Ken, I don't know you at all, and don't take this personally, but who are you really trying to convince about Jamie? He has been posting on this board for years, and there are more than a few here that have used his services and usually have nothing but good things to say. Those that don't usually rag on about "what ifs" and never say anything specific. What's it take to narrow down the constant flow of bitching with some facts? I have never availed myself of Jamies agency, but I would have to hear some real reasons why not to be convinced not to. What have you got?

Keep that in mind while you continue to try to prove your point. Not everyone here is new.

There was a young lady who used to post here every now and then that worked for an agency before the site changed to the new format.

Actually Ken I got a kick out of the Mosquito story only because those little B#stards get you and you never know it before it is too late. I have enough experience I really did not have to have someone hold my hand. I was one of those kids in school the teaher hated ( We don't need sticken spelling right?)

I have never heard of any of Jamie's clients being robbed in Barranquilla. Believe me when I say walking around the town by your self is a open invite to losing your wallet fast.

Tell me what Zapata has posted that really has helped anyone here? You posted more over on PBH trying to rent out apartments then he has posted here.

I am a bad speller believe me but it is not hard to make fun of myself. When I first came to this forum about 6 or 7 years ago I use to pound on guys who did not know how to spell but what is the big deal it could be 10 times worse I could have married some girl too young for me and got her pregant on her way back to Colombia.

I would love to have the guy from the GQ story post here it would be interesting to have his make on things.

I'm sure both are too embarrased to post here based on that story. Anyone with an IQ is going to see that the guy was an [snip] and didn't take the advice given to him, therefore digging his own grave. And the girl will be too embarrassed by her actions as well, cause I'm sure she see's aware where she drew out of the lines also.

I think we should just use this story as a learning experience and move on. No one is to blame except for the 2 people involved, as any and every relationship is a 2 way street.

The main thing that we can gather from the story is take your time, follow your heart, and all while listening to advice and seeking it. But the most important lesson to learn is to get to know the woman your with as much as possible before tying the knot.

It's quite funny how everything I've posted before was "crap", then I make a tongue in cheek post saying that I've never been out of my home state and EVERYONE believes me...you guys need to get a life. i did a google a few days ago about the article, just to guage public reaction. i'm working on a tiny island in the pacific 9000 miles away from NY, so it's very hard to know if people liked the piece, how they reacted, etc.

anyway, i found that forum at goodwife.com, and wanted to come to your defense and also set the record straight. quote me if you want. don't if you don't.

a)i never had any pre-judgements about international marriage of any kind. questions and curiosity and fears? sure. but i'd have just as many about domestic marriages of any kind. if i walked into this piece with any particular emotional stance or feeling or whatever, it was that i thought steven deserved to be happy (yes, i knew he was being rash, and was naiive and superficial, but 1)i think there's a lot of that in a lot of men; and 2)i suspected he was the kind of guy who could learn on the job and commit to working something out, and i certainly didn't think of him as a "bad guy" -- whatever that means..). roxana certainly also seemed like she deserved to be happy, and I would've hoped and assumed they stood a very good chance of working out something nice. i never suspected this thing would become the train wreck it did, and the outcome just made me sad. that's not the kind of journalism i've generally done in the past--snooping into people's personal troubles. not my thing, unless somehow it serves some greater good, which is only somewhat arguable in this case.

anyway,

b) none of this was ever intended to reflect badly upon you or your business. everything i saw and heard and learned about your company indicated that it was honest, that you worked hard, and that you delivered what you promised. certainly no one could accuse of pimping anyone out (that thread of discussion on the forum was ridiculous --as if you have a stable of slaves under lock and key?) or failing to warn clients pretty sternly about possible mistakes.

so there. i thank you for your time helping with the story.

Did I miss something?? I never read anywhere in this thread where Jamie was accused of "pimping" women out. Never have read the word "pimp" until I read Jamie's post...or DID I miss something?? I think this "journalist" should take a stab at fiction writing. Wasn't impressed with his article nor his e-mail.
