What is the quickest way to get her brother here?
« on: November 06, 2007, 07:28:17 PM »
The mother was easy. She stayed a few months to visit last summer. How much more difficult will it be to bring my wife's brother to the States? What is the quickest route? work visa? relative type visa? Will he be able to get the large window of visit time as her mother? her visa was good for five years. We'd like him to stay indefinitely if he wants.

You need to give more information about this brother. Does he have job skills, is he married? What is his education? Does he own property? How likely is he to return home if allowed into the US?

Otherwise- your wife NATZ, files petition, brother is in 4th preference and waits about 11 years.

Ahh yes- I forgot to read the last sentence of the original post- to let him stay indefinitely if he wants. Giving aid and support to illegal aliens.

Illegal alien family members who overstay their visas. Family members who are likely to work under the table or to attempt to change visa status if allowed into the United States.

Which is why his likelihood of a successful visa application is probably slim, why the consulates restrict access to the US to those in his profile, etc. etc. etc.

Because there is nothing new under the sun in the land of immigration. And this gentleman is a poor risk

Forget about a work visa and forget about a family visa until the wife is a U.S. citizen. And forget about a visitor visa if he wants to stay here permanently!

The fastest legal way for him to come here to stay is to marry a U.S. citizen. Do you have a single sister?  ;D

He probably wouldnt want his sister to marry the guy. . . .

Just wants to "help him out."

Which is why he wont be getting a tourist visa since that is what everybody does with alien relatives- emigrates them all eventually. . . .

He is 27 an unmarried. No skills, no property. Whether he is likely to return would be an irrelevant question to ask ME. I do have a single sister.  :-\  What about a tourist visa? i'm not understanding you William.

The likelihood of success for a tourist visa is very very low based on the facts that you have presented. What you consider irrelevent is probably the most important facet as that would be the prime criteria for a tourist visa-the likelihood of the alien returning home after a visit to the US.

single, no skills, no property, young. Would you give him a visa to come here? Prime candidate to be a landscaper. . . . .

Why dont you introduce him to your sister? They can get married, have kids etc. Otherwise see my post on your spouse doing NATZ. . . .

In other words...most of us have strong feelings about illegals,  people purposely overstaying visas or those trying to break the law.  Not saying that you or he would.

Some of us would like our in-laws to come over and stay as long as they want.  It just doesn't work that way and thanks to "others" not obeying the laws in the first place...it makes it very difficult for honest people just wanting to see their loved ones.

I agree with Ravashing Ray and Sir William.  I think it would be extremely difficult for him to get a visa, legally.  Unless he marrys an American.

I understand the risk factor with which the government is concerned, Willie. Its the way you pose your questions (your sentence structure) that confuses me. I understand now that i wasnt to answer the question,"How likely is he to return home if allowed into the US?", but rather to understand how immigration would answer it. :D

My wife is listening to her Central American friend here in Michigan who has a house full of (illegal) immigrants, and i am listening to my wife. I will inform her that her brother must either wait 11 years, or marry my sister. Who-ah! I knew a guy in Detroit who lived across the street from my rental house married a Cuban on the Lotka (from "TAXI") plan. He bought an eight year old Cadillac with the proceeds.

Sorry about not taking the time to write- I am posting the ideas. If you posted a few of the terms in a search, you should find pertinent information to research.

There is an old saying out west, "Chances are slim and none and slim just left town."

Strange things happen-he can just pay the fee, go through the process and hope for a miracle.

Unless that visa approval is the final prophecy of Fatima, that guy will have his own family before he emigrates. Fortunately the fourth preference allows for immediate relatives of the brother to emigrate.

What is the quickest way to get her brother here?

The fastest way would be by a plane. He is at the back of line. You can bet 7 years if you are lucky. he passes his backgroung check, has no wife and kids by then and has a professional education.
