Trust & Reliability
« on: March 30, 2007, 11:03:28 PM »
My new squeeze posted a couple hours late for our virtual date and warning bells were previously going off in my head. Having been burned more than once, I am probably more paranoid now than most. I remember Margareth, the former owner of a cali agency once mentioning to me that the young ones are crazy. She might have said that to discourage me from chasing young tail in her agency or she may have witnessed more than one gringo who got burned. My tardy gf got me thinking that trust & reliability are important issues that we rarely touch on...

Dear Moderators, do you think postings of the Ray style encourage others to post? I do not. Be smart, and ban the SOB...lol

Well, apparently someone actually believes that comment by Papi.

Papi seems to think that a little sarcasm in the form of an innocent cartoon is going to scare away potential posters because of how Papi is being “mistreated”. I find that idea rather amusing coming from Papi considering his own track record here.

What the readers of this thread cannot see is the post by Papi immediately above the yawning baby picture that was deleted by the moderators where he made some sarcastic remarks with a link to his favorite gay porn site (homosrs.com?). That post was typical of the kind of stuff that Papi has been leaving on the forum for some time now.

For example, in another recent thread Papi made the comment “eat sh*t” in Spanish, which was deleted by the moderators. Yet Papi claims that an innocent little cartoon in reply to this childish garbage of his is going to scare off prospective new posters? To someone reading the forum for the first time, perhaps it is possible that they may get the impression that poor Papi is being mistreated here, because they can’t see Papi’s garbage that was deleted from the middle of the thread with no comment given by the moderators.

I disagree with Papi’s theory that I am scaring off potential posters with innocent little cartoon comments in reply to his posts. On the contrary, I believe that if anything is keeping some people from posting it’s Papi’s style of insults directed at other members.

I think Papi should take a moment to think about some of these things before he accuses others of scaring away newbies:

Papi, when you insult others by directing them to click on links to gay porn sites, are YOU discouraging others from participating here?

Papi, when you use Spanish profanities to insult others, are YOU discouraging other Spanish speakers, particularly the ladies, form participating here?

Papi, when you label those whom you disagree with as “nutjobs”, are YOU discouraging others from participating?

Papi, when you hog the whole board with inane, repetitive, rhetorical questions, repeated over and over again for the sole purpose of amusing yourself, are YOU being considerate of the other members?

Maybe you should lighten up Papi and accept a few innocent cartoons as a cheap price to pay for some of the filthy garbage that you have posted on this forum. And before you publicly cry to the moderators to ban another member who might disagree with you, please take a good look at yourself in the mirror first.

I just wanted to set the record straight, so thanks for listening.

Note: Sean, this is not a flame post so please don’t move it to the flame room…   ;D

Guys,

I am sick and tired of the petty, childish, inane bickering. Each and every one of you has contributed unnecessarily to the tensions.

So.... from this point forward, anyone who persists in perpetuating this garbage will be instantaneously placed in Moderated status (the equivalent of a 'Time-Out' for kindergartners), for a period of time to be determined by the Mods.

Either post relevant and worthwhile contributions - or don't post.

- Dan

LOL! that is why i like to call it romper room. It is sometimes hard to believe we are adults. I am guilty too and will try to behave. I don't want to sit in the corner with my nose to the wall.  ;D

with regard to the topic, i know i am not the only gringo that has struggled with the trust & reliability issue, just one of the few brave enough to write about it and warn others. Right now, i am struggling with some pricey tickets i just bought and not sure if i made a mistake. The optimists get lucky early in the search and that happens to 30% of the guys. The balance find their soulmates later or struggle for a longer period of time (see Neil's brave trip report). He's also made many trips to the FSU. It is easy for some and others again don't always readily connect. I know guys living in Cali and alone. Just cause it is easy for you young bucks does not mean others always find it that way and it does not make those that don't losers. And I also don't subscribe to the notion that us old farts need to settle for less...
