spend more time working than anything else, unless you choose to date your co-workers, it isn't that easy to find quality partners. The days of introductions by family and friends are almost long gone as many don't live near family as they used to and friends aren't as extensive as they used to be. Today, many friends are in the same situations and the married ones usually move on. Why wouldn't a person, male or female use what ever means are at their disposal to find a potential partner?

You are only paying a middle man for the opportunity to meet a given woman, not for the woman herself. The same rules of engagement apply this way that apply if you happened to meet her on the street or wherever. The only difference is that supposedly you are both looking for something specific and are unattached. You still have to go through the same requirements to get to know her and allow her to get to know you as in any other situation. I believe that ignoring that fact is where people like the guy in the article fall short and fail.

The above statement is one of the things that I have come to recognize through my experiences and I completely agree. I am not trying to put Latinas on any universal pedestal. For me, personally, all of the things that I would want in a wife, I have found more of in Latinas than any other type of woman I have met.

I can only speak for myself, and having dated women from different nationalities, economic backgrounds, and professions, the underlying factors such as dedication to family, mutual respect, and working together have been more profound in the Latinas I have known.

Yes, women are women, just as men are men, but for whatever reason i.e. culture, family environment or values, tradition, I prefer Latin women.

That doesn't mean that I am closed off to anyone else if they have the qualities I desire in a wife.

Fuzzyone,

"rookie"??  "know your role troll"?? LMFAO...

get a life 'ole Fuzzyone...

So what you're telling me is:  You think this Steve guy is a great guy (as Jamie thinks), he is only half responsible for what he did to Roxi,  he made the "typical" mistakes most guys make when choosing a Colombian bride, that YOU  would accept your girlfriend or fiance working in a marriage agency...Ok, you're right, I'm full of crap.  What have YOU posted about Colombia lately?? (sorry I don't have the time to check the archives)

I look forward to it also. But Soltero you and others have placed your cards on the table. She has not in fact we would not even have known she was a woman if she had not slipped up and stated "we woman want to know". I would love to know who we woman are? Comments like we are all visiting the same woman in Colombia? If you call that rational discussion then some A.W. must have nailed you with a 2x4 when you where not looking.  I have nothing to hide read my old post, but in same respect if she wants to learn then lets hear about her, whats her story I am all ears or should I say all eyes because I saw the claim she was not a A.W. then where is she from?

Who is she? What is this research she is doing? If she wants to become a member here more power.

Aw come on Fuzzy, what's the big deal? I didn't know there was a rule that says you have to admit you are a woman on your first post. And why do you think she "slipped up"?

This has never been an exclusive men’s forum and not ALL women are here to write papers. Why not give her a chance before jumping to conclusions. Maybe if you try to engage her in a meaningful discussion, you will find out soon enough what her real motives are. It should take long.
