Barranquilla V Cartagena

I tried searching this on the archives but the search isn't working.

Which place would be best to visit. I want to go there non-agency route for now because ever since I bought Pimsleur 6months ago my spanish is really good.

I know the women are not that different in looks since its the coast so most girls are nice black with big booties. but in terms of wife or girlfriend material and lesser gringos around.

In my 6 trips to Cartagena, i did not see too many Black Big Booties. More like Black and Skinny. In Barranquilla i saw more of the type of women you refer too.

I wish I knew.It came up with a 404 error message. Same happened at another site so it could be my browswer. I am using Seamonkey not windows explorere. After many attempts I gave up. thanks

Well Barranquilla is definately on my radar. I thought BAQ had more of the latina mix. my buddy that went there said he didn't see any black hotties in Buenavista mall at all. Cartagena had the most hotties. BUT too many tourist in Cartegena and too many TOuts too.

Also many eurotrash italians mongering and screwing around with prostitutes. He Didnt see 1 gringo in BAQ.

Either way both place are worth a visit just want to know where to go first and then try the other like in 5 months time?

Hi Catz I clicked the archives on the main menu and I get a 404 error message. I assume that means I am not allow access to something. I don't know

the normal search works just not the archived ones.

This is strange. You don't have to register to have access to the archives so there is no access restriction in place. A 404 error is a page not found error not an access or database error.

If possible could you try this link again this evening and/or tomorrow? And could anyone else reading this thread give it a try as well please? I'd like to track this down if possible.

In my single days, i dated many women from Barranquilla, and almost all of them were woman of color, either Morena's or treguenas. There are plenty of them in Barranquilla. I like the city as well, easy to get around . Cartagena is good as well, but that is more of a fantasy city where you get a real taste of real life in Barranquilla and the women are much more friendly in Barranquilla i think then they are in  cartagena.

i am not worried about looks so much. this is colombia. many hotties here. but too many gringos and touts can be a annoying. i have experienced this is the bahamas and its not cool.

as I understand it from my translator I use in Barranquilla ( she was born in Cartagena) that the more African influence is in Cartagena rather than Barranquilla.

Touts are the guys who try to steer innocent sailors into a bar, or try to sell trinkets to tourists on the beach in CTG. Very low form of life.

If you think they are persistent in Colombia, try spending some time in Africa. it is almost impossible to go anywhere without being asked for a "cadaeux/gift", and they will relentlessly follow you around the streets. If you go to a restaurant, sometimes they will even wait for you outside until you are finished to try to get you to buy something or give some $.

Can't speak for Barranquilla or Cartagena but atleast in Medellin and Cali, I liked the fact too that I could browse in stores and if I looked at or picked something up, that was not interpreted as an intent on my part to buy it.

my experience has been that there are way less gringos in barranquilla than cartagena. the old city, el laguito and boca grande are tourist traps because of the beaches and islas de rosario but the girl i met many years ago in cartagena lived 30 minutes outside of the old city in a neighborhood called santa monica. gringos are pretty much non existant outside of the old city but this means that you are pretty much on your own with little to do. barranquilla on the other hand is a bit different. the atmosphere is different. you will see gringos but not to the extent of cartagena. even in the north or near the prado and buenavista, you'll see more locals than outsiders. in cartagena you feel there are more people from outside cartagena in the streets than cartageneros themselves.

pimsleur is good to just get your basic convo going.

other than that your doomed if the convo becomes anymore sophisticated.

Better to go to a spanish school at your local university or something. I just dont have the time for that kind of thing anymore.

I'll take Cartagena any day. My wife is about 30-40 minutes outside Bocagrande and 0 gringos. Compared to Barranquilla, I would say there were more hot girls all over the place and all shapes, sizes and colors. If I did it all over again, that would be my stomping ground of choice.
