Well there is a distinct comparisons and contrasts between America and SA, that Daytrade was implicating in his post, I think he got frustrated because we as Americans never seem to get the message and learn the lesson, In America we emphasize economics, education, professionalism and personal wealth and gain, these are our selfish priority's and we place more value on materialism and professionalism before whats most important love, relationships and family, when ever I return to Cartagena, I always experience the relaxed relationship, family oriented culture, that always reminds me about what is most essential and important about life, the demographics and difference between American culture and SA is vastly diffrent, they are more personable and there is more proximity regarding relationships in general, when the economical comment was made which I agree with Day trade on this one, was not in the right context that Daytrader was attempting expounding on, which was the significance of cordial relationships and simplicity in communications. The selfish or self centered nature of us as American was predicated in the statement in itself when you look at it analytically, ac certion of economics was not directly related to the topic at all and it is demonstrative of exactly what our issues or problems consist of in America, (I am not pointing the finger at everyone else but introspection I see the errors of my own mannerisms and attitudes, that personally cause me to rethink my values and motives about life in general)   In so many words our dogmatism in America is more selfcentered and the Latin culture is more people and relationship oriented, this is indicative of why we fail in our marriages and have dysfunctional in our family's and exactly while we migrate to find women that come from a culture that romanticizes  and embraces these traditional family values and Judea Christian ethics

I think what Mark Anthony was trying to say is that life in LA revolves around one's family, and here it revolves around one's work.  I would not venture to say that Latins are all spiritual and Americans are all materialistic.  Just people get paid a lot more here, and credit is much more readily available, so it is easier to buy things here.  Latins do like to buy things too given the opportunity, just often they do not.  And, just to use an example of a very large number of guys who father kids in LA and then completely abandon them, I think there are enough selfish people in LA too.

However, families are typically bigger and more close in Latin America, and it is reflected in their culture as well.  The atmosphere of being a part of a large and loving family is truly wonderful, and is one of the greatest assets a latina can bring into a relationship.

i want to mention a couple of things that might be pertinent to this discussion. i spoke to my wife, she told me how one of her cousins was having problems with her marriage. her cousin and her husband, both colombian, have been married for 12 years and they've been drifting apart because the husband is a workaholic, spending everyday since they've been married with his job. they both work and work a lot, trying to maintain a lifestyle that they can't afford. now here's the flip side. when the family heard about this, one of her uncles got the entire extended family together for a spiritual get together. there were about 40 people, they got together during the week, talked about everything, things that have been bothering them, praying, giving advise etc. now i wonder, i'm from NYC, how possible is it to do that here? in a city where people goto work, go home, sleep and do it over again the next day, how often would one be able to get such a large family together last minute. the cool thing was that noone came up with an excuse not to go. they all went to support their cousin. anyway, coming from a small family it seems nice that a large family can do this

Yep, that's very special and from what I've seen in Baq., it fits right in to the closeness and the "way" of the latin families that I've seen.  Like DT, that's one of the things that made me fall in love with the lifestyle that they seem to have.

PD,

You really should post more often. I think you lend a very realistic view on relationships, culture and women.

you haven't been paying attention, PDaddy is already taken.
