The reason I called your post "mail-order bride-ish" is because it sounded so much like getting a home inspection when purchasing a home.  We don't buy women.
Of course we don’t buy women and me making a suggestion that you pay for a physical examination for someone you are very interested in is not like a home inspection or "mail-order bride-ish".

I also don't have much faith in what you would learn from an inspection done by anyone other than the man marrying the woman.  Those who rely on others to determine the quality of the woman they're interested in are IMHO at greater risk.  There's no substitute for personal judgment.
You are the only one using the word “inspection” not me. I am suggestion a physical examination done by a qualified doctor who can possible provide information and help to a woman that is unable to get such care on her on. No one said anything about someone else determining the “quality” of the woman.

If it's done with the intent of helping a woman, then my comments were way off-base.  It sounded more like an inspection to determine whether or not to pursue a further relationship in my mind.  Perhaps I was reading in something that wasn't there.

Without reading anything much into what Jamie had to say, in my mind I feel it is OK to see if your woman is healthy and that SHOULD be a factor in determining if you want to pursue this relationship further. I would do the same with an American girl.   Here is a case in point, I really dug a gal and she dug me as well BUT she came clean about some reproductive problems she had.   I was lucky she came clean early on because that was not something I wanted to deal with AT ALL. It was still early enough to cut bait, so I did.    In this case she knew about her problem, in some cases a woman will not.   Can you imagine if this happened to someone like EL RUSO, and how pissed off he would be if the woman did not come clean and wasted several of his prime child-bearing years with an infertile woman.  I do feel a thorough physical exam for both the man and the woman is perfectly fine. In addition, you are helping the woman in two ways, 1) She is now more aware of her health 2)If she does have a health issue you are not willing to deal with, than you have eliminated yourself from her life so she is able to find someone who IS willing to deal with whatever issue she may have.

I'm not sure what the big deal about a medical exam is. Would it even catch much? How thorough of an exam are we talking about here? Wouldn't it need to be pretty extensive to find, say, a reproductive disorder? What if she has HIV but it's not advanced enough to pick up on a blood test? I'm sure there are other things like that.

Growing up a bit out in the country, I knew quite a few people who didn't trust doctors and wouldn't go to see them (including even dentists and opthamologists) or go to hospitals if injured, etc. They all seemed to turn out fine.

Hell, I was out camping with 2 of them a couple weeks ago, cut off a bit of my finger, and do you get "man, you should go to a hospital, that's bleeding all over!" Hell no. You get "here's a paper towel..oh, and some tape, that might help. You know, this reminds me of X who cut off his finger and just went back to work, or Y who got his foot ran over by a truck, swore at the guy for a half hour, and went back to work..."

No FT, I can't imagine. I didn't realize that men could be "childbearing"...

Wasn't that much different in some ways, haha. Bled for almost an hour with it bandaged and elevated, but no way in hell I'd complain about it to those guys. Try typing when part of your fingertip has been cut off though. I've typed several dozen pages since then and it is a pain in the ass. Whenever that finger hits the keyboard it's like an electric shock, and it's a pain to type minus a finger.

My best friend got shot in the eye with a BB gun and, almost blinded, laid in bed for about 3 weeks. No doctors, no hospital. I'm pretty sure if someone suggested that he should seek to get a girl medically examind, he would look at them like they were crazy.

Just trying to give a different perspective. Medical treatment, though it has greatly advanced in some ways recently, is still bogus and innacurate in many respects, aside from being over-priced.
