spanish flirting 101
« on: February 20, 2007, 06:52:42 PM »
i find that the girls really get a bang out of joking with them and using some of their local expressions. so i thought i'd start a thread on how you vets make them crazy. can we get some feedback from the vets?? I will start it off:

boy: tu te eres tan linda!
girl: gracias amor
boy: a la orden
girl: jajaja

doom, sotero??

This tends to be a great icebreaker:

"¿Puedo extinguir el fuego en tus pompis con mi lengüeta?"

(Disclaimer: Should anyone actually attempt to use the above line, be sure to have a medic nearby to help reattach your severed nuts.)

Paps,

just a question: what made you finally open your eyes?  I must say I am impressed with your recent transformation.

In all seriousness, here are a few genuinely appropriate lines I scooped up elsewhere on the Net:

Many more.

These remind me of the piropos that are a staple of every attractive Colombiana's day. She used to get a real chuckle out of some of them especially the creative ones.

This writer seems to have an especially keen grasp of el piropo:

"The piropo is subtle refined machismo, with a private fantasy of romance. At most, a person walking beside you might hear, but often no one, not even the mystery man, looks to see your response. The compliment arrives quietly, like an anonymous gift."

Very interesting item although it sounds as though the Argentinos are more subtle than the Colombianos.

Though I understand most of them, I still needed help from a translator.

Maybe some of the Spanish Majors here could step up and do the translations justice. :)

Do some of these on that site actually work or does it sound like lame American lines of days gone by? That's what they look like to me.

Usually, I just run with it and wing each moment when flirting with these girls. That's what I love about them, my sense of humor just goes well with most of them. As we all know, a good laugh is the way to any girl.

What are a couple of local expressions? I know those work really good. I know if I ever just say "Buenas!" I get some attention because they start asking me how I know that. That leads into the "I have been to Barranquilla" conversation.

My next time down, I am going to try and pick some of these up.

I like

"tu con tantas curvas y yo sin frenos"

and

"mamacita, si asi como caminas ,cocinas, me como hasta el cucallo"  (cucallo in Bq / pegado in Cali).

Your right...many of the women I've met in Colombia really like a guy who can make her laugh.  I guess it's a breathe of fresh air from all the other men trying desperately to bed them so much.

I had a few women, from the agency, who I didn't really want to pursue anything with want to see me again just for my sense of humor.  One, who I kinda liked, even told me..."why aren't you as funny as the other time we went out?"  when I was trying to actually talk and get to know her.  I told her that I didn't act like an idiot ALL the time, just most of the time.  I guess I'm funny even when they don't know what I'm saying.  I always keep a banana peel in pocket for just such an occasion.  Sometimes it's embarrassing and hard to explain about all those little gnats flying around my pocket though. ;D

Don't believe it...my girlfriend did modeling work last month with 6 other Colombian girls in Buenos Aires...from what she told me the Argentinos aren't shy when it comes to piropos...they plain out were attacked when they went out...  The  Argentinos love the Colombian girls when they come to town, and when they see a hot negra, they completely lose it...

Damn Papi, I hope my girl was working as a model....you know, a Colombiana working in a foreign country means only one thing ;)

That quote is not that great of a thing to hear Papi. I hope she didn't tell you that...

soltero maduro maricon seguro means "an older single guy (bachelor) is surely gay"

Good one Soltero...actually it's kind of a rhyme, if you say it at the right pace...definitely meant to bust Papi's balls...

PDaddy, I wasn't trying to bust Papi's balls by translating that message, but it could have been the intent of the person who wrote it.

Send me an email sometime. You are a hard guy to keep up with :)

I told her that I didn't act like an idiot ALL the time, just most of the time.

If I think I have been joking with them too much, I begin to tell them that I can be serious as well, and I start some regular conversations to balance it out.

The girl I am talking to now only wants me to joke, so this might work out well.
This could be a nice little gig. I hope she says this after we meet in person.
I'd prefer to be an idiot 90+% of the time.
