Friends report of Venezuela!
« on: January 26, 2007, 07:58:14 PM »
Check it out

I know we all hate Chavez but let put him aside and focus on the countries natural resources: WOMEN. A friend of mine just returned from Caracas, Venezuela and actually said the women there were not bad looking at all. In fact he rates them right up there next to Colombia and said both countries had hot women and put it to a tie. Costa Rica isn't even close. (although I think he is still alittle bias to Colombia. Who wouldn't be right?).

He did also state that the women had a different attitude. Not a rude attitude just not an attitude to leave the country out of desperation and being a gringo really wouldnt score you any browny points. However if you speak spanish, have money and can afford to stay for like a month or 2 your sucess would be much better (not an option for many of us sadly due to Violence). You will also need alittle more game. Upper middle class women were the hardest to talk to.

Caracas had the hottest looking women, Sambil mall was meant to have lots of them.

I have only been to BAQ and that was heaven enough for me.

Is there anyone else here that has been to both places and can give their view?

I have been to Venezuela about 1.5 years ago.  I went to Valencia, and just briefly drove through Caracas.  Women indeed were very attractive on average, and not "white, blond type" of miss venezuela, but more of a "triguena" look - and much better to my taste.  Country is a lot more chaotic than Colombia, and the separation between the wealthy and the poor is a lot more evident, something comparable to Brazil.  I would not venture to say that being an American is not a plus, but you do need to have something to you besides the passport, especially for upper class women.  Typically they have visas and travel whenever they want to Miami.  Non upper class women are probably an untapped resource, but they again will likely not trust your genuineness, because there is no way in my opinion a wealthy venezuelan guy will be serious about them, and they will likely assume you will be the same.

Going for upper class (and higher) women is somewhat of a long shot (ie, you need to convince them that you are well off economically, will get along well with their family, stay for a legitimate reason in Venezuela.  Their chance to marry "well" depends a great deal on their reputation, and they would not want to ruin it.).  I wrote once to a Venezuela woman on-line, and she interrogated me as to which barrio of Miami I live in and even which street intersection before she even considered continuing the conversation.  I had to send her a photo of my building!  ;D  And my experience with Venezuelans here in Miami is that this is not an unusual attitude.  Not to badmouth anybody, but my personal experience with venezuelans is that they are extremely status and wealth-conscious, several notches above colombians.  Maybe I just had bad luck.

Hey El Ruso thanks for the reply. Like you say going after upper class women doesn't sound like a good idea anywhere in Latina America not just Venezuela.  I never chase too high a class even here in Great Britain. However gringos seem to have this thing for upper class. Buyer be ware. I noticed when I was in BAQ that the women in the upper echelon catergory had terrible manners. I remember going to a club and asking this hot chica to dance with me. She wagged her finger at me to go away. Can you believe that? Wag your finger, like I was a dog or something. Just a simple "si" or "no" would do. My opinion is stick to working class women maybe middle class esp if your an older guy looking for younger wife. I just can't see it happening with an upper class chica. I am not sure about the middle class and if the even want to date gringos.

Whilst I am here. What the heck is a "triguena"? and how does one look like? I keep hearing the name.

On skin tones (these do vary by counry though):
Morena = black or very dark (not necessarily by race, just skin tone)
Triguena = mid to dark brown
Canela = light brown

On pursuing upper class women, it could be a "me too" mentality.  If you associate with upper class latin men, they will invariably marry into upper class females.  Some guys want women with college education, or purely european physical features, and that is much more likely with upper class women.  Also regarding lower class women you have to realize that if you marry one, you could be on hook for supporting her, and the rest of her family financially, not necessarily because she is a golddigger, but because they might not have anyone else with means.  I think the best women are lower middle class: they have education and values of working families, their parents typically work and are traditional, but they lack the snobbishness of the rich girls.

Let's see if I get this straight. A woman with a college education and European looking is bound to be upper class? Could she be middle class?

I have been to Caracas 2x, Maracaibo 2x and also Barranquilla within the last 2-2 1/2 years.

