Medellin Barrios

Hi guys,

I was just on the phone to a friend of mine that wants to buy property in Medellin. He is a fairly well off guy and wants to buy a good property down there. Can someone here give me a break down of the Barrios from Working class all the way to upper class areas? Also how much a upper class apartment/house would be in Medellin.

Medellin area is huge, with lots and lots of barrios, 100s, probably 1,000s.

Price range between barrios are large, your friend will need top travel around and select some areas for further research.

The most famous barrio is El Poblado, close to parque Lleras, nightlife, restaurants, but with VERY steep streets.  Nearby is Las Palmas with Intercontinental.  Further out from Poblado is Envigado, which is very peaceful and nice, but a bit far.  A good option is Laureles, which is not as fancy as the other ones, but still very nice, with nice restaurants, laurel-lined streets, and very walkable as it is relatively flat.

But regardless, your friend has to physically go to MDE and see the properties and the city before buying anything in particular.