My experience with Venezuelan women is pretty much bad all around. Your friend is right, they do have a "different" attitude. When I saw your post, I just kind of laughed to myself that your friend saw the attitude they have. I have seen it with every Venezuelana that I have come across. Whether they are online, here in the states, or down there. What el_ruso write about sending a picture seems to be true in my case too. I had to go out of my way to prove things to them, but I always translated that as them being untrusting, becasue I always had to prove everything that I ever said.

I did like Caracas better than Maracaibo.
In my opinion, there are much better looking girls in Caracas.
I found the bad (I mean "different") attitude in both cities.
I felt more comfortable in Caracas than Maracaibo, but I was uncomfortable in both cities.

I think they are a negative, untrusting bunch as a whole.  They have this sense of false pride that I have never seen before.

The Sambil mall does have some nice little chickees. I was with my girlfriend, but there were girls flirting with me. I don't think it would be hard to pick any up there. I liked it there. It's a nice modern mall. In Maracaibo is the del Largo mall which is a nice mall too. It is right on lake Maracaibo and there is a nice little boardwalk type thing to walk along.

To be fair, I did come across some decent people down there, it was just that the percentage of bad was so overwhelming it tended to drown out the good.

No matter what positive I could say about Venezuela, I think I would take Barranquilla any day.

trigueño,-a, adjetivo, corn-coloured.

In other words...

The elusive trigueña:

Quite an attractive skin tone, wouldn't ya say?

But to each his own.

trigo = wheat, which is brown
you have pictures of some kind of black corn.  I assume this is supposed to be a joke, but it might confuse people.

Hey Guys

I really am trying not to spend much time here because i am trying to get all my ducks in a row to fix my house up to rent it  and move to Quito to live with my novia, who by the way at the end of march will be MRS KB. But i wanted to interject on Venezuela. I was in Venezuela 2 times in the past 18 months and i just found the people there to really have a BETTER THEN YOU attitude and it really turned my stomach to be honest. i tried to be nice and am fluent in Spanish, but everyone had an almost NY City attitude of YOU TALKEN DA ME !!!. Kind of like what i hear about Buenas Aires a little. The women i found to be really hot, equal to the Colombianas, but far and i mean faaaaarrrrr  less approachable and friendly. I was in Caracas, morrocoy and margarita, Was the same everywhere. Now, i have met some nice Venezuelans living here in the states, so maybe they chill out a bit when they get here , who knows but if i were not going to be getting married soon and still were looking, VZ would not really be on my radar. Anyway, i saw this post and had experience there, so i thought i would take time to put my 2 cents in, Take care All

Thanks KB and good luck with your new mrs. What you said about them being to Colombians is true although I also hear they are meant to be slightly taller and more statuesque. Also a more prevelance of really long hair. mmmmm

Yes, they are taller and have a lot of very long hair, which i love and if you have seen pics of my future bride, that is the kind of hair that yo see there, especially in caracas. Long, straight, dark, and 5"5 and up is normal. They are freaks on the dance floor, they have moves i have never seen before, I have never been to Brazil, but think that from what i have heard, they move like the Brazlianas. Thanks for the promps as well. so far so good with my future plans

I congratulate you too, I hope it will work out.  Quito is a great place, I enjoyed staying there, and it seemed to be very clean, organized and also inexpensive.  I remember seeing an advertisement for a penthouse on calle San Salvador by the main park, and it was like $100K.  And llapingachos are really good too.

Anyway, good luck again, and you will have to tell us about life in Ecuador when you have time.

Hey KB, Best Wishes!

I was lurking around and waiting on the trip report, but I guess I'll write it off and go back to waiting for FT's last one. (hint hehe)

Ok, don't want to hijack the thread.

Good Luck!

That's for sure. Even Colombia has cities which quite literally almost never see a gringo. Monteria with about 400,000 people is an example. I'm usually the only gringo people have ever seen there. A Spanish speaking gringo with some sense of adventure would do very well there.
